"I'm not sure… let's just stick close to each other, safety in number, right?" she laughed nervously, but not knowing why she laughed in the first place. There was nothing about their situation that was even remotely funny. "Sorry… I don't know why I laughed."
"No, it's fine," Kiger said, letting out a nervous laugh of his own. "But yeah let's stick together! Hey, can you still not see me if I let go?" he asked, releasing his grip on her hand for a moment.
"…I don't know," she replied, glancing at Kiger nervously. To her surprise, in this new locatioin, somewhere, somehow she could see him. …or at least more than before. It wasn't a clear outline anymore, but more of a ghost-like appearance. The natural backdrop, behind Kiger looked weird now, since she could see straight through him. "Kinda? Like, you look more like a ghost now, but yeah, I can still see you."
"Ooh, spooky," he said with an attempted grin. "Well, that's something, right? Now I don't have to sneak up on you all the time. Now we just have to…get out of here? I guess?" he sounded almost disappointed by the idea, and in part he was. He didn't want to lose his chance at a real adventure, finally, something to add meaning to his life.
You're not out yet, buddy, he reminded himself sternly. You may not even be able to get out.
"…yeah, we do, don't we?" Amber looked around, hoping for an easy way out of here. "You wouldn't happen to notice any easy way out that I haven't seen, would you?"
"Sadly, no," he said with a sigh. "I mean where even are we? It's not your world, and it sure ain't mine,. Maybe we can try to find another flower? That might take us back."
"I guess that could work, I just don't want to end up wandering aimlessly around here for hours…" Amber trailed off, unsure of what else to say. Kiger's logic made sense, it was the prospect of getting lost that held her back.
"I feel you, but what else would we do? I think it's worth the risk," Kiger said, sounding a lot more bold than he felt. "There has to be another flower around here somewhere, right?"
"…I guess," Amber half-agreed, though there was still a hint of doubt in her voice. "We'll be safe if we stick together," she said out loud, but mostly to comfort herself.
(Hi! I'm back finally!! :D I missed you! ^^)
"Yeah!" Kiger agreed, happy to cling to any vestige of positivity available. "Let's just…find a flower, and get out of here!"
(Yay! And ty! ^^)
"Mhmm, finding a flower… that should be easy, right?" Amber laughed nervously, but softly. "Anyways, we better get moving, or we'll be wasting time."
"Surely!" Kiger agreed, determined to be optimistic. He set off, scanning the trees for any sign of a glowing flower. "Jeez, this place is a little creepy, don't you think?"
"Yeah, I guess…" Amber followed Kiger, looking around anxiously.
Kiger scrutinized his surroundings, but saw nothing. He kept creeping forward, pausing once in a while to examine under bushes and leaves.
He was used to exploring unknown places, but not without his brigade of friends leading the way. It was a lot different here, with just one other person.
"Do you like singing?" he suddenly asked, a little desperate for some conversation.
"Singing?" Amber repeated as she looked up at Kiger. She was a little confused as why he suddenly mentioned singing. "I… I guess, not in public though."
"My friends and I always sing when we're freaked out," he explained, seeing her confusion. "We're not any good, any of us, but it breaks up the tension."
He grinned, a little embarrassed at suggesting such a silly thing, but he certainly was unnerved now.
"Oh, that makes sense," Amber replied, her eyes filling with understanding.
"Do you know any good songs?" Kiger asked, relieved when she didn't make fun of him.
Amber stayed quiet, thinking, before finally saying, "Well… it's probably not super well-known in your world, but I know that Cloud Nine's pretty popular in my world. Almost everybody knows the song, and they either like it or hate it, but either way, they've heard it before."
"Can you teach it to me?" Kiger asked eagerly. He'd never heard the song before, and given how much he liked music, he figured this song couldn't do much wrong.
"Um… but how?" Amber paused, looking back at Kiger with a conused expression. She was only a kid, after all, and she'd never taught anything to anyone before.
"Just teach me the lyrics and the tune!" he said with a bright smile. "We can sing it together. How's it start, for example? Or, what's the beat?"
"Well… it starts with 'Waking up, ready for some action,'" Amber started.
Kiger repeated after her, trying to memorize the tune and words.
"What do I do next?" Amber asked, looking to Kiger, trying to learn how to teach.
"Keep teaching me he lyrics" he said encouragingly. "One I know them all, we can try to sing it together!"
Amber took a deep breath, slowly teaching the lyrics to Kiger, going line by line. When she was done, she quietly hummed the melody, encouraging him to hum along as well, so he could learn the melody faster.
Kiger picked up on the tune quickly, singing quietly to practice.
"You know, I actually really like that song," he told her after a few minutes. "It's got a cool tune!"
Amber smiled shyly. "Thanks. It's actually one of my favorites!"
"I could teach you one of my faves if you want?" suggested Kiger, finding himself to be perfectly content in this random parallel universe of a sudden.
(Btw, I'm trying to figure out a system where I'm replying to my rps a least once every other day, but I have a ton of them, and I'm super busy, so I'm so sorry if I'm still late sometimes!)
