She let out a shaky breath " I just killed four vampires with a fucking baseball bat… Honestly I'm scared for the first time in my life I'm afraid let's face it caelan I'm not one of…you I'm gonna die and I'm just gonna have to come to the fact that I'm never gonna go to college and I'm never gonna get married because no one will have the chance to love me' she said.
The last part of Dayton's rant confused him, and he was half tempted to give her the disgusted 'what' expression. But he kept it in, and shrugged a little. "Well unless you're willing to try and have a relationship with a monster or whatever, I wouldn't be getting upset over that." he turned his eyes to the world outside the window, viewing the chaos of death and violence. "You're not going to die, okay? I won't let that happen."
" you can't promise that everyone dies eventually maybe it's my time maybe it's what I'm destined to do" she said
Caelan forced Dayton's foot down onto the break, bringing the car to a halt in the middle of the road. He turned to her, fire burning in his eyes. "Listen to me, Dayton. You're scared, so your brain is making you say things that you don't really mean. Okay? You are not 'destined' to die at the hands of an otherworldly creature. You're going to live a long life with me and you're going to do all the things that you want to do. We are going to get out of here, and start fresh, away from anything that can harm you. Okay?"
Dayton sighed, " what if we don't your gonna make it I want you to get out of the car I may die but you won't"
"Say that again, a little slower this time." Caelan raised an eyebrow, honestly confused by the jumble of words that had just come from the girl's mouth. "I may be strange but that doesn't mean my brain works properly."
¨You have a better chance and I want you to use it not wasting it one a stupid girl¨ she said.
"You're not a stupid girl." Caelan let go of Dayton's leg so she could continue driving. "You're my stupid girl, and don't you forget it. Now can we please get back to your house so we can actually think properly?"
Dayton looked at the road not talking he had called her his girl he had probably just meant his friend right
They reached Dayton's house with next to no issues, other than having to take the long way around as death and violence clogged up the quicker route. The street where Dayton lived was unusually quiet, and from further inspection, Caelan could see that a lot of the houses had windows that were bordered up from the inside. "Do you think your parents will be in?" he whispered, fearing that something terrible would happen if he spoke too loud.
She stared at the house with a sigh. " I don't know " was all she said.
