Bryn whimpered at even the mention of kickboxing, already knowing that he'd have to stay home and wait it out. "I… um… I'll stay here then." His tone was agreeable enough, but he didn't seem happy about it.
Bryn whimpered at even the mention of kickboxing, already knowing that he'd have to stay home and wait it out. "I… um… I'll stay here then." His tone was agreeable enough, but he didn't seem happy about it.
Sebastian wrapped both of his arms slightly tighter around Bryn. He didn't like leaving him alone for so long; he didn't know what would happen.
"I'd rather stay here with you," he said, "but Doc would give me an earful if I skipped…" He sighed.
"Doc?" Bryn asked quietly, shivering as he remembered their disastrous trip to the doctor's office. Or… tried to remember. It was all a bit of a blur, too tainted with fear and then with pain for him to recall anything at all about the visit. "You're close with the doctor?"
Sebastian hesitated for a moment, then have a small nod. He wasn't about to lie to Bryn, but he could tell Bryn didn't like Doc.
"Yeah," he said just as quietly.
Bryn's lips pressed into a thin little line. "Well, I hope you make her happy then." His voice was cold, almost standoffish, and he rolled over so his back was facing Sebastian.
"Bryn," Sebastian said, pleading even with saying only one word. He didn't want Bryn to be mad at him; a little ball of anxiety was already starting to form. What if Sebastian ended up doing something stupid, like last time? If he let his who get the best of him? He shivered at the thought. No, he refused to hurt Bryn.
Bryn bit his lip when he heard the way Sebastian said his name, already regretting his little outburst, but he didn't turn around. "What?" his voice had warmed some, but the word was still sharp enough to draw blood.
"Please… Please don't be mad…" Sensation closed his eyes for a moment. Him hurting Bryn wasn't the only reason he was starting to feel anxious; after what happened with his mother, he hadn't opened up to anyone this much. Not his father, or Doc, or even CC. He had been closed off for a long time. And now, it almost seemed to physically pain him when Bryn was mad at him.
Bryn bit his lip a little harder, shuffling around on the bed so he was laying on his back instead of facing away from Sebastian. "I'm not… mad," he murmured quietly, closed off but not too hostile anymore. "I'm just… upset."
Sebastian looked at Bryn with sad eyes.
"What… What can I do to fix it?" He said, voice barely above a whisper. He really couldn't handle Bryn even just being upset at him. He wanted it to stop, he wanted to stop feeling like this. For a moment, he wasn't rich, he wasn't important; he was a confused young man wouldn't never had to deal with being an adult. To deal with how to treat others right.
Bryn sighed, groping blindly for Sebastian's hand and squeezing it gently. "I'm not upset at you," he muttered. "I'm just upset. In general. At the world, if I have to specify, but… not at you." He over onto his side, finally meeting Sebastian's eyes. "Never at you."
Sensation buried his head in Bryn's chest, all but clinging to his hand.
"O-okay," he said quietly. He wasn't sure if he felt relieved that Bryn wasn't upset at him, or sad that he couldn't help.
Bryn deflated a little, wrapping an arm around Sebastian's shoulders to pull the human close. "I'm okay. It's… it's nothing a little time won't fix, okay? I just need to remember who I am and who you are."
Sebastian stayed pressed close to Bryn, slowly starting to calm down.
"And who is that?" He asked quietly. Who are we?
Bryn reached up to pet his hair gently with his free hand, idly running his fingers through the smooth strands. "Different."
Sebastian still held Bryn's hand, pulling it up to his chest. He didn't look up yet, focusing on Bryn's fingers.
"Is there anything wrong with that?" He asked.
"Not to me," he answered simply, lacing his fingers smoothly with Sebastian's. "But… to a lot of people, there is. I can't be with you the way a human can be with a human."
Sebastian gave a tiny frown.
"We humans are idiots. Scared, powerless little idoits, who think that anyone who is different is bad. Who think we have to dominate." He looked up at Bryn.
"I'm so ashamed of that."
Bryn kissed him softly, letting go of Sebastian's hands so he could cup his face gently. "Baby, you don't have to be ashamed for your whole race. You made yourself better. You improved. And I'm so, so proud of your for that, so you don't have to take credit for every bad thing every human has done."
Sebastian leaned into the kiss, his hands going up to rest on top of Bryn's.
"But what about all the things I have done?" He said quietly. And not just what he did to Bryn. Everything.
"Sebastian, I have never in my life met a human like you." Bryn kissed him again, barely more than a peck. "Nobody wants to change. Nobody is willing to. You own up for your mistakes, for what you've done, you don't…" he shrugged, "… you don't need to atone. Not to me."
Sebastian let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding.
"Okay," he said quietly, leaning into Bryn's hand. "Okay," he repeated, more to himself this time. He looked up at Bryn.
"Thank you…"
"Baby, I love you more than… anything." He kissed Sebastian again, smoothing a thumb over his cheek gently. "Of course I'll be here to comfort you. You don't need to thank me for doing that."
"I love you too. I love you more than I can ever express." Sebastian held the kiss for a moment, just wanting to stay here.
"And I want to thank you. I want you to know how much this means to me." Finally, he gave a small smile.
Bryn kissed back, not wanting to do anything lest he disturb the perfect moment. He sighed when Sebastian pulled away to speak, giving him a soft smile. "I'm glad I can be here for you, then."
It felt really good to see Bryn smile again.
"And I'm glad we can be like this." Together, even if just in secret.
"I'm glad too," Bryn murmured, cuddling closer to Sebastian's chest with a soft sigh. "How long do we have until you need to go to kickboxing?"
Sebastian put his arms around Bryn again, glancing at the clock.
"A few more minutes. We have time." He smiled gently, staying close to Bryn for as long as he could.
"Good." Bryn smiled again, leaning up for a soft kiss before he closed his eyes and made himself comfortable in Sebastian's arms. "I'm gonna try and fall asleep while I still feel… safe."
"Okay," Sebastian said quietly. It seemed like a good idea. He'd leave a message so that no one would come into his room while he was gone. Just in case.
"I love you."
