Killian blinked, and sighed. "I…don't know." he replied with a shrug. "Because we just never ran into each other?"
Killian blinked, and sighed. "I…don't know." he replied with a shrug. "Because we just never ran into each other?"
Jade nodded a bit disappointed. ”Yeah, that makes sense. Sorry. Just wishful thinking, I guess.” she admitted. ”You just… confuse me a bit. It's like you're a walking contradiction.”
"Who, me? Why thank you!" Killian replied with a laugh.
Jade smiled at his response with a light chuckle. ”I’m serious. Talking to you like this, spending time with you… It's almost hard for me to believe that you're… well, who you are.”
Killian sighed. "Gee, thanks." he replied, smiling and chuckling a little. "That makes me feel so special."
Jade sighed, unsure if he was being sarcastic or not. ”I’m sorry. You know I overthink almost everything and as much as I like mental challenges I also like having answers.”
Killian shrugged. "No, it's fine. Don't apologize, I get it." he chuckled softly.
”Thanks.” Jade smiled. ”I am glad that we can talk openly about that side of our lives with each other, though. It gets tiring hiding it all the time.”
"Yeah. I agree." Killian replied. "It's…actually really nice. Even though you're a hero, and I'm the bad guy." he chuckled softly.
Jade chuckled softly. ”Yeah. Though you're not the worst out there.” she said, hoping not to insult him by saying that he may be a villain but she didn't really think of him as a bad guy… not anymore. ”And I actually enjoy being your opponent.”
"I know I'm not, there's no need to remind me." Killian teased with a laugh. "And thank you, I enjoy being yours."
”Hey, it's supposed to be a compliment.” Jade pointed out before laughing. ”That’s good cause you're stuck with me until one of us retires.”
"Or until one of us dies. I'm not very confident I'll live to retirement age." Killian replied with a shrug.
Jade’s smile dropped immediately at hearing him say that. She couldn't really argue with his point but she, and a fair majority of other heroes, had a strict ”no-kill” policy. There were times or situations where that line was blurred but it really depended on the circumstances. She sighed, ”I don't really have high hopes for retirement either. Though I think my chances of being K.I.A. is slightly higher than yours is.”
Killian shrugged. "Yeah, but all it takes is one trigger happy officer, and I'm dead."
”Well, yeah, but that's a danger for everyone who doesn't have bulletproof skin, hero or villain. I've been shot at more than a couple of times.” Jade reminded him. ”Depending on the location and what kind of damage is done, there are worse ways to go then that scenario.”
Killian sighed. "Yeah, but I'm not like you. The public doesn't like me, and I'm more likely to get killed by somebody who believes they're doing the right thing."
”I know that.” Jade rubbed her forehead in minor annoyance. ”But even if someone means to do ”the right thing” all it takes is a shot gone awry; shaky hands, twitchy fingers or even bumping the trigger on accident and that's it.” she sighed, shaking her head. ”And the public doesn't hate you. I won't deny that you scare them some times but really it's the judicial system that hates you.”
"Eh. I'm not exactly a people favorite either. Not with the fact that I steal things." Killian replied with a soft, forced laugh.
”Maybe not, but at least your fans aren't mostly perverts.” Jade grimaced at the thought. ”I don't know, maybe it's my suit.”
Killian wrinkled his nose. "Let me know if I need to go mess with somebody who messed with you." He replied.
She chuckled. ”Hey, I know how to handle myself in those kinds of situations.” Normally Jade’s smirk faltered a little at the mental reminder before she shook it off. ”Besides, I don't know any of them personally. It's mostly online stuff.”
"Alright." Killian replied. "Still." he chuckled softly. "I mean, most are going to question why a villain is defending a hero, but whatever."
Jade snickered slightly as an unexpected blush rose on her cheeks. ”Most would question why a villain is defending anyone. But I’m flattered by the offer.” she said sincerely.
Killian chuckled. "Mm. You're welcome." he replied.
Jade smiled, biting her lip slightly to keep from asking again why he became a villain. It wasn't a conversation to have over the phone… and he probably wasn't willing to talk about it with her. ”You’re such a gentleman.” she said instead.
Killian laughed. "No, I'm really not, but thank you." he replied, shaking his head a little and laughing.
”Yes, you are.” Jade argued gently. ”You’ve never been inappropriate or crass with me, you're smart and kind, when you're not fighting me.” she added with a light chuckle.
Killian smirked. "Hm. That depends, but thanks." he replied, chuckling softly.
Jade raised a brow slightly. ”I mean it. But what do you mean by it depends?”
