Killian chuckled along, then sobered as she spoke. "Ah. I see." He replied simply. He sat back. "Are here any other wounds that need to be taken care of? The drugs you'll simply have to sleep off, I think, as I don't know what else to do about it."
Her expression tightened and she refused to look at him. ”No. I don't believe there is anything more that you can help with. I am very grateful for all you have done but I should just need rest now.” she stated, laying down. ”As long as it stays within my control, I won't tell anyone your identity.”
Killian nodded. "Alright. And it would be appreciated, Brainwave, if you did not use the location of my home or the knowledge of my identity against me in our next fight." He added, standing smoothly. He picked up the food and ate it, putting the dish and fork in the sink.
She chuckles a bit. ”I would never resort to those tactics. But as long as you don't kill me in my sleep I can promise not to do that.” Jade vowed.
Killian gave a sharp nod. "Deal." He replied easily. He walked back over, sitting down in the chair with a sigh. "You know, I had planned some midnight shenanigans for tonight…but I guess that won't happen." He shrugged, drumming his fingers.
Jade shrugged, ”Explains why you were wearing the mask. I can't exactly stop you right now if you chose to go through with those plans.” she admitted. ”I could try but I would be at a clear disadvantage. Though it would be easier on both of us if you postponed.”
Killian nodded. "Yeah." He replied, taking off the mask. "I'll postpone it, I guess." He shrugged slightly, setting the mask down on the table. His eyes were a bright green again.
”Thank you, Hex.” She gave him a small smile, observing his features fully, unhindered by the masks they both wore. ”Have your eyes always changed color like that? Or is it a result of your powers?” she asked curiously.
Killian nodded. "Both." He replied with a shrug. "It's linked to both my emotions and my magic, and I have had it for as long as I can remember." He wondered for a moment if it was a good idea to tell her all this, but…it wasn't information that could really do any damage. So. Safe information to tell her. He leaned back in his chair with a sigh.
Mood ring eyes. She bit her lip slightly to keep the comment to herself… Or until the playful banter kicked off. ”Interesting.” Jade remarked, not sure what else to say. Too much talking could cause one of them to slip up and reveal something too personal. Yes, she already knew who he was but she wouldn't take advantage of that during their encounters. Hex on the other hand… She wasn't sure yet. She sighed, ”I really should rest now.”
Killian nodded. "Do you want a bed? The guest bedroom is…a little messy, but the bed sheets and blankets are clean if you would prefer a bed rather than my couch." He replied, standing and brushing his hands off on his legs. "But it's your choice."
Jade shook her head. ”The couch is fine. I probably shouldn't move too much and I don't really need a lot of space. But I thank you for the offer.” she ran her fingers through her hair. ”I can try to leave in the morning. I’ve inconvenienced you enough already.”
Killian nodded. "Alright." He replied. "I'm heading to my room, then. Uhm…if you want to watch something, then the remotes are right there." He gestured, then started walking to leave the room.
”Again, thank you but I think I’ll just sleep.” Jade stated with a polite nod. ”Goodnight, Hex.” She nestled into a comfortable position, propping her head against the arm of the couch.
Killian nodded, and left. He went to his own room, sighing softly as he got ready for bed. Murmuring a spell under his breath, he cast a protective spell over first his room, then a secondary one over the house. No one could enter the house without permission, and no one could enter his room either.
Jade was completely exhausted from her earlier ordeal but wasn't able to fully relax enough to sleep easily. It took her a couple hours before she finally dozed off into a fitful slumber… the nightmares didn't help much either.
(if you want a time skip till morning, go ahead.)
That morning…
When Killian woke up, he stretched lazily and left his room, having completely forgotten about the visitor in his downstairs. He was wearing a tank top and loose pajama pants as he went into the kitchen and began making breakfast. He hummed softly as he did so, his black hair tangled and messy.
Jade was not a morning person. Like a computer, she had a slow ”start-up” where even her power was sluggish, though she had suspected her power was the cause of the problem. Hearing the noise from the kitchen she groaned stiffly as she sat up trying to work out the kinks in her neck before she froze not recognizing her surroundings.
Killian didn't hear her, humming softly as he made himself breakfast. He still had yet to remember his guest in living room, unused to anyone sleeping over at his home. Unused to anyone being in his house, period, really.
As she looked around, she noticed that she was still half in her costume with her helmet off. Oh, God… What happened last night? ”Come on, think!” Jade growled softly before her eyes widened in panic. I was drugged and I was… ”Oh, please, no. Please…” she choked back a sob.
Killian heard her, and came in. His eyes widened, and it took him a moment to remember. "Er…Brainwave? Are you alright?" He asked softly, coming over.
(Hey, just a heads-up, I'm going to California so my replies will be much slower)
(It's ok, I understand. Have fun in Cali!)
Jade snapped a harsh glare as soon as he spoke, though the effect was ruined by the tears in her eyes she was barely holding back. ”Don’t touch me!” she hissed, pulling back even though he wasn't very close yet.
(alright. Thanks!)
Killian raised an eyebrow. "Fine. Wasn't planning on it." He replied. The tank top he was wearing showed his arms, showing scars that arced up and down them, along with a small tattoo on his left shoulder. "Are you alright?"
It took a moment before she finally recognized him and where she was. Once she did Jade let out a shaky breath and relaxed minutely. ”Oh, Hex. Yes, I'm alright. I apologize; it sometimes takes a minute for my mind to wake up. I forgot… I'm sorry.” she explained brushing away any evidence of her teary-eyes.
Killian shook his head. "It's alright." He replied. "To be honest, I uh…kinds forgot you were here." He admitted, scratching the back of his neck.
Jade chuckled a little awkwardly, turning to face him fully. ”I understand. You probably don't have many visitors here.” her eyes trailed over his scared arms as if she were counting them.
He shook his head. "Try none and you would be a bit closer." He gave a wry chuckle. He shrugged slightly. "You hungry? I'm working on breakfast." He gestured with his thumb back towards the kitchen.
”I understand.” Jade nodded. She didn't usually have many friends visit her home either. It was usually safer to spend less time with people out of costume as long as she didn't become a shut-in. That would be suspicious. ”Would you like some help cooking?”
Killian shook his head. "I've got it." He went back to the kitchen, and finished making breakfast. He came back with two plates of eggs, setting one down in front of her. "Do you want milk? Water? Uhm…orange juice? Alcohol?"
”Water’s fine. It's a little too early for alcohol.” Jade snickered lightly, picking up the plate. ”Thank you.” she gave him a grateful smile.
