She frowned. “Daeshim don’t do that again, please,” she whispered, holding him as if she was afraid he would disappear. “Next time stay with me, okay?”
She frowned. “Daeshim don’t do that again, please,” she whispered, holding him as if she was afraid he would disappear. “Next time stay with me, okay?”
"Don't worry, Lily, I promise… I'm so sorry…" Daeshim promised as he set his head on top of Lily's. "Do you wanna go home?" He asked, his arms still around her.
“I can stay if you want to,” she suggested bravely, her tone edged with stubbornness. She was clearly upset, though, but mostly grateful to have Daeshim back with her.
"I don't think the game is going to start again, so maybe we could go to the park or something?" Daeshim was truely sorry for abandoning her, but it would have been a much bigger catastrophe if he hadn't.
“That sounds good,” she agreed, pulling back a bit and smiling up at him. “The park is good.”
Dae smiled, letting go of Lily as well but he kept ahold of one of her hands. He slowly started leading her to his car. "Do you need anything, food or something, before we get to the park?"
“I’m good,” she responded, smiling at him. “Let’s go.” She felt so much better now that Daeshim was with her.
Daeshim nodded and brought her to his car, opening the passenger door for her, quickly going to the other side to get in. Upon hopping in, he saw his Matrix costume on the backseat. But he couldn't move it without Lily noticing. He just hoped she didn't look in the back.
Lily sat down and shut the door, buckling her seat belt. “Sorry for freaking out,” she apologized, feeling better. “I just don’t know what I’d do without you.”
"Nono, it's okay, I totally understand. It was scary and I really feel bad for leaving." Dae looked over to Lily, reaching his hand over to her's and taking it. He started the car and started to the park, still holding her hand.
She smiled at him, blushing slightly. They’d been friends basically forever, and some people thought that they were dating because of how comfortable they were around each other. As she glanced at him, she wondered what it would be like to kiss him. As soon as she had the thought, she looked away. He probably didn’t feel the same.
“It’s fine, just please don’t leave me like that again.”
Daeshim glanced to Lily for a second, a little flutter in his chest appeared seeing her slight blush. He smiled and focused on the road again, this time remembering to take a back road to the park. Dae was ever so thankful for their friendship, he couldn't imagine life without her. He would probably be a very different person if he hadn't met her. He didn't want to split paths when they left high school, at least he didn't have to worry about that for a year or two.
“It’s actually kind of a nice night, now that Earthquake is gone,” Lily commented, leaning her head against the window again. Her long hair spilled over the door.
Daeshim smiled, "It sure is. I'm glad Matrix took care of him…" His mind wandered to his costume in the back again, slightly strengthening his grip on Lily's hand, unconsciously. He turned into a small road leading to the park.
“Yeah, he’s always there just in time,” Lily agreed, her eyes shining with adoration. “He’s so cool! Who do you think he is?”
"I know right? I really have no idea who he could be though. I guess that's just going to be one of the many unanswered questions in the world." Daeshim turned into the parking lot and parked his car. He slowly let go of Lily's hand and got out of the car going around to open the door for Lily.
She smiled and hopped out of the car. “Thanks!” she chirped. “Probably no one will know, and that’s probably a good thing. That way Matrix can keep his identity safe. But it’d still be cool to know.”
"Yeah… it would be pretty cool." Daeshim sighed, both wishing he could tell Lily Matrix's identity and glad that she didn't see his costume. Once she got out, he closed the door and casually took ahold of her hand again.
Lily flushed, her face getting warm. What was with her lately? “How cool would it be to know a superhero?” she wondered aloud. She chuckled. “We can totally talk about something else now. You know I just love superheroes.”
"No yeah, it'd be super cool!" Daeshim smiled glancing at Lily before starting to laugh at his joke. "I don't mind talking about superheroes at all, their pretty amazing."
Lily nodded, a self-concious smile on her face. “Yeah…I’ve always kind of imagined what it would be like, to meet a superhero,” she sighed wistfully. “Do you remember when we were little I wore the same Wonder Woman costume three years in a row?” She laughed, caught up in the memory.
Daeshim's smile grew. "Oh I remember, it was adorable!" He had definitely not been as into superheroes as Lily, which is strange considering he is one. But when he did become Matrix, he was definitely more interested. "I hope you meet one someday, it would be pretty amazing.
“Yeah,” she sighed dreamily. “But anyway, are you excited for the homecoming dance next week?” She was sure that he’d heard her talk about superheroes enough times to last him a lifetime at this point.
"Oh yes, definitely!" Daeshim said excitedly. Homecoming was always such a fun thing for him. Every day of the week he went all out with dressing up, just like football games, and he was always involved in the activities. "Has anyone asked you to the dance yet? After all, there's only a week until the dance."
Lily blushed, looking away. “Not yet…” she admitted, before glancing back at Daeshim to ask him basically the same question. “Has anyone asked you?”
"Ah, nope. I'm surprised though, for you. I mean it's normal for me not to be asked, but you? Haven't you been asked every year?" Daeshim asked with a smile. He was actually thinking of asking Lily this year, it was a relief to hear that no one had asked her yet.
“Yeah, I have,” she responded, a smile tugging at her lips. One year she was actually asked by two different guys, though she felt awful having to turn one of them down. Something in her was kind of glad no one had asked him yet. Maybe she could ask him?
"That's what I thought," Daeshim said with a nod. He lead Lily to a bench by a little water fountain and sat down, his hand still holding her's. His mind was already racing with different ways to ask her to the dance, wanting to make it special.
Lily leaned her head on his shoulder, her long hair draping over Daeshim’s back. “This is nice,” she sighed. “Honestly, I think I like this better than I would’ve liked the football game.” As much as Lily enjoyed being around people, she definitely liked being with only one or two people more than with a huge crowd.
"Yeah, it is. I'm glad we decided to come here." Said Dae as he leaned his head lightly onto Lily's. "Although, I am a little bummed that the football game ended early." He did love the energy of the crowds. It was so invigorating to him.
