(No no it's okay, I would have probably done the same honestly.)
Daeshim started laughing. "It's just Jason, he tells me everything before they announce it to the school. I think he said they are choosing between cowboy, superhero, and tie-dye themes. I think today's theme will be the best all year." He said as he changed lanes so he could turn onto the school road.
“Oh my gosh yes!” Lily exclaimed. “I kind of hope they go with the superhero one. It’d be so fun to dress like heroes! What if I did like a female version of Matrix? Or what if you dressed like him? You’d be like, his twin!”
(Did you just read my mind? I was hoping Lily would say that!)
Daeshim took in a small, sharp breath. He nodded. "I don't think I could pull it off, and like, his costume is amazing!" A silly smile formed on his lips when saying that. "But I bet you could pull it off! But yeah the superhero theme would definitely be awesome." Turning into the school parking lot, he parked his car as close to the field as possible and put it in park.
(ooh telepathyyy)
“You could totally pull it off!” Lily replied encouragingly. “But if you don’t want to, then you could dress as someone else. Maybe I will go as him, then.” She grinned and opened the door, hopping out of the car in excitement. “Okay now we just need to find someone to take our picture for us! My dad will be so upset if I don’t get a full body one.” She giggled.
(Yesss!)
"Oh thanks, Lily! Speaking of Jason, I bet he would take the picture… he's also running up to my car anyway." Daeshim said as he hopped out of the car, locking it before approaching Jason. "Hey, mannn! You look great, but you have to admit, mine beats it." He said with a smile. "OH! Would you mind taking me and Lily's picture? Make sure you get a full-body shot."
"Yeah, who's phone should I use?" Asked Jason holding out his hand.
“You can use mine, thanks!” Lily added, handing it to Jason. “Should we do a pose or just do that awkward smiling thing? Definitely a pose, right?” she asked Daeshim, trying to think of a fun pose.
Jason took Lily's phone and positioned himself far enough away to see their whole bodies. "Definitely a pose, no question." Daeshim got into a fun position next to Lily, while she did the same. Jason took multiple pictures and handed the phone back to Lily. "So Dae, we voted on the theme for the next game, and guess what! It's the superhero theme! I think you should totally dress up as Matrix. He's such a cool dude and you would look almost exactly like him!"
“That’s what I told him!” Lily agreed. “He said he couldn’t pull it off, but I can totally see it! You’d look great, Dae. But no pressure. It’s not like we’re going to force you.” She gave Jason a look like right?, hoping that he wouldn’t push it if it continued to make Daeshim uncomfortable.
"Oh I guess I'll do it. But, Lily, you definitely have to help me get the costume together." Daeshim agreed with a smile. He looked over to the football field, the tunnel started. "Oh man, we should get seated, the game'll start soon!!" He put his arms around Lily and Jason's shoulders and started walking.
Lily beamed. “Okay! And I’d seriously love to help with your costume,” she added, walking with them. Even though it was an everyday thing, Daeshim putting his arm around her shoulders made her skin tingle, though she couldn’t explain it. She chalked it up to her excitement for the game, which was mirrored on her friends’ faces.
"That's great!" Daeshim was interested to see what Lily would come up with and he was contemplating wearing his actual costume. He showed his activity card to the ticket person and walked through the gates. "Okay, we need to sit right in the middle of the student section. I have a good feeling about this game."
“Ooh definitely,” Lily replied. “Fingers crossed it goes well.” She giggled. “Our team is pretty good this year though; I have faith in them.”
"Yeah, I think this is the best team we've had in a bit." Daeshim steered them to the stands and started going up the stairs, spotting an empty spot perfect for the three of them. They got to their spot as the marching band started performing the star-spangled banner, as always. As they finished, Daeshim smiled. "Perfect timing!"
Lily grinned. “As always,” she agreed. She looked across the field, the energy of everyone’s excitement building her own. She really enjoyed the dressing up and seeing her friends more than the game itself, but was enthused nonetheless. The energy at the games was almost like magic some nights, and tonight looked to be one of those nights.
Daeshim loved seeing everyone's outfits, none of which ever compared to him and Lily's though. Just the year before, he didn't understand anything about football, but since going to so many games, he understood how it worked pretty well. Football games gave him so much energy, with the pep band playing, the cheers from both the student section and the cheerleaders, the abundance of junk food at the concession stand, the dressing up, and the game its self.
Lily turned and beamed at Daeshim as the band finished playing. “I’m going to go get myself a candy bar, do you want anything?” she asked. She had a massive sweet tooth, and a candy bar was her go-to football game snack.
"How about I come with you and see what they have this time?" Daeshim smiled, as he stood up to go with Lily. He wouldn't be able last the entirety of the game without his fix of junk food.
Lily shrugged. “Works for me,” she replied, getting up. She liked to go get concessions right before the game started, because she was less likely to miss something important. If they missed anything, Jason would catch them up, she figured.
They walked to the concession stand together, Daeshim had a small spring in his step. The announcers were still speaking so they weren't missing anything and they were early enough that the line wasn't too long.
“Doesn’t it just feel like a football game? Like I know that sounds obvious but haven’t you noticed that the games have a certain atmosphere? It’s so nice!” she remarked. Secretly she hoped that nothing bad would happen.
(I know that we might not need this yet, but do you want to play the villain(s) or should i? i don’t mind either way)
"It sure does! I totally understand what you mean there's definitely a unique atmosphere specific to football games and it gives me so much energy!" Daeshim smiled at Lily, stepping forward in the line. He started lightly tapping his foot wanting the line to move faster so they wouldn't miss the start of the game.
(It might be easier if you played the villain(s) since Daeshim is the superhero.)
Lily smiled back. “It’s so cool!” she agreed, before the ground shuddered violently. “Umm…what was that?”
(cool cool. there’s about to be a villain attack then lol. my dude’s name will be Earthquake ahah)
"We aren't supposed to get earthquakes here, right? We aren't on a fault line, right?" Daeshim knew the answers to both of those, but he asked anyway. He was just hoping he wouldn't have to leave and take care of it, tonight was supposed to be a fun care-free activity.
“Not that I know of…” Lily responded as the ground heaved beneath their feet. She ended up with her arms around Daeshim, blushing. “Um, sorry about that… What do you think is with this weird shifting? It’s not like we have a lot of earthquakes around here.”
Daeshim had actually put his arms around Lily, protectively. "No worries. But I, uh, have no idea." Inside, he was on red alert, having an idea of what was happening, he really didn't want to have to do anything. His heartbeat was a little faster, hopefully not too much faster to where Lily would notice.
After a third heave, Lily was glancing around frantically. “This can’t be normal…” she muttered, clearly worried. “At least I have you with me.” She offered Daeshim a wobbly smile.
Meanwhile, on the field Earthquake was standing, having swiped a megaphone from a cheerleader. “My name is Earthquake, and no one is going to win this football game because it’s not going to happen!” He cackled melodramatically.
Daeshim sighed, as he lightly ran his hand up and down Lily's arm to comfort her. He needed to do something about this, but there was no way he could leave her behind. He frantically looked around, but, of course, there was nothing in sight to help him.
Lily bit her lip. “Do you think Matrix is going to get here? I mean I’m totally terrified right now, but it would still be kind of awesome to have him show up at our school’s football game. Oh gosh I hope everyone else is okay!” Her phone started ringing and she fished it out of her pocket. “It’s Rose,” she said, answering it. “Hello. I’m fine. Yes, I’m with Daeshim. I don’t know. I don’t know.”
“Don’t have your little friend Matrix to save you now, do you?” Earthquake taunted. “Maybe we should see what happens when the earth splits in two beneath your feet!”
