Daeshim tensed upon the mention of Matrix. His eyes glanced around ferociously. "Hey, Lily, can I bring you to Jason? I have to make sure… Eli is okay… yeah. Jason is just as good as I am." He felt so bad for doing that, but he had to, it was his duty.
She glanced at him, her eyes wide and trusting. “Okay,” she said to him before adding into the phone, “I’m fine, Rose. Mhmm. Love you, bye.” She hung up and put it in her pocket. She was a bit confused as to why Daeshim felt the need to do that, but Jason was his friend and he was probably making sure that he was okay too.
Daeshim sent her a comforting smile. Many people were fleeing so it was easy to go back to Jason without Earthquake noticing two people moving somewhere. He lead Lily to where Jason was, arms still around her. "Hey Jason, could you please kreply Lily safe? I need check on someone."
"Of course, man." Jason nodded.
"Thank you so so much!" Daeshim smiled and hesitantly let go of Lily. "Lily, you're going to be okay, alright."
She nodded. “Okay, hope that whoever you’re looking for is all right.”
“Where is that pesky Matrix? Ah well,” Earthquake mused, splitting open a part of the bleachers with several people there, on the opposite side of Daeshim and Lily. Screams rang out through the field.
Daeshim had already started running to his car, where his costume always was. Opening the trunk then closing it, he changed it since it was open so he could access it from the back seat. His costume was pretty simple. Just black cargo pants making sure to have many pockets, even though he rarely used them. He has a dark green and black horizontally striped tee shirt with a black trench coat thing, but it's always open. He also has similar glasses to the dude in that picture. (He's such a nerd… So am I) And last, he has black combat boots with dark green laces, his hair put back with a hair tie in a super pathetic man bun since he doesn't quite have enough hair for a good one, but just enough where it gets in the way if it's not back.
Lily bit her lip as she watched the others panic and glanced at Jason, trying not to let her fear show through. She was small and fragile, but also brave.
Earthquake surveyed the damage so far with glee. “Well, if he doesn’t get here, I’ll have fun at least~” he said to himself, before shaking the ground once again and looking for a new victim.
Daeshim finished getting ready, sighing before he left his car. Zooming out to the field, he hid behind the bell, waiting to make his move. At the moment Earthquake wasn't looking in his general direction, Daeshim ran up to him, using his power to move in basically double time. He swept Earthquake from his feet, standing back. He sent a small smile in Lily's direction and focused back on Earthquake.
“There you are, Trix. I knew you’d show up eventually. Just have to save these poor teenagers, don’t you?” he taunted, getting to his feet. “Always so damn good. It’s annoying. But you have to go for the cliches, don’t you? Cliches are the worst, hero boy.” Clearly Earthquake was not aware he was a bit of a cliche himself.
Lily held her breath as Matrix took Earthquake down, and when he smiled in her direction her heart stopped for a moment. She had had a crush on Matrix since she saw his first battle, just like practically half the girls her age. But unlike them, Lily didn’t want to admit it. She was sure her friends would tease her, and she wondered if she might have feelings for someone else as well.
Daeshim shook his head at Earthquake. But before he could take another step, Matrix sped toward him at double speed, to everyone else, swiftly punching him in the jaw. He didn't really know much else to do besides hand-to-hand combat. He was kind of a stand-alone hero with no outside help. That made it hard for him to be unique, but at least he tried.
Earthquake’s head snapped back, which led to a few people cheering in the stands. Earthquake glared in their direction, the ground under his feet beginning to rumble. Suddenly the whole section of the bleachers came apart, causing kids and adults alike to run away, but some people were trapped, slipping towards the big crack in the middle.
“Whatcha gonna do now, Matrix? You can’t defeat me and save them,” he cooed.
Lily stared at the section in alarm. It wasn’t where she and Jason were, but it wasn’t far from them either. She bit her lip, hoping that everyone would be okay and also slightly glad that it wasn’t her section falling apart, which she instantly felt a bit guilty for.
Matrix had his eyes wide, even though no one could see them. It was his duty to protect people, and that's what he will do. Sprinting, at normal speed to him but super speed to literally everyone else, he made his way over to the stands, gliding over the fence surrounding it. He quickly went over to the big crack, going around the people running away. His heart jumped into his throat when he saw how many people were sliding toward the crack. Jumping right to it, he started pulling people away from it so they could run away as well, almost slipping a couple of times. One by one, everyone was speedily moved away from the crack. Glancing around, he saw Lily and Jason, as well as the people near them. Swiftly, he made his way to them then motioning for them to run away just in case. Matrix looked back at Earthquake worried, less than 5 minutes had passed.
Lily noticed the gesture. She glanced at Jason fearfully, then took his hand and ran so they wouldn’t get separated. It wasn’t the same as being with Deashim, was Jason’s company made her feel a bit better. “Where’s Daeshim?!” she asked Jason, alarmed. She scanned the crowd for him, her heart pounding.
Earthquake snickered, looking around for his next victims. He had always hated high school football, because that’s where all of the annoying “cool kids” went and then got so excited over nothing. And he was the weird one.
For now Earthquake wasn’t really trying his to do his worst, though. He was just toying with Matrix really, as he looked for a way to actually hurt the hero. He had fought Matrix before to no avail, but, like every time, he was sure this would be the one where he finally beat the other boy.
(So sorry this is so late, I was a bit more busy than usual)
After everyone had gotten off the stands and started running away, Matrix looked back at Earthquake. Dashing back to him, he stopped, standing right in front of him. "Hey… I know you can here to do some damage, but please… you know how hard it is to beat me, you know the best actually." A little chuckle escaped his mouth, but he was serious an instant after. Daeshim was really tired of these kinds of bad guys getting in the way of something as trivial as a high school football game. Looking back at the crowd, he saw how frantic and panicked Lily and Jason were. All he wanted to do was go back over there and tell them he was safe, but that wasn't really an action.
(i totally get it! it’s all good)
“Shut up, hero boy,” Earthquake snapped. “I’m going to kick your ass and you’ll eat those words.” He caused the ground under Matrix to shake violently.
Lily couldn’t see Daeshim anywhere. “He had to have gotten away, right? But what if he didn’t? Maybe I should go back,” she said to Jason.
Matrix shook with the ground, managing to stay standing. He started carefully running around Earthquake, not really sure what to do. He was kind of out of it that night, not up to his normal skill or thinking process.
Jason kept ahold of Lily's hand, not letting her leave. "I bet he left, and he would want you to risk your life just to check if he made it out. Matrix made sure everyone was okay, so I bet Dae is.
Earthquake laughed. “Oh no, Matrix is running around me, whatever shall I do!” he mocked, a wicked grin on his face.
“What if he didn’t?” Lily asked, glancing back. She knew that Jason was probably right, but she couldn’t bear the thought of anything happening to Daeshim.
"I really don't know. I'm just tired, okay?" Matrix sighed and stopped behind Earthquake, stepping back a little. He prepped and ninja kicked him from behind. Not sure that it would do anything, he did it anyway.
"I know he did, he went off away from the bleachers. I thought I saw him head towards the parking lot actually."
Earthquake landed on his face. Today might be his day! He laughed, going to get up. “Oh, really?”
Lily sighed, turning back towards Jason. “You’re right. Let’s go find him.”
"Yeah." Matrix said unenthusiastically as he pushed Earthquake while he was getting up. A sigh escaped his mouth as he looked down at him.
Jason nodded, leading Lily to the parking lot to look for Daeshim.
Earthquake glared at him, trying once again to stand back up. He was getting quite annoyed with Matrix, truth be told. But he didn’t want to just give because the other boy “wasn’t in the mood for fighting”. He wanted to use that to win. Somehow.
Daeshim sighed, lightly rolling his eyes. Since Earthquake was still kind of on the ground, he tried grabbing him in a chokehold. Matrix didn't feel like he was doing a very good job of protecting the citizens, but at least he was trying, right?
Earthquake’s eyes flashed with rage, but he couldn’t do much because he wasn’t very physically strong. He was scrawny, honestly, and a bit on the short side. I need to go to the gym, he sighed internally. His powers hadn’t given him any heightened strength, unforunately.
Matrix sighed to himself and tightened his grip on Earthquake. "What're you gonna do now, huh?" A little smile appeared on his lips. He honestly wasn't sure how or when the bad guys decide to leave or give up or whatever.
Earthquake just grunted and glared at the other boy. “Okay, whatever, you win,” he sighed. He may have powers, but in the end he was just a scrawny nerd. He really needed to go to the gym.
Meanwhile Lily was getting a bit nervous. “I don’t see Daeshim anywhere…”
Matrix squeezed a little harder before letting go. "I see, thanks, man. You know this is the 4th time I've beaten you though, right?" He wasn't trying to sound cocky or anything, it just came out really. "I'm going to wait here until you are very far out of sight."
Earthquake glared at him. “Whatever.” He trudged away in defeat, giving Matrix the finger on the way out.
“Do you see Daeshim?” Lily asked Jason, her anxiety rising.
Daeshim laughed a bit to himself as Earthquake left. He stopped remembering Lily and Jason. He rushed to his car, making sure no one noticed him. He wouldn't be able to look exactly like how he did before, but he could try. Quickly hopping in the back to change, he crouched down as much as he could which made it more difficult for him. Eventually, he had on his original attire and he hopped out of his car and moved behind some cars before stepping out into the parking lot to find his friends.
Jason scanned the parking lot, seeing Daeshim as he came out from behind the cars. He let out a relieved breath and pointed to Dae.
Lily sighed with relief and run towards Daeshim, enveloping him a hug. “Where were you?” she cried. “I was so worried!”
"I'm here now and that's all that matters," Daeshim replied as he wrapped his arms around Lily, a little smile on his face. He gave a slight nod to Jason and he left. Dae moved one of his hands up to Lily's hair and started lightly running his hand through it. "Everything is okay…"
