“So do I!” Ian agreed. “Death of a Bachelor is my favorite album. What’s yours?”

"Same, actually. All my favorites are in it," Cassie smiled slightly.

“So what do you think of their newer stuff? Like that song with Taylor Swift?” Ian asked, actually wanting to hear her opinion.

Cassie grimaced. "It's… not as good as they used to be. Plus, I don't like Taylor Swift. She was better before she became pop."

“My thoughts exactly!” Ian replied. “Like, their new music isn’t awful but it’s just not what it used to be. I kind of like High Hopes, though, as far as their newer stuff goes. That song isn’t bad.”

Cassie nodded. "I actually really like High Hopes, but most of the others are just… meh."

“When did you start listening to them? I started right before Death of a Bachelor, which is probably why it’s my favorite album,” Ian explained.

"I actually started when I was really little, around when Pretty Odd came out," Cassie said shyly.

“Really? That’s cool!” Ian exclaimed. “So you were already a fan when I started listening. You got, like, a head start.” He laughed gently.

Cassie smiled softly. "I guess so."

"You know me, the same old, same old. Of course it's more school stuff. You already know enough about me, what about you? You haven't exactly told me much about you, or even talked to me much, for that matter. Have you gotten a change of heart?" Kaori pushed his glasses up again. He got up and walked outside of the building and peered left and right, trying to see if he could spot that one place from where he was.

“Some other good bands are Madeon, Bad Suns, The Aces, and Fall Out Boy. Also Echosmith is good. That’s some I like, anyway,” Ian added. “What other ones do you like?”

"Er, except for Panic, I'm not really into modern music. I like The Beattles a lot, and Simon and Garfunkle. There's a lot of good music from the 50s," she rushed excitedly, then looked back at the ground. "Sorry, that - that was weird."

“You don’t have to apologize; it wasn’t weird,” Ian responded. “I like The Beatles. What 50s music do you like? Maybe I’ll have to try it, since you have good music taste.” He smiled.

Cassie shrugged. "I don't know about particular bands, just the sort of… I don't know. Vibe? That 50s music gives me is nice."

Ian nodded. “That makes sense. Seriously, though, I might have to listen to some 50s music. Wait, I know! We could make each other playlists with songs we like! Or whatever, like, if you think that’d be cool…” He was clearly excited about the idea but tried to act like he didn’t care either way.

Cassie gave a quiet laugh. "That'd be cool, yeah," she smiled slightly.

Ian grinned in response. “Cool. Wait, you don’t have my number, do you?”

Cassie shook her head, pulling out her phone and pulling up the contacts list. "Here, d'you want to add it?"

“Sure,” Ian said, typing it into her phone. “There.” He was almost reluctant to have to drop her off at home now. He wanted to talk for longer, though he had no clue where she lived or how far away it was. He handed her back the phone.

Cassie quickly sent him a hi! "There, now you've got mine - oh, we're gonna turn left here," she motioned to the left.

Ian did as she instructed. “Okay,” he replied. “So what kind of books do you like?”

Cassie snorted. "What kind of books don't I like?" Sha laughed quietly. "I love anything YA, really."

“Maybe you can give me some suggestions!” Ian said. “I’ve been on a bit of a slump recently but I really like fantasy stuff. I’m not picky though. Historical fiction and sci-fi are cool too.”

Cassie nodded, laughing a bit. "I'd never have thought you were a reader," she commented.

Ian blushed slightly. “Most people don’t. I love reading though,” he admitted. “Don’t tell that to anyone though. It’ll mess up my image.” He laughed conspiratorially.

Cassie rolled her eyes. "Right, because I'm the type of person who'd do that. I am, however, offended that cool people aren't allowed to read."

Ian shrugged. “Yeah, I don’t get it either. Sometimes I feel like I’m just putting on this persona for everyone else. It gets really tiring, actually. Don’t tell anyone I said that, either.”

"Don't worry, I have 5 siblings. I'm good at keeping secrets," she smiled.

Ian smiled back. “That must be fun,” he said. “I’m an only child, so.”
