(Yeah! I’m already really liking where this rp is going)
Hunter finished his last lap around the track, only a bit of sweat coming off his forehead. The teacher just released them to go to the locker rooms and change, giving them a bit of extra time off today. Hunter made his way down to the locker room, talking with one of his football friends.
(So am I! Also, am I doing an okay job playing Milo? I've never rped as a guy before…)
Milo finished his last lap a couple minutes after Hunter. He was dreading the locker room, but he had to go, it was the rule. Heading to the locker rooms alone, Milo took a few deep breaths in an attempt to be calmer during the few minutes inside. Once he got inside, he quietly went to his locker to change. He was glad Hunter hadn't noticed him… yet.
(You are doing absolutely awesome! I love Milo, he’s so cute haha lol)
There weren’t many guys in the locker room yet, most were still out in the gyms shooting a few more hoops before they planned to get changed. Hunter was taking off his shirt just as one of his friends muttered, “Hey look, it’s that stupid guy who does your homework. He’s so annoying.”
Hunter turned his head, setting his shirt down with a smirk. “I’ll be right back,” He told his friends, before swaggering over to Milo. He approached him from behind, then grabbed him by his hair, “Sup nerd, ready for another lesson?” He sneered, pushing his shoulder against the locker. Only one thing was different this time. It was the faint glow coming from Hunter’s chest, that only seemed to get brighter by the second.
(Btw, I forgot to mention this, but in their world, the concept of your chest glowing when finding your soulmate isn’t incredibly common but still well known)
(Awe thanks!)
Milo had closed his eyes as Hunter grabbed his hair. After nothing came, he hesitantly opened his eyes noticing the glow from Hunter's chest. He looked down at his own and it was doing the same. Confusion filled his face as he looked between the both of them. "D-do you… do you know what this m-means?" His voice was quiet and full of confusion and worry.
Hunter was staring at Milo’s chest, his face in utter shock. Then he quickly released Milo’s head, jumping back, “No, nonononono, no. This must be a mistake.” He took another step back, the glow fading slightly the farther he was away from Milo. Hunter shook his head, at loss for words. It had to be a mistake, it just had to be.
Milo was staring at Hunter in utter disbelief. This couldn't be happening. Why him, him of all the people out there. He sat down on one of the benches, raking his hands through his hair. What was this going to do for Milo's future encounters with Hunter? That thought was slowly taking over Milo's head.
Hunter finally dragged his eyes away from the faint glow in their chests, looking Milo in the eyes, “We’re going to talk after school, okay?” Although Hunter didn’t wait to hear a reply, instead turning around and going back to put a clean shirt on. His friends didn’t notice the encounter thankfully. Hunter just didn’t know what to think about it. About what it meant.
Milo nodded, now more afraid than he has ever been. He sat on the bench a little, holding his hands in his hair. Realizing the time, Milo quickly changed into his regular clothes and left the locker room. He slid down on the floor, trying to understand what just happened.
Hunter didn’t talk to his friends much during passing time, saying he head a headache. He went to his last class in the day, without dare glancing at where Milo usually sat. Hunter had a girlfriend, Milo just couldn’t be his soulmate. It didn’t make any sense. He was wrapped up in his own head throughout the class, although his eyes kept drifting to the clock.
For the first time since 5th grade Milo didn't pay attention in his classes. His mind was so scattered. As time passed Milo got more scared about what Hunter was going to do. He seemed mad and confused and to Milo, that's never a good thing. Every minute or so he looked up at the clock. He considered trying to run away again, but he knew he would never out run Hunter.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the bell rang to release them. Hunter swiftly walked out of the room, but he forced himself to stop just outside and wait for Milo. He tapped his foot nervously, trying to think of what he was going to do.
Milo sighed as the bell rang. He saw Hunter leave the classroom quickly. Milo started fidgeting with his fingers, then he put his hands in his pockets, then back out to fidget. Hesitantly, he left the classroom noticing Hunter waiting by the door for him. He stopped facing Hunter, shrinking down a little, just waiting for whatever Hunter was going to do.
Hunter looked at him for a moment, before finally muttering, “Come with me.” He turned and walked, not even checking to see if Milo was following him. In all honesty, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted Milo to follow him. If he wanted to face the circumstances. Hunter walked out of closest exit of the school, an exit that students never used, so they’d be alone.
Milo nodded and followed close behind Hunter. As they went through the exit, he was confused, but he knew better than to question him. His hand settled with fidgeting.
Hunter finally turned back to look at Milo. Then he glanced down at himself, pulling up his shirt a little to reveal the faint glow. “D-mm it,” He muttered, looking back at Milo. “I have a girlfriend, so don’t think that,” Hunter pointed from his chest to Milo’s, “is going anywhere. This is between you and me.”
Milo peered down at his own chest, to see the same thing and he sighed. "I… I understand." Milo said quietly with a nod. "Um… what are we going to do about this?…"
“We’re going to shut up about it, that’s what,” Hunter muttered. “We don’t have to do what fate wants us to. You and I never have to talk to each other again.” Hunter crossed his arms over his chest, frowning. “No one needs to know about this.” For some reason, Hunter had a sick feeling in his chest about it. He was… scared. He absolutely hated that feeling.
Milo nodded some more. "O-okay… sounds good to me…" He put his hands in his pockets. Honestly, he was a little disappointed. He wasn't exactly sure why. Maybe he thought something interesting would happen in his life. "So… can I, uh, go now?"
Hunter stared at him for a moment, “Uh- yeah,” He spat out, a little bit out anger spilling out of him. He looked away, clenching his fists. Maybe he just needed to go out with Lexi sometime, to get his mind off it.
(So like what if Hunter went out with his girlfriend later and Milo was walking by and Hunter’s chest started glowing through his shirt and then stuff happens from there?)
(OOOOO YES! XD Maybe there could be a school event so it's not too coincidental that they ran into each other?)
Milo quickly scampered off, relieved to get away from Hunter. He walked over to a bench and sat down. Once again running his hands through his hair then resting his head in his hands. Why was it today, it could have happened any other time. But the idea of soulmates was always cool to Milo, so he was also almost excited.
(Ooo yeah, that’d be awesome! Is Milo in any clubs like robotics or something? Maybe there could be a fair or something and there could be booths sponsoring different clubs?)
Hunter walked back in school, going to his locker and grabbing his bags. He pulled out his phone and texted Lexi to see if they could go on a date sometime soon. Maybe they could go to that [Event] together.
(That's a great idea! Maybe Milo could be part of the Quiz bowl and there's a stand for that!)
Milo sat up and pulled out his phone. He had to get to Quiz Bowl practice. He stood up and headed to the classroom that hosts it. Tonight was important for the group, it was their opportunity to more recruit people and that was a huge deal. He made it to the classroom and, as always, he was the first one there.
(Ooo yeah!)
Lexi texted Hunter back, saying she’d come. Hunter relaxed a bit at that. He just needed some quality time with her, everything would be fine. He left the school and got in his car to go pick her up. The fair would be fun, and it would get his mind off Milo.
(We can timeskip until they all get there if you want?)
(Yeah, let's time skip.)
2 minutes before the fair started, Milo finished setting up the last of the stand. He let out a breath. That was exactly what he needed to get his mind off of Hunter. He liked hanging out with his Quiz Bowl group, they always managed to make bad days less bad. The fair almost seemed more important to them than competitions. They were always one of the most decorated and flashy stands to attract as many people as possible. And it usually worked.
Hunter found a nice parking spot, sliding out of the car before walking around and opening the door for Lexi, who quickly was at his side. Lexi had long blonde hair and blue eyes accompanied by a perfect smile. Today she was wearing incredibly short shorts and a crop top that hung low on her chest. “This will be fun, Hunter,” She smiled, hanging on his arm as they approached the entrance to the fair that was just about to open. “Maybe we could go to your house after this, you know?” She asked with a grin. She had been asking him about that for a couple of weeks now.
“I don’t know, maybe,” He replied with a small, forced smile. He had never been quick to say yes, but maybe after what happened between him and Milo, that’s what he needed.
The fair opened, and Hunter paid for him and Lexi. They wandered in, and Lexi wanted to walk by the clubs’s booths to say hi to her cheerleader friends. The cheerleader’s booth was right next to the quiz bowl booth.
Milo was in the back waiting for it to start. He looked at his phone and rushed out to the front of the booth. He stood there with a couple of other members with a smile on his face. He noticed Lexi walking in the direction of the booth, and Hunter was accompanying her. His eyes widened, and his smile faded. All he wanted to do was go to the back again and wait for Hunter to leave. Of course, he couldn't do that though. As the couple got closer, Milo noticed a faint glow coming from his chest and it kept getting brighter. Milo glanced between his and Hunter's chest, worry obvious on his face.
Hunter didn’t notice the glow, or Milo for that matter, but one person did. “Oh my gosh,” Lexi gasped, stopping in her tracks. Which happened to be right in front of the quiz bowl booth.
Hunter raised his eyebrows, “What is it, babe?” Then he noticed the faint glow from his chest. Oh sh-t.
“Oh my gosh, Hunter, oh my gosh-“ She was smiling from ear to ear, “Hunter, we’re soulmates!” Lexi tackled him in a hug too quickly for Hunter to stop her.
“Lexi- Lexi, wait-“ She planted a huge kiss on his mouth, and Hunter gave her a gentle shove away. Confusion struck her face, but then she looked down at own chest.
“I- oh.” When she looked back, tears were hanging at the corners of her eyes. “I- I-“ She glanced around, but her eyes didn’t catch Milo’s glowing chest from so far away.
“Lexi, I can explain-“
“No, you-“ Lexi sniffled, “You don’t have to. I- I’m- I should go.” She began wiping at her eyes.
“Babe, wait, let me at least drive you home-“ Hunter reached out to grab her hand, but she swatted him away.
“I don’t think that would be a good idea. We- we shouldn’t be together Hunter.” Tears began dropping down her face, and she quickly turned and ran towards the cheerleading booth. Leaving Hunter standing there alone.
He whipped his head around, looking for Milo. He didn’t know whether to feel angry or sad or something else, but he definitely knew he wanted to talk to Milo. Then Hunter spotted him- at the quiz bowl booth. He stomped over, clenching and unclenching his fists as he approached.
During the whole situation, Milo was just watching them in disbelief, then worry. Oh no, Hunter was coming over to Milo, and he looked mad. Each step Hunter took closer to Milo, their chests got brighter. He shrinked back, expecting the worst to come.
He leaned on the quiz bowl booth when he got there, ignoring the other nerd manning the booth. “Milo, I need to talk to you,” He said, in almost a whisper. He meant it to come out strong and confident, but in all honesty he sounded… weak.
Milo nodded and quickly got out of his booth. "Er… follow me… I know a good place to… talk." He had no idea why he felt like he could say that to Hunter, but he did.
