"Berenice and I…we never really did things like this. The whole 'affection' thing."
"Berenice and I…we never really did things like this. The whole 'affection' thing."
"Who's Berenice?" Cas asked curiously, his tail twitching.
"She's…" for a moment, he pondered on whether it was a good idea to tell him. "an ex-lover of mine."
Cas nodded. "Is she the one who keeps making your phone light up?"
"Yes." He had told her they were threw, to never contact him again, but Berenice never took "no" for an answer. She had tried to get a hold of his number many times, result in him changing it numerous times. This was the ninth time she had figured it out.
He had to change it again. However, a new concern began to take place- concern for Cas. It's a matter of time before she figures out where I live.
(Oooo drama)
Cas watched Sorin's face curiously. "I take it that you don't want her to?"
(XD)
"She's a very bad person," though that didn't change the fact that he still loved the person she use to be.
(Always feel free to hurt my characters btw)
Cas nodded. "What did she do, if you don't mind my asking?"
God, so many things…so many awful things."Cas, I wish I had the stomach to tell you…"
"Okay… if you ever wanna tell me, I'm open to listening." Cas smiled softly and hugged Sorin to reassure him.
Sorin hugged him back and kissed the top of his head softly. "Thank you."
"Any time, love…" Cas murmured, burying his face in Sorin's shoulder.
The thought of Berenice getting her hands on him was horrific. Sorin held onto him tighter.
"You okay?" Cas glanced up at Sorin worriedly.
Sorin nodded. "Yeah. I just…like being close to you."
Cas smiled softly and held a little tighter to Sorin, purring. His ears turned back as he nuzzled against the angel's chest.
He regretted ever mentioning her name out loud, because now, memories of her began to resurface. The things she's done… Sorin cleared his throat and let go of Cas.
Cas looked up at Sorin, confused. His arms were still around the other's neck, and his tail curled around the both of them.
Berenice was… poison, an addiction, a great evil that lurked beneath angelic features. He looked at Cas, guilt bit at him for what he was about to do. "I, um…need to use the restroom really quick."
"Er… okay. Come back soon though!" Cas hugged him once more before releasing him, starting to brush through his hair with his fingers.
He ran upstairs and locked himself in the bathroom. He reached into his pocket and grabbed his phone, immediately turning it on. Sorin unlocked his phone, dialing her number and fumble as he put the phone on his ear.
He wanted to hear her the sound of her voice again, before cutting her off completely.
Once the ringing stopped, the first thing he heard was her laugh; her blissful laugh.
Cas just stayed where he was for a little while before getting distracted and starting to chase the ball of yarn again, ignoring how accident prone he seemed to be while doing so.
"Sorin." He didn't say anything as he pressed the phone tighter onto his ear. "Sorin… I know you're there. Talk to me." Again, he didn't say anything and slid to his knees as he put her on speaker.
He only wanted to hear her.
The brief silence was interrupted by her chuckle. "Now, you ignore my calls, texts, and voicemails and when it comes for you to call me, you ignore me again?" She said in a rather dead tone.
Cas heard a voice coming from the bathroom and went over, sitting by the door. Is this the Berenice he was talking about? He wondered, his sensitive ears picking up the words easily.
Sorin said nothing and continued to let her speak.
"Or do you miss me already? There must be a reason as to why you called me." She wasn't physically here, yet he knew that she was smiling. "Speak."
Cas silently pressed his ear against the door so he could hear better. It didn't seem to cross his mind that one: he was eavesdropping, and two: eavesdropping was rude.
"Now." Her voice was more stern.
Sorin sighed and gathered enough courage to finally speak to her. "Bereni-"
"Veronica, Sorin, it's Veronica. I do not go by that name anymore."
"Berenice," he continued. "I've told you over a million times that I don't want you to-"
"Don't lie to me. I'm a demon, I can smell your lies right through this screen."
A demon? Cas moved a bit closer to the door, trying to stay as quiet as possible.
"Listen, I can't," he lowered his voice. "I can't stay here for long, Berenice. Look, all i'm asking from you is space. I need space from you and that means leaving me alone."
"Is that what you wish to be? Alone?"
"Yes."
She took a deep breath and let out a low chuckle. "If that's the case, then who's the soul behind your door?"
Wait… she can sense me? Cas froze, his heart pounding before he bolted. He started pretending to play with the yarn and ran into the bookshelf again, but in his daze and with Sorin not being in the room, it actually fell on him this time.
