(Time for some drama)
Suddenly, there was a rustling in the trees beneath them.
Firiko was instantly on alert, flying a bit higher.
Suddenly, two men leaped from the trees. One missed and fell back down, but the other latched onto Firiko's leg.
Firiko yelped, pulled down by the sudden extra weight, and quickly losing altitude as he flapped.
Alex glanced down at the man.
"Let go of him!" Alex reached back, trying to slap the man's hand off. The man made a grab for him. In return, Alex thrust his hand at the man's throat. There was a gurgling sound, and suddenly there was no longer extra weight on Firiko's leg.
Firiko kept flapping, trying to steady his wingbeats, "Wh-what d-did you do?!"
"Nothing, I just got him off." Alex discreetly wiped his hand on a tissue before dropping it behind them. Soon, it was as if he had forgotten the entire encounter…
Firiko's ears stayed back and his movements showed his nervousness.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked, seeing the nervous state Firiko was in.
"We nearly got pulled out of the sky…" he said, "And i hate long distance flying to begin with."
"Well, we can set down and walk from here." Alex didn't want Firiko pushing himself.
"It's alright, I can keep going.. that just unnerved me.."
"Oh, okay." Alex looked to the mountain again, the eternal optimist.
Firiko's movements eventually steadied, and he kept to pace until the sun started to set.
Alex noticed the sun setting.
"Firiko, I think that's good for the day. We should set down."
Firiko nodded, his wings closing in such a a way tht they wer tilted down, guiding them toward the ground.
When they were a few feet from the ground, Alex leaped off. He walked after Firiko.
Firiko shifted, landing in a nearby tree.
Alex glanced around. Seeing there was room here for a camp, he started setting up.
Firiko atched from his perch, wondering if he should hunt or not.
Soon, Alex had the modest tent set up and a small fire burning.
Firiko eventually came down from his perch, leaving to hunt.
Alex glanced up to the tree he had last seen Firiko in. When he saw he wasn't there, he shrugged it off and placed his bag in the tent.
Firiko came back about half an hour later, carrying a his catch in case Alex wanted to share again.
When Firiko returned, he was greeted by the smell of cooking food.
"Suprise! I figured you were out hunting, so I gathered some herbs and roots and made a root melody!" Alex smiled brightly, motioning to a pot hanging over the fire.
Firiko smiled, shifting, "Wanna add some rabbit to that?"
