“I’m sure you’ll find a way around it,” Amber whispered, biting her lip as she peered up at him.
“I’m sure you’ll find a way around it,” Amber whispered, biting her lip as she peered up at him.
“Tell me about the man who hurt you,” William said gently. He had wanted to avoid this topic, but he knew there would be a time where he might go too far. He wanted to know just how hard things were for her. “But only if you want to.”
Amber immediately sobered up, the sparkle in her eyes dimming significantly. She pulled away with a long sigh, turning her face away.
“Give— give me a moment,” she murmured, taking a few deep breaths as she ran her hand through her hand.
William bit down on his lip, knowing he asked a far too personal question. Seeing Amber like that… it was enough to send a spark of anger through him. “Take all the time you need,” he said softly. “We’re in no rush.”
Amber nodded slowly, her eyes closing. She wasn’t upset about the question, far from it, but it was a shock to go from making out to a serious topic like this in a matter of second.
“It was partially self-inflicted,” she murmured, turning back to him halfway.
“Go on,” William reached out for her hand, squeezing it gently, silently telling her he wasn’t going to judge.
At his touch, Amber melted slightly. She moved so that she was leaning into his chest with her side.
“I… slept with a lot of guys in high school,” she murmured. “I’d be with one guy for about a week before moving on to another… Until one guy. He was different, I though. I thought he liked me as much as I liked him… But he didn’t. He dumped me as soon as he decided he’d had enough, like I was nothing more than something he could use and dispose of.”
At first, William went rigid before his free hand clenched into a fist. He had dumped her. Amber. The world’s best woman, and he had left her like she was nothing but—
“He doesn’t know what he let go,” William snarled, turning Amber around so he was fully facing him. “But you know what? Sucks to be him, because you’re mine now. He had a real gem and he discarded her, but I found you and I’m never going to treat you like that.”
Amber closed her eyes again, leaning into him. “Thank you, Will… I— Thank you…” she sighed, wrapping her arms around him.
Williwm wrapped his own around her, pressing her against his front. He kissed the top of her head in affection. “I will l—care for you no matter what. Never doubt that.”
Amber blinked at his stutter but decided to think nothing of it and nodded instead of saying anything. “Thank you, Will… That means a lot,” she murmured.
William sighed in relief when she didn’t point out his stutter. He almost said it out loud. Thankfully he hadn’t, and she didn’t say anything. “What do you want to do?”
Amber smiled a little and pulled back to smile up at him, slightly sheepishly. “Would it be bad to say I still kind of want to kiss you?”
“Then do it,” William grinned wicked. “What are you waiting for?”
The smirk that had previously been on Amber’s lips reappeared. “Hm… Should I, though? Or should I just…” she trailed off, reaching up to whisper in his ear, “…leave you here?”
William growled and squeezed her shoulders, a shudder running through him. “You’re the one who wants to kiss me, Blue.”
“True. But does that mean you don’t want to kiss me?” Amber questioned in a low murmur. “Because if so, I may as well just walk away.”
“No,” William hissed, tightening his hold on her. “You’re not going anywhere.”
Amber nuzzled his cheek, letting her breath go down his neck before she pulled away. “And what, exactly, would you do if I did?”
William took a deep breath to calm his nerves, but she didn’t make it easy when she breathed down on his neck. “You leave and I won’t kiss you, even if you tell me to.”
Amber tilted her head as she looked up at him, biting her lip softly. “Mm… Would you?”
William’s eyes went to her lips, hand reaching out to touch her mouth. “Yes,” he answered in a raspy voice. “You don’t know how stubborn I am, Blue.”
“Have you had enough teasing?” Amber breathed, taking a step closer to him. At this point, there was barely any space between them. Maybe a piece of paper could fit, but it wasn’t very likely.
William dipped his head down, mouth barely touching hers. His eyes were half closed as he looked at his girlfriend. “Maybe…” he murmured. “Maybe not.”
“What do you want, William?” Amber asked quietly, her breath fanning across his mouth.
“What you want,” William responded, eyes never leaving her inviting lips.
Amber’s tongue flicked out to wet her lips. Yeah… That’s why… It definitely wasn’t to tease her boyfriend. Not at all.
“Tell me,” she murmured.
A rumble escaped William’s throat when he saw the wet organ trail across her lips. She certainly took things to her advantage, didn’t she? Too bad for her that William wasn’t going to budge.
“You know…” William lowered his mouth to her ear. “If you want to wet your lips, you could always ask me. I’d be more than happy to oblige.”
“So I’ve heard… Care to make good on that promise,” Amber whispered, giving him another smirk.
He pressed a kiss down her ear, lips lingering on the skin, trying not to smirk.
“Maybe if you ask…” he murmured. “I’ll do it.”
