Amber stepped out of the car and walked over to William, linking her arm through his. "So where are you taking me, then?"
Amber stepped out of the car and walked over to William, linking her arm through his. "So where are you taking me, then?"
William linked their fingers together and began to walk inside, but instead of the table, he made his way towards the stairs. “I do hope you don’t mind stairs, Blue.”
“I do not mind them…” Amber hummed, her lips twisting into a curious smile as she followed him.
William ran a hand through his hair when they finally made it to the rooftop. The table was just as he had left it, but the candles were now lit. There was food on it, but it was covered. It was a bit chilly outside, but even if it snowed, it wouldn’t have mattered because of the umbrella. Yes, he was prepared. Call him cheesy but he wanted the night to be special for Amber. He thought this place would be the perfect spot for the small celebration. The view, the lights—it was a good spot, wasn’t it? Amber would surely like it.
And on the wall, near the table, was a guitar case—his birthday present for his girlfriend.
“Happy birthday, Blue,” William said softly just as they stopped, turning around to face her.
Amber looked around, wide-eyed and open-mouthed. She looked at William, then back to the space he had set up.
"Will… Oh my gosh, this is amazing," she breathed, turning her attention back to her boyfriend again. "Thank you."
“I take it you like it,” William sounded pleased. He felt pleased. Her reaction to it made him feel satisfied. “I’m glad. I hope this makes up for my being away the entire day.”
"Definitely. I love it, Will," Amber assured him softly, stepping closer to him to wrap her arms around his waist in a tight hug. Her eyes caught sight of the case as she did so, and she looked up at him curiously. "Did I see a guitar case over there?"
William hugged her back, breathing a sigh of relief. Good. She liked it—liked what he had done for her. When she mentioned the guitar case, he smirked. “What do you think, Blue? Is that a guitar case?”
“William, you didn’t have to do that,” Amber said, though she was grinning as she looked between him and the gift. “Thank you.”
William set his hands on her waist, looking down at her. He tilted his head to the side, looking at her intently. “No, I didn’t have to do it,” he agreed, nodding. “But I wanted to, anyway. And you, Blue, don’t need to thank me for something I wanted to do.”
Amber stretched up onto her tiptoes to press their lips together for a moment. She pulled back and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug once more. “Well, I want to thank you, so I will.”
William frowned, playfully scrunching his nose. “That’s all I get?” He furrowed his eyebrows, seemingly offended. “If you want to thank me, Blue, do it properly.” He bent down a little, showing her what he meant even though he knew she didn’t need to be shown.
“Of course, hun,” Amber chuckled a little before moving her arms to wrap around his neck. She reconnected their lips, pulling him down slightly as she kissed him.
William immediately kissed her back, pulling her closer and bending down a little more. He kissed her tenderly, taking what he missed all day.
“Mmm, this is exactly what I wanted right now…” William murmured against her mouth, warmth flooding through him despite the cold.
“Oh, is it?” Amber murmured back, pulling away slightly to tease him. “Have you been thinking about this all day, then?”
William pressed their lips together again just as she pulled back, knowing she was only trying to tease him. “You know I have,” he said quietly, reaching up to cup her cheeks to kiss her better, softer.
Amber sighed against his lips, finally giving in and kissing him back fully. “Good… Means I’m doing a good job as your girlfriend…” she mumbled.
William merely grunted in reply, focusing all his attention on kissing her. He focused on her mouth moving against his, her lips against his, sweetness exploding in his mouth. How much he loved this.
Finally, when he had his fill (for now), he pulled away and rested his forehead against hers. “We should probably cut your cake before it melts, hm?”
Amber let out a slow breath before opening her eyes and looking up into his. She gave him a small smile and gently pecked his lips again before pulling away.
“You got me a cake, too? Babe…” she sighed, shaking her head with a wide smile. “You’re the best. You know that, right?”
William pecked her on the nose, chuckling, hands still cradling her face. “Of course I did,” he snorted. “And of course I know that. I’ve got you to remind me every day, too.”
“And I will do so every day,” Amber promised with a grin, reaching up to take his hands cupping her cheeks. “C’mon, then. Cake.”
“Yeah,” William breathed out. “Oh, before I forget… you look absolutely beautiful today, Blue. Now come, let’s cut your cake.”
Amber shook her head with a small smile, ignoring the blush on her cheeks. “Thank you, babe. You look nice, too.”
William merely smirked, pulling Amber along to have her sit down. He uncovered one of the foods on the table, revealing the cake.
“We would light it up, but the wind is merciless,” he winced, pointed to the candles on the table that were blown out. “So you’ll just have to make do without candles.”
Amber shrugged at grinned up at him as she sat down. “That’s okay. We can still pretend that they’re lit. I’ll blow out my invisible candles and make a wish if you want to light them,” she half joked with a chuckle.
“We can try to light them up if you want to,” William merely shrugged. “But we should make the decision soon. I got you an ice cream cake.”
“I can see that. It looks great, hun. But I was joking about lighting them,” Amber chuckled. “Do you want to cut it or should I?”
“You should cut it,” William said as if it was obvious. “But just so you know, I’m not singing the happy birthday song. Even if you look at me with your irresistible face.”
Amber pouted playfully before her lips broke into a wide grin. “I actually hate that song, so that’s perfect. Where’s the knife?”
“Thank heavens to that…” William muttered under his breath before he handed Amber a knife. “You may now begin the satanic ritual.”
