Amber stumbled her way to her room. When she was finally inside and the door was shut behind her, she stumbled and fell on her butt. With a yawn, she laid down and stretched out right there, not caring that she was laying on the floor. To her, it was good enough. Maybe she would even sleep there for the rest of the night…
When Amber didn’t come out again, William furrowed his eyebrows. What was she doing? He walked over and slowly knocked on the door.
“Blue? Did you hit your head or something?” He questioned, trying not to laugh at his own question. “Don’t tell me you’re asleep on the floor again.”
"Not 'sleep yet," Amber murmured with another yawn, curling up as she closed her eyes. "Lemme sleep…"
William chuckled, shaking his head. He could even imagine her curling up as she said that. “Okay, then. I’ll see you in the morning?”
Amber hummed and cracked an eye open, suddenly remembering something. "You said you would stay with me…"
“You’re in your room,” William answered, quirking an eyebrow as if she could see him. “I told you to come out after you changed, but you just want the floor.”
"Mm… But you promised," Amber mumbled sleepily.
“Then what do you want me to do?” William leaned against the door.
Amber groaned a little and curled into a tighter ball. "C'mere… I'm cold, too…"
“Come into your room?” William repeated, blinking. And was she suggestive he sleep with her?
"I'm cold and tired and my head is starting to hurt…" Amber muttered. "Either come here or take me out."
“Okay, I’m coming,” William sighed, opening the door. He almost nearly hit Amber and barely held himself back as he groaned. “I knew you were on the floor. You could have seriously just passed out on the bed.”
Amber hummed and reached her arms up to him. "It was too far…"
William bent down to take her into his arms, hefting her up gently.
“You’re such an idiot,” he muttered. “You didn’t even bother changing. How much did you drink?”
"Can't 'member… And the dress was too hard—" Amber yawned, stretching a little before going limp and letting him take all of her weight. "—too hard to get off.
William carefully set her on the bed, her head on the pillow before he cocked his own to the side. She looked pretty despite being wasted. She’d exposed herself again, and William just didn’t know what to do with her.
He reached out to push her hair away from her face. Since when had he begun acting like around her? Sure, they’d kissed… a lot, and he was still recovering from letting go of his teenage crush, but he was still baffled by his sudden change in behavior. He sighed, shaking his head.
“Sleep well, Blue,” he murmured, pulling the blanket over her. He knew Amber would dislike it if she woke up and found out she’d asked him to sleep with her. Though if he didn’t… the drunk girl would start crying probably.
Amber yawned, her eyes closing as she snuggled into the covers. She buried herself in the bed and cracked an eye open slightly to look at a blurry William, reaching a hand out for him.
"Stay?" she murmured, her eyes slowly falling shut again, as if on their own accord.
William’s eyes shot to her hand, gently taking it in his own. Her soft voice reached his ears and William couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
“Okay,” he breathed out. “I’ll stay.”
Amber hummed and opened her arms for him to join her, muttering a half-asleep, "Good…"
Biting down on his lip, William climbed into bed, wrapping his arms around his dormmate and pulling her close to him. He hoped she couldn’t feel just how nervous he truly was, or the way his heart was beating wildly in his chest. What was she doing, trusting him blindly like this? Better yet, what was he doing?
"G'night, Will," Amber slurred as she curled up in his arms, using the first nickname she ever had for him.
William tensed at the nickname she used, but soon relaxed as she curled up against him. This girl…
“Sleep well, Blue…” he murmured, tightening his hold on her.
This was not going to end pretty…
Amber stirred slightly in her sleep, groaning a little. It was suddenly rather warm, but she didn't want to remove her blankets for fear of it being too cold. She shifted again, tensing when she felt something both familiar and unfamiliar around her.
Who was sleeping with her? Whose arms was she wrapped in? It had been a long time since she'd slept with a guy, but she knew the difference between passing out with a girl friend and falling asleep with a man. And this was definitely the latter.
She blinked her eyes open and slowly turned her head, groaning slightly when she saw the face behind her. She'd slept with William? Really? Gosh, she couldn't belie—
But, wait… She was still wearing her dress. She was fully clothed… Which meant that nothing had actually happened. They'd literally just fallen asleep together…
Ugh, but she was sleeping with William! The fact of that hit her, and she quickly pulled out of his arms to stand. What in the world?
William sighed heavily when he felt the lack of warmth, as well as the abrupt movement. He shifted, cracking an open to find an empty spot next to him.
For a few seconds, William was confused. Where in the world was he? This wasn’t his room. Then he remembered. He had put drunk Amber on her bed and she wanted him to stay. He fell asleep with her in his arms. Finally, he found Amber standing, looking at him with confusion. He groaned.
“Good morning, sunshine,” he muttered in a raspy voice, pulling himself up, trying to blink sleep away.
Oh, gosh… Not the morning voice. The stupid raspy morning voice was her weakness. It drove her crazy.
Amber closed her eyes and sighed, running a hand through her hair. Her fingers found her throbbing temples and pressed on them. Her head already hurt like heck…
"I don't remember anything hat happened last night after I got home. Tell me why you're in my bed," she whispered, knowing that it would just hurt to speak any louder.
William quirked an eyebrow. She didn’t remember anything? Now that would be fun…
“You were crying yesterday,” he replied, though that wasn’t a lie. He stuffed his hands into his pockets, fighting the urge to run his fingers through her hair. “You… wanted to sleep with me. Said you hated everything and that I was the only good thing in your life.”
Amber slowly opened her eyes to look at him, though they stayed narrowed. "Sleep with you? Did I say that? Please tell me I didn't want to actually sleep with you…"
William inwardly flinched, though his expression didn’t waver. Was the idea of sleeping with him that terrible?
“No, you didn’t,” he replied, his voice low, and shook his head. “I promised you I’d stay with you if you wanted, but you curled up on the floor and wouldn’t move. I carried you to your bed and you asked me to stay. Other than that, nothing happened.”
"Good…" Amber sighed, running her hand through her hair again.
She couldn't do that again, especially not with William. Even if they didn't have any romantic feelings for each other, that didn't mean it would be okay for her to have another one night stand… She'd been clean of that since she started college, and she didn't want to break that record.
William sighed. Of course she was going to react this way. The had no romantic feelings for one another, so why wouldn’t she feel relieved? Why couldn’t she remember last night?
“I’m going to the bathroom,” William muttered, removing his eyes from Amber’s. “And then we’ll talk.”
