Jay ended up falling asleep on the floor of the room. Silent the whole time.
Kale didn't realise they had fallen asleep until they felt someone shake their shoulder. They opened their eyes, immediately blinded by sunlight. When everything came into focus they saw the woman who dropped them off. Apparently it was time for breakfast and Kale had to wash and get dressed. Kale silently complied, knocking on the room Jay was in after they were dressed.
"Jay? Are you awake?"
Jay woke up and stood up. He stayed near the walls feeling his way towards the door. He soon enough opened it up.
"Steady there." Kale jumped as Jay opened the door. "Apparently we need to go down for breakfast."
"I have no idea where that would be. Or how exactly to get there." Jay said.
"I'm just going to follow the smell." Kale paused. "If it's easier you can hold onto me, or we can go really slowly so you can find your bearings."
"we could go a normal speed. I'll just take your arm." Jay said then took Kale's arm.
I'm still here just… nothing is happening with Jordan)
(should they get him out of the hospital?)
(It could prove to be interesting, considering the risks)
Kale nodded and started walking, a little slower than their normal pace but still fairly brisk. They came to the stairs halfway down the hallway. "There's a banister to the right." They told Jay.
(Wait what's happening now?)
(Jay and Kale have been taken to a care home place in the city)
"alright." He replied and reached and took the railing.
Kale made their way downstairs, looking around for any shadows on the floor. "If we go straight ahead there is a room on the left where people and food seem to be."
"alright." Jay said and let go of his arm and put a hand on the wall. Walking cautiously so he knew that he wouldn't fall.
(Ok)
Kale's eyes softened as they watched Jay, they couldn't even begin to imagine how hard it must be for him. The two of them reached the room to find other children, some older and some younger, already sitting down with their food. And it could actually be called food. The woman politely told them to sit down and placed a plate in front of each of them. "Omelette? For real?" Kale asked out loud, quickly covering their mouth in embarrassment when they realised some of the other kids were staring. Without another word they started eating, forcing themselves not to inhale the entire thing whole.
Jay laughed quietly at Kale's reaction then started to eat the food. It was better than anything he had eaten before. though everything he has ever eaten could give him food poisoning and was crap.
Kale's entire face was bright red and their hands were shaking, and from a couple of whispers it was obvious that someone had noticed. Without even looking, Kale knew it was the boy they had been placed with the previous night. They ate in silence, waiting for someone to tell them to go back to their room like the houseparents at Lone Pines would have done. It was interesting hearing some of the other conversations, though they were mostly about the 'strange new kids' and rumors as to why they were there. Kale said nothing.
Jay kept quiet as he listened to all the conversations. He could hear many of them perfectly. Some of the theories of why they where there were interesting. But none were correct.
Kale noticed that the other two girls who had come with them were also silent, and almost felt sorry for them. They made eye contact, and Kale flashed a sympathetic smile before going back to the food. When they were done, the woman and the man came into the room with trays of steaming cups. From the pale brownness and the distinct smell of nothing, Kale recognised it to be tea. They whispered to Jay, discreetly moving his hand to the handle of the cup in front of him. "Make sure you blow it, and sip."
"Yeah, it feels hot." Jay said as he put his hands on the cup. slowly he started to drink the tea.
Kale refused to touch the tea, something about the sight of it reminded them of the water at Lone Pines. The man (I really need to give him a name) explained to Kale, Jay, and the two girls, that he would have all the rooms sorted out by noon, and that they needed to fill out a bit of paperwork. Kale said nothing in return.
Jay only nodded. Soon the guy asked one of the girls to go with one of the workers. they were all to go and talk to the person one at a time. Just to be asked stuff about their experiences.
Kale turned to Jay, facing the wall behind them as they whispered so no one else could see Kale's face. "Are you comfortable talking with them?"
"I guess. But I'll be fine." Jay said to him. "Will you be alright?"
"Hey don't worry about me, I don't have to tell them anything I don't want them to know after all." A sly grin appeared on Kale's face.
"Yeah. Are you sure you will be alright?" Jay asked unsure.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Kale frowned, curious as to why Jay asked the same thing twice.
Jay just nodded then he waited. He stayed silent.
