"Sleep is a fleeting luxury, i think this is as best as he's ever slept."
"Sleep is a fleeting luxury, i think this is as best as he's ever slept."
"yeah I have to agree with you."
"Ive been thinking, as I do. The hospital can't force Jordan to stay if he is determined to leave. But do you think he would want to? And would this new care home be able to take him in when they've just taken in four others?"
"let's just wait for him to wake up."
Kale nodded and everything went quiet, apart from the beeping of the heart monitor.
"You guys are so loud…" he mutters to the wall. He shifts, pressing a different pillow over his face and ears
"I see the bullet didn't improve your mood." Kale sighed, chuckling. "Didn't know what i expected after we walked an hour to get here, but i dont think seeing you any other way would have been the same."
Jordan makes a face without opening his eyes, "What~? That made no sense."
"When have I ever said anything that made sense?" Kale shrugged. "I'm glad you're alright."
Jordan smiles, with his eyes still closed, "And how are you guys holding up? Jay?"
"Fine, and I'm good." Jay replied.
"We've come to get you, well, when you're ready at least."
"Get me?"
"Get you from the hospital i guess."
"And go where?" He opens his eyes and props himself up on his elbows
"We've been moved to a new care home, they have great food, warm rooms, and even a large back garden the kids can play in! Not that i trust it…" Kale's mind went back to the boy in the window and ended up squeezing Jay's hand reflexively.
Jordan purses his lips, "I see you two are together now. About time. Jeez." He smirks, crossing his arms
"I don't know what you're talking about, friends hold hands all the time i'll have you know!" Kale had an expressionless face despite the panic they felt inside.
"What? We aren't together. Kale was just holding my hand to help guide me here." Jay responded.
"Why would we be together? What a bizarre thing to say." Kale started laughing, quickly regaining their composure. "So how are you feeling Jordan?"
Jay nodded then took his hand away from Kales.
Jordan raises a brow but shrugs, "I'm fine. Sort of."
Kale slowly tucked their hands into their pockets, biting the inside of their cheek. "How long do you want to stay in hospital?"
"How am I supposed to know?" Jordan could tell something had happened when he had asked about them together but he decided not to say anything
"Well you can basically leave whenever you want, even without an official discharge, but I don't think you should be moving for another couple of weeks…" Kale sighed, making themselves comfy in the armchair beside the bed.
Jay leaned against a wall and listened to them talk.
"Weeks… They legally discharge me in a day."
"Really?? No way will your leg be well enough to be moving then! Do they not know how long it takes for a bullet wound to actually heal???"
"they are freaking doctors. It isn't like they can keep him for too long. He probably will be on crutches."
"Yeah." He points to the opposite wall where a pair of crutches was leaning on it.
