"Do you think you can find your way back? I need to check something before heading back."
"Do you think you can find your way back? I need to check something before heading back."
"yeah I think I probably can." Jay said then slowly found his way out and waited at the entrance.
When Jay was safe inside the tunnel, Kale stared at every corner of the ceiling. "No cameras." They hadn't found any evidence that anyone was monitoring the basement. They noticed a door upon arrival but thought nothing of it, until they turned the handle and it opened. Slowly, with held breath, Kale closed the door again and crept back into the vent, making sure it was properly closed. They clamped their eyes shut and quickly but quietly crawled back through the tunnel. They reached the end and slid the wooden panel back over the opening. "Let's go."
They crept into Jordan's room to find him asleep on his bed. "Oi, wake up."
Jay was next to Kale as they stood there.
They gently nudged Jordan, sighing. "Come on, wake up… Ah well, it's his loss I guess. Jay, why don't we just leave him behind?"
(Phone was glitching.)
Jordan snorts, opening his eyes. His mind quickly zoomed into over drive as he saw the cloudy blobs in front of him. He gasped loudly, sitting up so fast he hit his head on the underside of the bunk above
(Don't worry it's fine)
"Not a calm riser huh…" Kale cleared their throat. "We found something that might be worth your time."
Jordan rubs his forehead with a hiss, "What?"
"A window, and an open one at that." Their voice was hushed to prevent any potential eavesdroppers from hearing.
"A window?" Jordan stands and starts pacing around the room, "Where?"
"The basement, there's a window that leads to the outside, around the back. Though it looked like a trap to me."
"Well of coarse it is a trap. These people aren't stupid." Jordan sighs, pausing and running a hand through his hair exasperatedly.
"That was exactly my thinking!" They smiled softly, sitting on Jordan's bed, watching him pace. "Although I scoured the area and there were no cameras or anything, the only thing that made me a little suspicious was that the door was unlocked."
"There is definitely something wrong there then… There has to be." He sighs again, scratching the back of his head
"Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks that. I just thought that if you knew then you might be able to make a judgement as to whether it would be safe using the window or not." They shrugged. "Y'know, since you've tried like 67 times I figured you'd be kind of a professional I don't know."
"Professional?" Jordan was slightly taken a back at that. He shrugs, "No cameras and an already open window. Something is really not right about that."
I know right, like why would that scenario exist when, for all this time, they never wanted us going outside?" They paused for a moment. "You know, I think I may have made the wrong judgement about you."
"Excuse me?" Jordan looks up at him, brow raised.
Kale huffed, crossing their arms. "Nothing."
Jordan looks very confused, "What was your first impression? A weirdo? I agree with that then."
"Not exactly no." They mumbled, tugging at the ends of their hair. "My first impression was that you were someone who just wanted to be left alone, and so I did do for a good 12 years. But now I'm thinking that you didn't actually want to be alone, but I could be wrong on that too."
Jordan stares at him, still confused. To say the least he had no idea how to respond to that, "Uh. Ok?" How do I human?
"I don't express these things often you know." Kale grumbled, running their hands through their hair, pushing it out of their face. "Anyway… What do you think about the window situation?"
"I'm- I'm not sure." Jordan shakes his head, trying to clear it, "Maybe we should try like a diversion to test it. Or something because anything like that I do not trust in the slightest."
"What sort of diversion do you have in mind?" They raised one eyebrow, slightly intrigued. "Like a fight, that would take up the most attention."
"No. If it a trap. We have to test it." Jordan rubs the bump on his forehead
"So sending one person down there, on their own?"
"Exactly." Jordan takes a deep breath, "And I volunteer as tribute." He raises his three fingers. he smiles slightly at the reference but immediately his muscles started to hurt from not ever doing that in his life
They gave a very disapproving look. "Did you just- Never mind. I mean if you're willing to go then far be it from me to stop you. You know how to get there?"
