Ace watched as the teacher walks in. Her Auburn hair was braided nearly over her shoulder, her grey eyes piercing and strict. She was dressed nicely, her glasses glinting. Not many would guess Ace and their teacher, Miss Moon would be cousins. She glances at the class, setting down her folders. "Good morning class."
"Good morning Miss Moon." Becca and Jessie accidentally said in unison. They glanced at each other and laughed.
Miss Moon glances at them. She offers a faint smile before looking at the class. "Alright. Get out your notebooks. We're heading straight into our new lessons today, so be prepared to listen."
Becca untied the black ribbon off her wrist and tied it in her hair like a headband as she pulled out her pencil and notebook. First day wasn't so bad so far.
As the lesson went on, Ace proved to be a rather enthusiastic student. He explained his opinion on world matters, how to help the school have a better environment, etcetera.
Jessie and Becca kept whispering to each other about Ace, much to Miss Moon's disapproval. But Becca was a good student, always being able to answer the questions the teacher asked her easily. She'd learned all this stuff at her old school.
Miss Moon finally places her folder on the desk. "Alright. Five minute break." Ace stayed in his seat, working on his worksheet, chewing on a new piece of gum since his other one had gone stale.
Jessie dragged Becca out to the hallway. "Okay. Tell. Me. Everything." "I already told you! He came up and started talking to me, I ignored him, he was persistent and introduced himself, I ignored him, and he walked away." "Yeah but what's his name??" "Ace." "WHAT?!" "Jessie! Shh! You're talking to me, not China!" "Becca don't you get it?! Ace is one of the best known gang leaders on this side of town!" "…well shit." "Yeah. Well shit indeed."
Ace finishes his work and hands it to Miss Moon or as he knows her, Aika. "You coming over this weekend, cous?" He asked curiously. She shakes her head. "No. To much grading. Off the desk please." He nods and hops off the desk. She looks at her watch, "Two minutes." She mutters. He shrugs before going back to his desk and scrolling through his phone, looking rather bored.
"I can't…how??" "How what?" "How did you get him to talk to you?" "Oh no no no. He started talking to me." "That's even harder to do!" "What the hell are you talking about?" "Becca, Ace only talks to girls he's interested in." "Excuse me?!" "Exactly!"
"I'm gonna go fet a drink." He stands and walks out to the halls. He salutes at Becca and Jessie, nodding to his groupies before getting a drink from the fountain ans going back into class.
"Oh my God, you're going to talk to him. Now." "Wait, Jessie wha-?!" Jessie dragged her back into class and shoved her in front of Ace before bounding away. "You'll thank me later!"
Ace looks up. "Ladies. Hey there Becca." He smiles at her, brushing some hair from his face, revealing his teal green eyes. "May I help you?"
God he's kinda cute… She shook her head. He's a gang leader! I shouldn't think he's cute! She replaced her mask and rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "No. I'm just entertaining Jessie. Not like I have much of a choice." She scoffed.
Ace smiles. It was a teasing but interested smile. "Oh. Jessie, huh?" He chuckles as he leans back and just crossed his arms casually over his chest. "Why so defensive?" He raises a brow and smiles genuinely.
"Because you're a gang leader. Just a no good troublemaker." She spat. She could practically see the scowl on Jessie's face as she watched Becca go through the conversation.
Ace clicks his tongue. "Ah. Sterotyping huh? How fun." He chuckles and shakes his head. "So kind of you."
"Not like I have any evidence that you're anything otherwise." She rolled her eyes. "Right, I don't need to stand here. I'm out." She turned and strolled off, refusing to acknowledge the beating of her heart that sped up everytime he looked at her.
Ace watches her go with a raised brow. She's brilliant. He was glad for a challenge. He smirks before looking at Miss Moon who was trying to get the class in order.
She slid into her seat as the class quieted down for the remainder of the lesson. Jessie slipped her a note. 'What the hell was that?!' She rolled her eyes. 'Me being me.' She slid it back inconspicuously. Jessie sighed quietly.
After school Ace stood and handed his paper in before shoulder his back. "Seen you later cous." He salutes towards Jessie and Becca before walking past them and meeting up with his gang.
"The girls are gonna freak!" Jessie squealed as she dragged Becca out of the school. "Woah woah woah! Jessie hang on!" Her friend paused. "Hmm?" "The girls can't know. Do you know what they'll do?" Jessie sighed. "Yeah you're right. Sorry. Listen, I've got to go. I'll text you later!" "See ya Jess!" Jessie ran off and Becca headed in the opposite direction, walking for a while before running into someone. "What the-?!" Then she recognized the person. Ace.
Ace was talking with Maxwell. Other gangs had been causing trouble and there was going to be a throw down tonight. He had to go. He was the head of the gang. He starts when someone bumps into him. "Hello there, Becca. Surprised to see you wandering around here. Lost?"
She rolled her eyes, this mask was not coming off. "You wish. I'm just taking a shortcut home."
"Mhm. I wouldn't recommend walking through this way. A sweet thing like you might get gobbled up by another one of the gangs around here. Best take-" "Oi! Ace. We have trouble. Skull and his group." Echo pants, making it to them. She pants. "Worse thing is, they have guns." Ace swears under his breath. "Maxwell. Get her home." He nudges his head at Becca." Under his shirt a gun glinted as he grabbed it.
"I don't need your help. Just leave me alone." She scoffed and continued walking. "Besides, I know these streets pretty well. I've walked this route 10,000 times." She tied her hair up, readjusted her bag, and took off, turning corners and down alleys like an expert.
A gunshot tore through the air. Ace growled lowly. He could see Skull from here. "Bold of you to come into my territory with guns." He growls. "Uh huh. I want a brawl. No weapons. Just me and you, Ace." Skull growls. Ace smirks. "Gladly."
She tore up the porch stairs and into her house. She wore a bright smile that quickly faded when she heard nothing. Her reality returned to her. Her sister was probably out with her boyfriend, her dad out with her bitchmom, I mean stepmom, which meant she was home alone. Like usual. She sighed heavily and trudged up to her room.
Ace shrugs. "Can we get this over with?" With that they started. It was a evenly matched battle. Ace was faster though. Covered in blood, his own or Skulls he didn't know, pain spurting through his body, he stood there in front of Skull, who collapsed. "Give up." He growls. Skull shakes his head, growling lowly. Ace wasn't fast enough. There was a bang and pain shot through his side. He drops to his knees, but Skull was already being handled. He'd be thrown out of his gang and lost all authority since he broke the rules.
