She sat at her desk and looked at the three picture frames on it. One was her original family, her parents and two sisters with her baby brother. Another was her dad's new family after her parents divorced. He'd taken her and her oldest sister Kelsie, gotten remarried, and had two boys. Twins, Jack and Tyler. The last one was her mom's new family. She'd taken her other sister Carly and her brother Max. She'd also gotten remarried and had another daughter, Nikki. She sighed, how had her life come to this?
Ace woke up on the ground and in pain. There were sirens, someone talking to him and then nothing. He woke up again, alone in the hospital. He was patched up, his mother waiting for him. He told the doctors he was fine, proved that he could walk… More like limp and he was released.
Becca walked back downstairs and out onto the porch. She stared out at the sunset silently.
Ace ignored his parents, going outside and staring at the sun as it began to go down for the moon, holding his side. He sighs quietly.
She sighed again and decided to take a walk to clear her head, just heading down the street.
Ace sat on his porch, sighing quietly as he stared at the sky. He heard footsteps, but ignored them, keeping his hand on his side and his beaten face to the ground.
Is that? It is! "Ace?" Becca called quietly. He looked rough, what had happened during that fight?
Ace looks up. "Well, well. If it isn't Miss Becca. Glad to see you made it home safely." He looks up and offers a weak smile. He stands, wincing slightly. He wasn't really wearing a shirt since it rubbed against the bandage around his waist.
She had noticed his shirt or lack thereof, and a light pink blush rose to her cheeks, hidden by the shadow that surrounded her. "What happened? Actually, don't answer that, you got into a fight I know that. But what happened afterwards?"
Ace shrugs. "Got shot, went to the hospital, came back." He raises a brow slightly. "What about you? Make it home safe?"
"As safe as a girl home alone can be." She shrugged too. Gunfights were normal in her life. She'd had her fair share of gunshot wounds herself although she never talked about it. Her life when her family was still together was something she guarded with her entire being.
"That's good." He offers one of his rather cute half smiles. He looks at the sky. "There's supposed to be a meteor shower tonight." He says casually.
"Yeah, I know. My sister and I were gonna go watch it but…plans fell through." She tried her best not to look disappointed. Disappointment in her life was also normal. Painfully normal. Kelsie had been obsessed with her boyfriend ever since they'd started dating. Becca and her eldest sister used to be as close as sisters could be but ever since Derick had come into her life, she'd been pushed aside and forgotten. Her stepmom hated her for reasons Becca couldn't fathom and her spineless father just followed her around like a lovesick puppy. Basically kissed the ground she walked on. Becca sighed. "It's whatever though. At least I'll have the house to myself tonight." For the third night in a row…
Ace glances at her. "You could join me, if you want. My mum and dad are leaving the house for the night, have to go catch a plane, my brother is going to the movies with a few of his buddies and my sisters are having sleepovers with their friends."
She rolled her eyes, replacing her mask. "Yeah, like I'd go with you. I'm fine. It's fine." I'm not fine… She pushed the thoughts away and looked down at her sneakers.
Ace watches her. "It's obviously not fine. But… If you ever need to talk, you're more than welcome to rant." He offers a half smile. Guess I'm alone tonight. Again. He runs a hand through his hair but winces, obvious pain running through him as he looks at his side.
She had no reason to trust him but she was in such a desperate need to talk to someone, it all started spilling out. "My parents divorced when I was 13. My original family was my parents and two sisters with my baby brother. My dad took me and my oldest sister, Kelsie, got remarried and had two boys. Twins, Jack and Tyler. Then there's my mom's new family. She'd taken my other sister Carly and my brother Max. She'd also gotten remarried and had another daughter, Nikki. Now I could deal with the divorce but it was the slow abandonment that hurt the most. Kelsie has been obsessed with her boyfriend ever since they'd started dating. We used to be as close as sisters could be but ever since Derick has come into her life, I've been pushed aside and forgotten. My stepmom hates me for reasons I can't fathom and my spineless father just follows her around like a lovesick puppy. Basically kisses the ground she walks on." Becca was softly panting for air by the end of her mini speech, tired and emotionally vulnerable.
Ace blinks a few time before slowly moving to where she was. He hesitates for a split second before gently hugging her. He understood the pain of abandonment. He went through it himself. His parents had never divorced, but there was threatening of it.
She dropped her head on his shoulder lightly, blinking back tears. I just want someone to want me again…
"I've got you." He says gently, holding her in a gentle but firm grip. His hand ran soothingly up and down her back, just holding her so that she felt safe.
She slowly wrapped her arms around him in return, her tears finally spilling over.
He let's her cry, not saying anything. If she wanted him to say something he would but otherwise he would let her cry and he would hold her.
"Why doesn't anyone want me anymore?" She mumbled softly.
"That's not true. Don't do that to yourself, Becca." He says gently, running a soothing hand through her hair.
She paused her tears, sniffling softly. "Rebecca."
Ace smiled softly. "Rebecca. That's a beautiful name." He says gently, his eyes were full of warmth as he pulled away to tenderly brush away her tears.
"You don't have to do this." She mumbled. "You don't even know me."
"No. I don't. But I want to." He says gently, smiling a little. His hands, warm and gentle pull her back into his safe grasp.
She smiled a little, tears still brimming at her eyes. She hadn't had someone actually care for her in so long.
He held her, running a gentle hand through her hair, his eyes soft as he held her. He had an urge to protect her. To keep her safe and happy. He didn't want to see her sad.
