Gus perked up, smiling greatly. “Oh yes thank you!! Thank you!!” He started toward the door, hurriedly trying to open it. He was going to stay in this hell hole with a psychopathic freak no longer

Deleted user

Vex sighs, knowing that this would have been Gus's choice anyways.

"Just… nevermind. I am sorry…" they whisper, knowing Gus can't hear them.

Deleted user

Gus dashed out the door, before realizing he has no idea where he was. Begrudgingly, he walked back inside, slipping past the door and back into the dark room.
“Could you… maybe drive me home?”

Deleted user

"I can do you one better. I can simply…" they say, clicking their fingers. Gus disappears and reappears in his own home.

Deleted user

Gus stumbled backwards, sighing with relief at the sight of his own room. "By god…" He mumbled softly, laying on his bed to recuperate from the past events. What did that person want from him anyways?? Why was he deliberately being sought after? And was he still a target. He locked the door to him room just in case.

Over the next few days, Vex wonders at his decision to release Gus. After all, he was a powerful super. Eventually, Vex decides to show up at Gus's market stall. They wait for Gus to show up.

Deleted user

Gus watched as Vex approached his stall again, and he cowered in fear.
"P-p-please, I can get you a discount!" Gus stuttered out, wanting anything but the hell he had been though again

Deleted user

Vex holds up their hands.

"I- I am not here to hurt you. I am not here to get anything from you. I…" they sigh, their voice trailing off.

"I wanted to apologize for what I did, what I tried to do. I realized that what I did was- rude. Malicious. I would like to make it up to you, but-" their sentence cuts off. Their eyes are strangely vulnerable.

Gus tilted his head, his helpful nature showing through as he stepped out from behind the car with sadness in his eyes. I was so mean! He thought absentmindedly, completely forgetting what Vex had done to him.
"It's okay! Please dont be sad, here!" He held out a cupcake, smiling eagerly. "You don't have to make it up to me, it was just an accident!"

Deleted user

Vex stumbles backwards slightly. "No- it was no accident…" they murmur, disappearing once more, leaving only the vague scent of blak pepper, mint and- strangely enough- cinnamon.

Deleted user

Gus coughed, stumbling backward as Vex disappeared once more. He sighed as he stared at the cupcake, wondering what that could have possibly been about.
"Vex!" He called, hopelessly, before shrugging and finishing setting up his cart.

Vex's heart, which they had not realized still beat, was pulsing unevenly against their ribs. They drew in a ragged, deep breath, but couldn't figure it out- What was wrong with them? Why did they apologize? And above all, why did they let Gus go?

They pondered these questions as they tried to focus on training their troops, but kept feeling something urging him back to the lightbearer.

Gus felt concerned for the magic wielder. And even though they had kidnapped him, his tender emotions convicned himself it was because he was troubled. Every day after his shift, he would search the market, the streets, glancing around every corner for the mysterious stranger who seemed very alone.

Vex, eventually incapable of staying away from the person that twisted them into knots, went to Gus's front door. It was night and raining heavily, and their clothes and hair were soaked, turning the black fabric darker and making their hair lighter, nearly true white, instead of darkening it. They hesitate. What am I going to say if he answers? they wonder, then they shake their head. I will figure that out, I suppose…

They reach out, tentatively, and knock on the front door, lightly.

Gus heard between the clammer of raindrops and the sounds of the city, a small knock. It wasn't famiiar to the kocking of his friends or family, but he answered anyway, carrying a tube of icing he was just using.
"Hello- Hi!" He said warmly to Vex. "Come in! How are you? Doing okay?

Deleted user

Vex pauses, startled by how quickly Gus made it to the door, evidently coming from the kitchen.

"Hello." they reply, giving Gus a warm smile. Not fake, but real, the one they have not used since… gods, since they were 5.

"I- I do not know how I feel, truth be told." they murmur, leaning down and giving Gus a light hug, then unlacing their boots, setting them by the door, taking off their jacket as well.

"Where is the bathroom? I need to be clean. I have spent far too long out in the thrice-blasted rain."

Deleted user

Gus blushed at the sentiment, closing and latching the door as he trailed after the taller person. He was very grateful Vex seemed to change, and seemed a bit more relaxed than before. He chuckled and pointed down the hall.

"Just that way! Take all the time you need." He smiled

Deleted user

Vex jods greatfully.

"Thank you…" they murmur, striding into the bathroom. Shortly after they close the bathroom door, the sound of running water could be heard. 5 minutes later, steam had started finding its way out of the bathroom. 10 minutes later, the shower stopped, and Vex stepped out of the bathroom, having evidently found clothes that at least kinda fit. The clothes they were wearing when they showed up were hung neatly over the shower curtain rod. Their hair was obviously washed, and still damp.

"I do not know exactly why I came back," they say bluntly. "However, here I am."

Gus sat and hummed, finishing the cake and putting on some tea. When Vex emerged after a long, and seeingly relaxing shower, he grinned, flushing at the sight of the person in his clothes.

"Oh… Uh.. well.." He stammered. "I'm glad you're here. I've kind of been looking everywhere…" He chuckled softly

Deleted user

Vex snorts, softly. They then notice Gus's flush and redden slightly themselves, looking down self consciously at his slim, but muscle corded, limbs, most of which were revealed by a pair of black basketball shorts and a short sleeved t-shirt.

They grin at Gus's stutter. "Surprisingly, I am glad I'm here as well. And I know you've been looking for me."

Deleted user

Gus tugged at the fabric of his sweater, admiring Vex's bulk, and then looking back at his own pudgy frame. He'd always wanted some stronger help in the shop… She shook his head slightly , clearing the thought.

"Oh… you have?" He said as his blush became a deeper color. "Well, Are you hungry?"

Deleted user

Vex nods. "I have."

They grin at Gus's redder blush. "Yes, I am."

They pause in the door into the kitchen, then look back. "My name is Saul."

They then go into the kitchen, and keel on the floor in front of the table, moving a chair to the side to do so.

Deleted user

Gus tilted his head, following after Vex with slight confusion.
"Saul, huh? Thats a nice name." He added with a smile, brining the cake over ans sitting at the table, his short stature nothing compared to Vex's
"My full name is Augustus, but it seems kind of long for people to say." He chuckled, staring oddly at the way Vex sat

Deleted user

Vex knows they're confusing the hell out of Gus, and chuckles softly at the idea.

"Thank you. My parents…" they say, but at the thought of their parents, they fall silent, drifting into their memories. They only snap back to reality when Gus starts speaking again.

"Augustus…" they murmur, trying out the name, seeing how it felt. They notice Gus staring at the way they sat, and chuckles.

"I only sit like this because if I were to sit in one of these chairs, I wouldn't fit at the table." they say, a pie server appearing in their hands. They also conjure a couple plates, then slice two pieces off the cake, setting one in front of Gus and the other in front of themself. They take a bite, and a dreamy look slowly spreads across their face.

Deleted user

Gus looked over at the mention of their parents, but once it dropped, he decided to leave it be.

He blushed again at the mention of his name, absentmindedly eating the cake.
"you are very tall." He chuckled, then stared in awe at the conjuring, his expression growing brighter once he saw the look on their face.

"Is it good?" he asked nervously
