"I know you did, but you also said it hurts to think about him. I don't want you to talk about it, if it hurts." Melissa insisted, her face ridden with concern.
"I know you did, but you also said it hurts to think about him. I don't want you to talk about it, if it hurts." Melissa insisted, her face ridden with concern.
"I'll be alright, Mel." Lucas smiled weakly as he looked over at Melissa. "I want to answer any questions you have."
“Well, right now I don’t have anything else.” Melissa told him softly, kissing his cheek. “What you’ve told me is plenty.”
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright… if you think of anything, let me know, alright? I want to tell you anything you don't know."
"I will. If anything comes to mind, I'll ask you." Melissa replied softly, resting her head against his shoulder. "I'm good for now."
"Alrighty." Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek gently. "I don't think the Halloween store is far from here…"
"Mm, yeah. I'm pretty sure it's right up there." Melissa hummed with a smile. "Somewhere in the shopping center, with the food court."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright…" He looked around until he found the store and led Melissa inside. "Here we are, Mel."
Melissa smiled lightly, pulling back as he started to lead him on through the store. "Costumes are probably in the back." She stated, pulling him along.
Lucas looked around curiously as Melissa led him through the store. "Yeah, probably." He hummed softly to himself.
Melissa stopped as she came to a specific section, smiling over to him. "Any suggestions for what we should look for?"
"Not really. You?" Lucas asked, looking up at all the costume pictures on the walls. Most of them seemed to be for children.
Melissa shook her head in response, starting to file through the racks of costumes. "Just… something appropriate. A lot of women's costumes are definitely not. So I've got that going for me."
"Yeah…" Lucas hummed thoughtfully as he walked around with Melissa. "Maybe I can just wear my uniform…"
"Mm, that's true. We really don't have to dress up at all, I just wanted to look while we were out." Melissa shrugged a little, giving him a smile as she looked.
"I guess so." Lucas laced his fingers with Melissa's as they walked around. "Do you see anything you like?" He asked.
"Mm, not really." Melissa shrugged a little, glancing back at him. "Then again, I have no idea what I even want. So that makes things difficult."
"Makes sense." Lucas laughed softly. "Got any vague ideas in mind?" He asked, looking over at Melissa.
Melissa paused to think, tipping her head to the side. "Maybe something with a dress… Greek goddess like?"
"Ooh, that would look nice on you. Do you think they have anything like that here?" Lucas asked. "Maybe I could be Zeus or something."
Melissa's face flushed a soft pink, as she looked back over to him with a little smile. "They probably do. I'm not sure how they have it set up, but I think it might be by decade… maybe? So they'd probably be further down."
"Mm. Maybe…" Lucas walked along the wall to look at the costume pictures, trying to find something interesting.
Melissa followed along after him, gently pushing aside the fabric to check around other ones. "Find anything?" She asked him, stopping to check through one of the racks.
"No, not yet… you?" Lucas asked, looking over at Melissa curiously. "Most of this stuff wouldn't fit us…"
"Mm, no. Nothing." Melissa shrugged a little, pulling back. "And yeah… we're both moderately small, but I doubt we could wear a children's costume."
"Mhmm. Maybe the adult costumes are further along? I'm worried that those would be too big, though…"
"That's what extra small is for." Melissa laughed lightly, taking his hand and leading him along. "And if necessary, I could always try and hem things to fit better."
"You know how sew?" Lucas asked curiously. "I can do some… I had to patch a lot of my own clothes. I don't think I did it very well, though."
"I mean, a little, yeah. I'm no expert or anything." Melissa shrugged a little, listening to his last comment. "And in all honesty, I never paid much attention to what you wore. I never thought you looked bad, though."
"Yeah… might have to show you the patches, then." Lucas laughed. "They weren't that great. I only know the very basics of sewing."
