Lucas huffed a bit. "That doesn't make me feel any better about it, Mel…"
Lucas huffed a bit. "That doesn't make me feel any better about it, Mel…"
"Oh relax. I've slept on the couch before, it's nothing new." Melissa told him, trying to give him a reassuring look.
"But this is your bed… you should be sleeping here, not on the couch…"
"But I'm not the one who got hit with a baseball." Melissa insisted, resting her head on his shoulder. "If I had come over to your house, and I was hurt, ignoring the fact that your father would never allow it, you'd be begging me to sleep on your bed. It only seems fit I do the same for you."
"Stop being right. But anyways, I would take your literally anywhere else. My bed isn't very comfortable. The springs dig into your back."
"I know you would, but saying the roles were reversed. This was your house, and your bed. I was the one who had the crappy life. You'd beg me to let you sleep on the couch." Melissa told him softly.
"Well, yeah. I know I'm being unreasonable, but I still don't like it sleeping on the couch." Lucas huffed and crossed his arms.
"Well, you're gonna have to get over it. It's either the couch, or me sleeping on the floor in here. Pick your poison." Melissa stated bluntly, keeping up a smile.
Lucas looked away, still sulking. "I'm not going to tell you to sleep on the couch, Mel. It makes me feel like even more of an asshole."
"Then tell me not to sleep on the floor. You'll feel better about yourself. Trust me, I tell myself that every time you go downstairs to sleep." Melissa told him, running her thumb over his knuckles.
Lucas sighed, struggling to meet Melissa's eyes. "I don't want you sleeping on the floor, Mel… even more so than I don't want you sleeping on the couch."
Melissa lifted her head, smiling up at him. "See, it doesn't sound bad at all." She hummed, gently pressing a soft kiss to his non-bruised cheek.
Lucas huffed and closed his eyes, unable to keep himself from relaxing a bit at the kiss. "But still…"
Sighing weakly, Melissa held herself up with her arm. "Lu, please don't worry about this. Unless you want us to sleep together, I'll sleep out on the couch."
"I'd be fine with that if your parents weren't around… your dad is chill and all, but I still don't think he'd be keen on us sleeping in the same bed…" Lucas sighed.
"You're probably right." Melissa said softly, tilting his chin to look up at her. "Honestly, I can wait to get to move in with you. Then none of this will be a problem."
Lucas nodded a bit and looked up at Melissa meekly. He was struggling to hold his own head up by now and he seemed to be pretty dizzy .
Gently running her thumb over his lip, her brow furrowed a bit. "I know the answer is no, but I mean besides getting hit in the face with a baseball. Are you alright?"
"Mm… yeah… room's kinda spinning though…" Lucas glanced around the room, looking to be rather disoriented.
Melissa pulled back and started to get off the bed. "I… I want to let you sleep… but I'm nervous on letting you do so."
"Yeah… I'll probably be fine. I mean, I'm fading and I don't know how much longer you'd reasonably be able to keep me up." Lucas lay his head back down and sighed.
Sighing softly, she nodded a little. "Well, I guess I'll let you sleep. While you do that, I think I'll shower." Melissa hummed, pulling the hair band out of her hair. Falling down over her shoulders, she ran her fingers through her long wavy mess and smiled over at him. "I'll come check on you in a bit."
"Mmkay…" Lucas huddled up on the bed and soon drifted off to sleep. He was very still while sleeping, and he seemed to be breathing fine.
Gathering some clothes, and everything else she had brought up, she walked out of her room once he was asleep. "He has just got to stop doing this."
Lucas sighed softly in his sleep and shifted to be more comfortable, but he was completely out already. He was definitely going to sleep in late since Melissa probably wasn't going to wake him.
(I'm assuming we'll want to skip?)
Melissa made her way down the stairs, putting both the ice cream and ice pack in the freezer. Dropping both spoons in the sink, she turned on her heel to head out. Seeing her father, she gave a soft smile before disappearing into the bathroom.
(Sure, unless I have Lucas fall down the stairs or something, which I'm totally down to do)
(I mean, I'll leave that up to you. I wouldn't want to hurt the poor baby more than he is already… but I'm also not in control of what you write next-)
(Lmao I do like hurting him. But I'll do that while Melissa is at school so that Melissa's dad ends up having to deal with him lol)
Lucas was still dead asleep the next morning when Melissa awoke for school. He was basically just collapsed on the bed, and there was no telling how much longer he'd sleep.
(Ahh, that won't be totally nerve wrecking for Lucas~)
Having to come upstairs to get ready, Melissa brought his backpack upstairs as well. Putting it at the end of her bed, she smiled softly at his sleeping figure. She quickly jotted out a note, keeping her nice handwriting. Once written, she set it on his backpack and got ready quickly. With her hair, and makeup done, she paused on her way out. Pressing a soft kiss to his forehead, she nodded before scooping her bag up and heading out.
