Edmund shook his head. He hadn't broke anything. At least he didn't think he hadn't broke anything. He simply shifted his weight and shrugged. "I do not believe I did… perhaps I can help fix them, perchance?" He smiled, then looked down at his torn blouse. "Id you do not mind me asking… may I, eh, borrow some newer clothing?
"I doubt you broke anything." Lumi yawned again and kept cooking. When Edmund asked for clothes, Lumi looked him up and down and then down at himself. "Uh… I mean… you're welcome to try. You're a lot bigger than me, though, so my stuff probably isn't going to fit you."
Edmund nodded slowly, shrugging a bit. "I thank thee. I shall do my best."
"Might be better off stealing stuff that would actually fit you, to be honest." Lumi shrugged, taking the eggs off the heat.
Edmund thought for a moment, then went back to the door, slipping on his boots and looking out the window. "I shall be back in a moment"
"Uh… okay." Lumi watched him with a confused expression, obviously not actually having expected him to take their advice. He shrugged and put the eggs on plates so he could eat while Edmund was gone.
Edmund returned much later, panting as he ran a hand through his hair, new blood caked on his arm. "I have returned…" He mumbled, slipping off his boots and gently placing the clothes on the bed. "Those big men were fast…"
Lumi had already finished his breakfast by now, of course, and was watching something on TV when Edmund returned. They looked Edmund up and down, a bit confused. "Uh… what exactly happened to you? Where did you get those? You weren't followed, were you?" He asked, looking out the window worriedly.
Edmund hugged his arms, looking outside.
"I was… im not anymore." He muttered, taking a collared sweater and corduroy jeans into the bathroom
"Uh…. okayyy…" Lumi replied slowly, still pretty confused. This guy is nuts… at least he seems like he's pretty devoted to me, for whatever reason. At least he found something that fits, I guess. They shrugged and turned back to the TV while they waited for Edmund to come back out.
Edmund took his time slipping the clothes on, grinning at how soft they felt on his pained skin. When he emerged, he started to wring his hands together again, staring intently at the TV. "wow…"
Lumi glanced up when they heard Edmund return. "Oh, uh… this is a TV. It's kinda like… going to a play to watch something fun, but it's in your house and it's electronic, and pre recorded." He explained awkwardly.
Edmund nodded slowly, still standing behind the couch as he stared blankly at the screen. "indeed…" He muttered
"You can sit down, you know. I'm not watching anything particularly exciting." Lumi shrugged and moved over a bit.
Edmund looked surprised, nodding slightly as he went to sit by Lumi. "O-of course." He cleared his throat, tapping his fingers against his leg as he tilted his head at the screen
Lumi yawned and turned down the volume a bit. "I'll have to go work in the afternoon, so you'll have to amuse yourself somehow for a while."
Edmund nodded again, keeping his eyes to the ground as he began to wring his hands again. "Ought I come with you? To learn how one must do the work?"
"Ah… my job is a little… unconventional. It might be better for you to stay here, at least for today, yeah?" Lumi smiled weakly and toyed with his hair a bit.
Edmund thought for a moment.
"Ut.. covet… shinol…" He said slowly, before turning to Lumi and shrugging. "Well, I do suppose I can do that."
"My job isn't exactly a normal job like what you would be doing." Lumi explained with a soft sigh. "You're welcome to try and find something productive to do while I'm gone."
Edmund nodded. "I see, what tis your job be? If it… ut-covet-shinol, perhaps you be a knight??" He said with slight enthusiasm.
"Oh yes of course, I shall busy myself with the tyding of your abode. Of course."
"Uh… no, I'm not a knight, but sure. If that helps you think about it, I guess." Lumi shrugged. "I don't care what you do while I'm gone as long as you don't like… burn the apartment down or something."
Edmund tilted his head. "I see… oh you do not have to worry about fire. Mum used to lash me for not being able to light one." He chuckled sadly, then sat back against the couch. "When dost you be getting home, then?"
"Uhhh… kinda late, I guess?" Lumi hummed thoughtfully. "Really depends on the time. Usually it's around nine or ten at night, though. You can check the clock to know what time it is." They gestured to the digital clock on the nearby table.
Edmund pressed his lips together, squinting at the clock as hard as he could to make sense of it. "My apologies… but I do not understand this…"
