"The door closes. Just turn the water off when you're done…" Lumi sighed again and closed the door behind them as they left. He finished up the dishes and flopped down on the couch.

Edmund sighed, turning on the water again and gasping when it hit his skin. He closed his eyes and laughed as it ran through his hair and the remnants of hardships before washed away.

He used one of the towels to dry off his hair, then threw his ragged clothes back on and opened the door to find Lumi laid across the couch.
"Grammarcy." he said plainly.

@Fraust

"Grammarcy…?" Lumi repeated, clearly confused. "I don't know what that means, but whatever… I guess you figured out the shower, anyway. Why don't you tell me a bit more about yourself? You talk really funny and you don't know what normal household appliances are, but even poor people are at least familiar with those things. What are some… ah… key events you're aware of? Like recent wars?"

Edmund thought for a moment, sitting down next to Lumi.
"Well ah, Events… mine favorite cow passed a week ago…" He sniffed, wiping his eyes. "But I brought her…" He stared in fear at Lumi before continuing. "Uh… flowers. Uhm… upon her grave."
He cleared his throat, rocking back and forth slightly
"The black death passed itself through the land uh… about fifty seasons past?" He nodded, then smiled. "That is all."

@Fraust

"Fifty seasons… fifty years? The black death happened fifty years ago for you?" Lumi asked, clearly very confused. "I don't know exactly what years it happened, but… that was like, the 1300's, wasn't it? It's 2022 now. That's like… hundreds of years ago. That's not possible. What are you playing at?"

Edmund raised an eyebrow, bringing his knees to his chest.
"I do not knowest what thou means? Wasn't this town ravaged by the sickness? How am I playing?" He asked, incredibly confused.

@Fraust

"I'm just asking if you're joking. There's no way you're nineteen and from the 1300's. It's been like… 700 years, or something. You should be long dead. It's not possible for you to be here." Lumi explained bluntly.

Edmund froze. “700… by lucifers beard.”
He pulled a bandage off his hand, exposing an inverted star branded into the back of his hand. It burned red and seared against his pale skin.
“Beshrew me!!” He exclaimed, pacing the room. “Oh beshrew me and the fuckery that I have done…”

@Fraust

"What the hell are you talking about?? What is that?!" Lumi exclaimed, getting to their feet as well. God, I just let some ancient Satanist or something into my apartment. What's going on?! He followed after Edmund to try and get more information out of him.

Edmund started to panic, the realization of it all setting in as he clutched his chest. He turned sharply to Lumi as he shook his head. “I am a servant of the devil!!” He cried, tearing up with fear. “And now I have been sent to a time ahead of mine… oh beshrew me…” he sat on the couch, holding his head in his hands as he cried

@Fraust

"Uhm… I don't really know what to do to help you." Lumi laughed weakly, looking very unsure and uncomfortable. "Can't tell whether you're joking or not. Uh… what do you mean by 'servant of the devil'? Did you do something?" He asked Edmund.

Edmund wiped his eyes in a failed attempt to stop tears from running down his face. "I… I tempered with things I shouldn't have. I made promises I should have broke. A-and now… now I cant get back home!" He cried as he leaned into Lumi's shoulder

@Fraust

"Okayyy…" Lumi tensed up when Edmund touched them, still very confused and uncomfortable. "Well, uh… that sucks, but there's not really anything you can do about it now, eh? Just need to get conditioned to the new times. Where have you been for hundreds of years, anyway?"

Edward sat up slightly, embarrassed at his treatment towards such a noble… or whatever he was.
"Hell…" He muttered, drawing in his lanky limbs and curling up on the couch. "But… But I was only there for a few days until I escaped…" He sniffed, shaking his head. "What do I do…"

@Fraust

"Uh… right… hell. I guess time flows differently there." Lumi mumbled, trying his best to stay calm. "Well… um… I doubt you'll be able to go back unless you die, which you probably shouldn't do. You'll just have to figure out how to live in the 21st century, I guess. Other than all of the corruption, it's not so bad. We have some cool technology."

Edmund nodded slowly, wiping his eyes. "But I miss my cows!" He whined softly, running a finger over the brand on his hand.

@Fraust

"Well, yeah, but we have cows nowadays too. Not a lot in the city, but there's farms not too far away if you really wanna see cows." Lumi shrugged.

Edmund nodded slowly, resting his head on his knees as he stared forward blankly. "Beshrew me…" He mumbled again, closing his eyes as he imagined what could have been if he didn't dabble with evil forces. "Beshrew me indeed."

@Fraust

"Dude, I don't know what 'beshrew' means, but… uh… I dunno. There's nothing we can do about it now, so… let's just make the best of a bad situation, yeah? You got any questions that come to mind?" Lumi asked.

Edmund thought for a moment, face contorting with confusion. "Aye. Just a few. What doth those metal beasts be? And why art there castles all around? And where doth the peasants live? And…" He looked around for a moment, scooting a bit closer to the blonde.
"And art the pope still alive?"

@Fraust

"Uh… assuming by 'metal beasts' you mean cars. They're like… um… a horse and a carriage, but automated, I guess. They run themselves. Well, on gas, but more or less. They're our transportation. The 'castles' are just normal buildings and houses and apartments sort of like the one we're in right now. Our 'peasants' are just poor people, and they live around here for the most part, and… uh…" Lumi considered for a moment. "Well, I mean, we don't have a pope in America. I'm pretty sure there's one living somewhere, but it's been so long you wouldn't know them."

Edmund nodded softly, barely understanding, but still not wanting to look like a fool. He sat back, still processing everything that had happened, and what was to come.
"I see… Anon you mayhap introduce me to these… things you speak of?" He asked timidly, smiling softly at Lumi.
"Furthermore, shall I find somewhere else to stay? I do not want to intrude on thee…"

@Fraust

"Uh, I don't have a car since I'm poor, but you can see them outside. And I don't mind you staying here as long as you find some way to make money. I'm barely supporting myself as it is, so I can't afford to take on another person without some assistance." Lumi stretched and yawned, looking tired.

Edmund thought for a moment, then perked up as an idea came to him. "I shalt perform necromancy! And cast curses! I would make sixpence at least, an-" A loud honk was heard outside and Edmund jumped, clinging to Lumi. "what twas that?!"

@Fraust

"Necromancy? Uh… I dunno how well you'll do with that, but I guess you can see if there's any interest. And I dunno what our equivalent of a sixpence is… just try and find some way to make money." Lumi didn't jump at the horn, but they did jump when Edmund suddenly clung to him. "Get off me! It's just a car horn. You'll have to get used to those."
