Abie's fur immediately turned white and floofed out to such an extent that she looked almost spherical. SUGAR!!!! she squealed, immediately eating the sugar cube and bouncing around the kitchen, rocketing from surface to surface like a pinball set loose, squealing happily, her tail waving wildly and knocking the salt and pepper shakers, a paper towel rack, and a box of Cheez-Its onto the floor. Fortunately, the sugar high didn't last long - only about 30 seconds - and she skidded to a stop at Thea's feet, her fur returning to its normal size, darkening to eggplant purple: sleepy. She blinked blearily up at Thea. shep love to have a eat of sugar.

"C-control the earth?" Mashka wound her arms around her waist, her hair slowly covering her body like a cloak, mist swirling around her ankles. "I - I don't know what you're talking about…"
It brought back memories. Bad memories.
vines and
"I don't know," she mumbled blindly, mentally trying to bat away the memories swirling around her head like a crown of thorns.
leaves and
"Powers?"
dirt and
The mist was thickening.
trees -
She squeezed her eyes shut.
Not the Nightmare Room.
Vines burst from the planks at her feet and began winding their way up her ankles; with a squeal, her eyes flying open, she wrenched her feet out of the vines and stepped away, trembling.

Thea stared wide-eyed as the fluffy shep jumped about the kitchen, becoming a white streak as she bounced from one corner of the room to the next, littering the floor with food and strange pieces of cloth. Her eyes followed the bouncing ball until it came to a stop before her, its white fur turning to a dark purple. Her mouth fell open as she tried to find something to say. "I-that…if we get in trouble for this…I'm telling them it was you, and that I had nothing to do with it." She stared at Abie with hard eyes, but she couldn't stop the left corner of her lips from turning up in a sly smile, "come on, I want to show Arwood your gift!"
With the sugar cubs still clasped in her fist, Thea jogged down the hallway, craning her neck to look around corners as she shot past them. Nothing out of place. Nothing new.
“It hardly seems-” The house suddenly gave a low groan, and as the strange noise slowly faded, a new sound reached her ears. The young girl skitted to a stop, brown eyes darting about the empty house in suspicion. "Abie, did you hear that? It sounded li-" her words were cut short as a strangled cry drifted from the parlor where they had left their companions. “Oh no, no, no, no!” Thea took off toward the room. She could feel her gut tightening as the magic began to swirl around in her mind, making her senses more focused. She could smell the wool of the rugs, could hear the sound of dripping water coming from the floor above. None of that mattered, she focused on the sounds coming from the parlor and pushed her legs to go faster as she heard the sound of a sword being drawn. Come on. Come on. Please don’t let me be too late. Please, please, please.
As she rounded the corner she froze and stared in shock at the unexpected turn of events raging before her.
Mashka was surrounded by large green vines that twisted and writhed as they clawed their way about the room, ripping up boards and wrapping themselves tightly around anything in their path.
Arwood had fallen to the ground, trying in vain to hack at the long green tounges already wrapping around his ankles. Thea watched in horror as they started up his legs, traveling toward his torso. They pulled, yanked, and dragged him toward the larger mass of tentacles. A string of curses flowing from his lips as he began to panic, a sight Thea wasn’t accustomed to seeing.
Taking a step forward, Thea put her full attention onto the large plants, willing them to follow her mind. Her hands clenched into tight fists as she struggled against the strange energy that controlled them. Whatever power was controlling them was far stronger than she. Slowly, the plants began to unwind themselves from around the houses objects, and her companions. She let out a short gasp and shoved every last ounce of energy into forcing the plants to do her bidding. The greenery suddenly became ridged and no longer moved.
Thea collapsed to the ground, her breath coming in short gasps, watching the house swim before her gaze, her stomach swirled with it, making her feel like she was about to be sick. Squeezing her eyes shut, she fought against the darkness that began to wrap itself around her mind, seeming to try and suffocate her. Sweat poured down her face and crept beneath her lids, stinging her eyes.
When enough strength came back to her limbs, Thea started to her feet and strode right up to Mashka.
"What were you thinking?!" She hissed, hands trembling with unsuppressed rage, "that was the most…idiotic move I have ever seen, and lassy, I've seen some pretty stupid things! If you can't control your powers. Don't. Use. It. It's common sense! You could have killed someone!"

(Oof, that turned out a lot longer than I originally planned. Sorry :))

@murphysgirl

Mashka squeezed her eyes shut. Two enormous, pearly tears leaked from the corners of her eyes and dripped down her cheeks. There was an enormous rumble from outside, followed by the steady drum of rain beating a tattoo on the roof. Mist cloaked her body.
"I - I don't -" She sniffed loudly. "I don't know how to…"
With a soul-wrenching cry, she fell to the floor and curled up, sobbing. It was the Nightmare Room all over again. If only Mansion was here, Mansion would know what to do.
She spread a palm flat on the wooden floor, willing the house to wake up, but nothing moved. Was it not like Mansion? Why wasn't it like Mansion?
Abie, meanwhile, sensing Mashka's distress, trotted over to the girl and snuggled against her, her fur growing warm as she absorbed some of the intense emotion rolling through Mashka's body. With a loud sniff, Mashka tentatively placed a hand on Abie's back, winding her fingers into the shep's fluffy fur. Abie nuzzled against Mashka's side as they heard the distant rumble of thunder. The vines, meanwhile, wilted, drooping limply to the ground, their vibrant green fading.

Thea took a step back, shaking her head in anger, determined not to be undone by Masha’s tears. Even as she had the thought, she felt a pang of guilt as she watched Mashka crumple to the ground, the young woman's sobs echoing through the room. She bit her lip lower lip and took a step back, never one to comfort. She never knew what to do in emotional situations.
It wasn’t that she didn’t have a heart, she never thought her ways of solace ever worked, they felt forced, fake, and she was sure they did more harm than good.
"Mashka…I…" She watched Abie trot over to the fallen girl and nodded in relief. Abie knew how to comfort, Mashka was going to be fine.
Thea turned to see her fallen companion slowly sitting up. His sword was no longer in his grasp but lying a few feet away from his person. He was rubbing his wrists, his face pale but the panic could no longer be seen as he slowly returned to his cool self.
Thea started toward him, still watching Abie and Mashka in the corner of her eye. Before she had taken half a dozen steps, the man stood to his feet and walked toward Mashka.
He knelt beside her and gently laid a hand upon her shoulder, his other hand itching Abie under the chin.
"You are alright Mashka, there is nothing here to hurt you. Thea will not bite, she may bark, but she will never bite." Thea shifted from foot to foot nervously, wondering where this was heading, and wishing he hadn’t brought her into the situation. "It was not your fault," he continued, "the blame falls on me, I should have known better than to ask..those certain questions. I saw your discomfort but still pressured you. It will not happen again.." He gently brought the young woman to her feet and gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze, "you did well."
Thea followed the wanderer with her eyes as he picked up his sword and sheathed it.
“Whatever,” she mumbled, “I don’t care who is or isn’t to blame. One of us could have gotten hurt…or worse.”

Mashka nervously dried her tears, hiccuping, her hair jolting every time the hiccups spasmed her body. Abie, who had giggled happily at Arwood's touch, now kept close to Mashka's feet, looking warily up at Arwood.
"I… thanks." Mashka used her hair to dry her tears. Her eyes had a faintly greenish tinge, thanks to the chlorophyll in her veins. "It brings memories…"
Abie rubbed against Mashka's feet, her tail curling around one of Mashka's legs. thea will not bites. thea is just lonely. but shep will do a bites if someone is mean to the fluffy shep. She giggled. thea gave shep a eat of sugar! shep love to have a happy eat of sugar.

Apz had watched the entire situation, for once choosing not to intervene. Even if they were built as a defensive machine, their use of force was often described as ‘too much’ by most people. They weren’t exactly good with toning that down. Especially if a certain horror was in control, which with the sudden emergence of the vines, had woken back up. Apz spent their time fighting off any stray vines that had dared to cross them.
Besides - their main focus had shifted to their inner workings, specifically, their radar. It could detect lifeforms if needed, but Apz didn’t have that option selected, not even when they first were transported to the house. Instead, the radar currently detected machines.

And there was the problem. A sudden blip, as if out of nowhere, had shown up on the thing. Apz was extremely silent and still on the outside, but on the inside, they were rather busy. Perone in specific had blocked out the other two minds just to focus. The signal was familiar. Too familiar, almost the same model - just a bit older than themselves. They couldn’t hear any clanking, any heavy footsteps, which was odd, given the signal wasn’t that far, and it was on the move, it seemed.
Unless, of course, the signal was a distraction. In which Apz would need to take the proper measures in order to avoid an ambush by this possible enemy. There weren’t many machines, especially sentient ones, that Apz was friends with.
Finally moving around, the war machine tilted their head back and peered around at all of the exits in the room. The signal was still a ways away, though it was somewhere within the structure. Apz would need to make a choice - either they seek it out, or they wait it out.

I’ve come for you.

In silence and speed that would seem impossible for such a thing of its stature, the machine begins with the hallway that they’d been transported to all of the sudden. At first, it was surprising, but TW-01 wouldn’t let themselves be caught off guard by that out of all things. In fact, a quick scan had shown that one of their bounties was within the location, though previous damage to their systems had left them unable to exactly pinpoint the location.
Unlike their counterpart, TW-01 was much taller, less bulkier. Their paint was also a strange mix of dark brown and green, and parts of it had chipped, as though it hadn’t been repainted in some time. In addition, they adorned less armour than their bounty, and in an eerie way, their inner structure had been exposed, though nothing that would provide a killing shot should these exposed parts be hit. Also unlike their counterpart, TW-01 had sported a rough looking cloak dotted with leaves and what looks to be sticks here and there, the fabric torn at places, but patterned in what seemed to be a camouflage look. The cloak draped over what seemed to be their head, shadowing it all save for their scanners - eyes - which they had several of, one at the centre of their head, one small one to the right, and two small scanners below the main eye. Similar to their counterpart - the scanners were of course, red.

TW-01 continued on with its search.

(Sorry y'all. Life threw me a curveball, but I think I'm back. I'll try and write a reply tonight.)
(Also, Murphy, Abie is adorable!)
