Tropes applying to the Tribal Chief of the du Cronos Dynasty, Freki du Cronos
Berserk Button: He has a few:
- Defiance within the Dynasty. He's not one to jump straight to violence for every slip-up, often preferring to offer his family or subordinates another opportunity to make up for a failing, displaying an uncommon form of practical villainy among dragons. However, disobeying or showing disrespect to him, particularly within earshot, is a grave error. Your best outcome in that scenario? Facing his terrifying death glare. The alternative? Let's just say it involves a not-so-pleasant encounter with the ground.
- Bleeding. It's not like he doesn’t already have a fiery temper when he’s pissed, but we’d never seen him lose it completely until Nicoletta blindsided him with a conqueror bullet to the face. It cut him open for the first time since he became the Tribal Chief. He completely snapped, charging after Nicoletta with a rage that no one had ever seen from him before, resulting in her knocking her out with one swing. His rage was so extreme that his four consorts had to physically restrain him, reminding him that the fight was over and there was no need to escalate further, as both he and Nicoletta had already proven their points.
- If you use the word "Bitch," Freki will quickly get aggressive, especially if you're referring to one of his wives or his daughter. Unless there is something else that requires his immediate attention, calling him a son of a bitch will undoubtedly result in a fight.
Freki has no patience for people who can’t take a loss and move on. In fact, after their first fight, he actually had a bit of respect for Quincey. For a human, Quincey put up an impressive show, strong enough that Freki gave him more acknowledgment than anyone would expect from the Tribal Chief toward a mere man. But Quincey’s insistence on a rematch? That got old fast. Freki had moved on, fully consumed by his rivalry with Medea, the only opponent he truly saw as worthy. But Quincey’s relentless nagging, his constant challenges, started to wear down even Freki’s considerable patience. Finally, in the thick of the Atlantic War, Freki had enough. In one brutal move, he put an end to Quincey’s pursuit once and for all, bringing his foot down on Quincey’s spine with a crushing force that left him paralyzed.
Benevolent Boss: As a proper Noble Demon, Freki is a surprisingly fair and respectful leader—at least toward those within his Dynasty who prove themselves competent and loyal. He genuinely values hard work and rewards those who deliver results.
- In fact, if there’s one thing Freki truly appreciates, it’s a job done right. That’s why, when the V7D returned his lost puppy son to him, his reaction wasn’t exactly that of a worried father—though there was still a hint of concern underneath. Instead, it felt more like a mafia boss expressing appreciation for a favor well executed. He even went so far as to thank them for “providing him with a good service.”
The Leader: As the head of the du Cronos Dynasty, a mafia-like organization of dragons and wolves, he is currently spearheading their covert operation to gradually gain control of the four dragon realms from within.
Badass Cape: He's often seen with a luxurious furred cape, matching his Barbarian King vibe.
The Perils of Being the Best: Coupled with a dose of The Chains of Commanding due to his title of Tribal Chief. As the greatest warrior of his generation in the du Cronos Dynasty, Freki carries an enormous burden. He’s taken it upon himself to be the “Head of the Dynasty”—the one responsible for keeping the clan fed, respected, and protected. That role comes with a crushing weight, a constant reminder that failure simply isn’t an option. Freki doesn’t back down from that responsibility, even when it means clashing with his own blood. If his younger brothers step out of line or dare to challenge him, he’ll put them in their place without hesitation. It’s not that he doesn’t care for them—he did, probably more than he let on—but for Freki, the survival of the clan and his place as alpha always come first. When the time comes to defend that power, he’s more than willing to unleash his full strength and fury.
“You think I don’t know they’re hungry?” Freki growled, stepping forward, looming. His voice rose—not in volume, but pressure. “You think I sleep at night while they cry into empty bowls? You think I haven’t bled to keep this clan fed? Every ration goes through me. Every death comes back to me. You want to carry that weight, boy?”
Wacky Parent, Serious Child: The calm, collected, serious, stoic, and aggressive Head of the du Cronos Dynasty is the son of the flamboyant, extroverted, flirtatious, and lustful dragon sun god. Inverted with his own daughter Juni.
Animal Motifs: Wolf. Duh!
Fatal Flaw: When Medea Norrington, whose very clear Fatal Flaw is Wrath, looks at you and says, "Mate, you're way too violent, always itching for a fight," you better think you might have a problem. I mean, think about it. Medea's known for her own no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners attitude when it comes to throwing down. She has the disposition and insticts of a Professional Killer, and is ready to resort to brutal violence if she feels provoked enough. She is telling you to chill on the aggression. Damn...
- For more details see ''Soldier versus Warrior'' above, you might understand why Medea believes Freki might have a problem!
''Well Done, Son!'' Guy: Quite Downplayed. Freki runs things his way. He trusts his gut, calls the shots, and leads the du Cronos Dynasty without worrying about anyone else’s opinion. He’s not the type to seek validation or approval, but when Anthony shows him pride, it hits different. Freki doesn’t need anyone else’s praise, but the pride from his father—seeing that look—actually gets to him.
- Eventually deconstructed as Freki found out wanting to do things his father's way would bring no long term benefit to the Dynasty, and eventually found out Anthony is the weak link in the Dynasty after all.
Enemy Mine: Freki has his ego, and hispersonal agenda come first, always. That said, those same goals occasionally put him on a collision course with threats the V7D are already dealing with. When that happens, he’ll act—not to help them, but to assert his own dominance or protect what he considers his. Any assistance he provides is incidental at best and self-serving at worst, but given his usual disposition, even that much is more than they can reasonably expect.
Animalistic Abomination: Downplayed. Freki’s a total beast of a wolf; huge, intimidating, and built like a powerhouse. But if you look close, there are little details that scream dragon blood running through his veins. His fur’s this unnatural, dark crimson, almost like it’s been soaked in dried blood. And his eyes? They’re straight-up unsettling. The sclera’s pitch black, with amber irises that narrow into sharp, vertical slits. It gives him this intense, almost otherworldly look, like you’re staring into something that doesn’t belong.
Half-Breed Discrimination: Because of his mixed heritage, Akane decided it was better for Freki to stay with her pack, figuring it was the safest option he had. The Southern Dragons, with their strict obsession with bloodline purity, never really saw him as one of their own. To be fair, they didn’t attack him—but not out of acceptance or kinship. It was more about avoiding the wrath of the Crimson Emperor and the Shape of Heaven than anything resembling goodwill.
- The dynamics within the wolf pack were not exactly friendlier, as their feelings towards Freki were rooted more in fear than hatred. This fear intensified as Freki's size and strength surpassed that of any other wolf in the pack. It became increasingly apparent that he was growing into a dominant force, both physically and in terms of his position within the du Cronos Dynasty.
Child of Forbidden Love: Freki was the result of an affair between Anthony du Cronos, the future dragon god of the Upper World, and Akane, the commanding officer of the Arctic Wolves clan. The thing is, the Velkanian wolves had this sacred oath of loyalty to Laurel , so mixing with dragons, especially ones from the du Cronos bloodline, was a major no-go. And to make things messier, Akane was already married at the time. Yeah, it’s a whole lot of drama wrapped up in one guy’s existence.
Stealth Expert: Like the predator he is, Freki’s got this uncanny ability to melt into the shadows and approach his targets with stealth and cunning. Sure, his massive size and bone-chilling howls might make you think he's just brute force, but the truth is, he’s a silent hunter. He plays the game of deception, only making his presence known when he wants to.
Why Did You Make Me Hit You?: As Tribal Chief, Freki sees any challenge to his authority as a direct slap in the face—one that deserves a serious, violent response. He believes his power is his right, and anyone who tries to undermine him is threatening not just his position but the safety of his entire family. To him, if you won’t bow to his rule, you’re the one asking for trouble.
“You don’t get to wear this crest if you’d rather be right than loyal. And if I have to beat that truth into your skull to make you understand it—then you made me do that.”
- Medea is precision and discipline personified, the very image of a seasoned Soldier—calculated, deliberate, and ruthlessly efficient. Her approach to combat is meticulous, every movement honed for effectiveness, and when it comes to eliminating her targets, she’s all brutal pragmatism, sparing no time for hesitation. She operates with a steely focus that makes her a lethal force and a model professional killer.
- Freki, on the other hand, is the pure, unfiltered spirit of a Warrior. There’s a touch of refinement to him, yes, but it’s overshadowed by an untamed, almost regal savagery. He commands respect through his sheer, unyielding power and a personal code that revolves around dominance and survival. Freki lives for the thrill of raw strength and the enduring power of his lineage.
Vetinari Job Security: Freki is like a necessity for the du Cronos Dynasty and even for the entire Four Realms, if you ask me. When he's out of the picture or unable to act, chaos erupts in the criminal underworld and among a good chunk of the draconic population. It's a real pain in the ass for Medea. Sure, Freki might just be a mortal like the rest of us, but it's the whole "devil you know" mentality that keeps everyone in line. Criminals and heroes alike tolerate him because, well, they figure he's the lesser of many evils. And that's what makes Freki the Tribal Chief, ruling the roost with his own brand of authority.
“Only if you like your criminals disorganized, desperate, and stupid,” she said, sharply. “Freki might be a bastard, but he’s a predictable one. And predictable means manageable.”
The Dreaded: Almost everyone who has encountered him understands the importance of not getting on his bad side. The V7D managed to leave the du Cronos Dynasty's territory without any trouble because they had earned their lives back by giving him back his son and were granted permission to do so.
Repressive, but Efficient: The unofficially dubbed "Fifth Dragon Realm," more commonly recognized as the du Cronos Dynasty, may be ruled with an iron fist by Freki and the du Cronos family, but it is prosperous. Within its boundaries, there is no room for crime or poverty, and its citizens enjoy the benefits of free healthcare. Betrayals are scarce, and the inhabitants find themselves engaged in fulfilling work that aligns with their unique talents. Surprisingly, there are no correctional facilities in the realm, for any transgressors are easily dealt with through execution or, in rare cases, banishment if luck favours them. While the primary responsibility of each individual is to procure their sustenance through hunting, it serves more as a means to sharpen their hunting skills rather than a necessity for survival.
Generation Xerox: He displays his mother's strong leadership skills, respect for worthy adversaries, and stoic demeanour, while also inheriting his father's pride, burning determination, and sharp intellect.
Thou Shalt Not Kill: While Freki doesn’t adhere to a strict code against killing, he takes no pleasure in it either. What he values is the certainty of dominance; knowing he has utterly broken his opponent. Once an enemy is beaten and no longer able to fight back, Freki has little interest in finishing them off.
- Even when he has personal reason to despise someone (even when he actively sought them out for a brutal confrontation) he is usually content to walk away after the fight is decided, regardless of whether they stubbornly try to rise again.
- In some cases, defeating an opponent only makes their value clearer. If they demonstrate enough skill or resolve, Freki may decide their talents are better put to use serving the Dynasty than wasted on the ground. For someone who fully expects to have their spine torn out, being nursed back to health and offered a position under Freki in exchange for a fair wage tends to be a compelling alternative. As a result, very few people refuse his offers.
Worthy Opponent: He regards Medea as a worthy opponent, and the feeling is mutual. He seemed upset when it appeared that Medea had died in Warren's dimension, and he was impressed when she not only survived but outsmarted him within his own game. Now, don't get it twisted. Freki still wants to have Medea's head in his royal chamber. He's hungry for that victory. But at the same time, he recognizes that if he's gonna be defeated, Medea is the perfect candidate to take that win. It's a complex form of respect, an unconventional admiration for her extraordinary abilities.
''You and I, we are equals, of a kindred spirit. You hold respect for my prowess and I your resolve, despite our differing paths. Only your hand may wield the blade that ends my existence, as mine may yours. Perhaps it's your attention I seek, or maybe it's the stirrings of affection. Together, we propel each other to uncharted summits, bound by fate, entwined in destiny's embrace.''
- Later on, he develops a similar opinion of Jonathan, Medea's adopted son, even referring to him as "Witch," a moniker that, back in the original Norrington's Desire, was exclusively attributed to Medea.
Blue-and-Orange Morality: Freki was raised and lived with THE example of ambiguous morality, and has inherited his father's rather interesting sense of right and wrong. He doesn’t care about what’s considered “right” or “just” by society’s standards. He isn’t interested in fairness, ethics, or moral debates. For Freki, there’s only one thing that matters: protect your territory and your people. That’s the entire foundation of his worldview. Everything else? Irrelevant. If you're weak, if you're incompetent, if you're irresponsible, or—worst of all—disloyal? Then you're worse than useless. You're a liability. And Freki has no tolerance for liabilities, not when it threatens his pack. He doesn’t view cruelty as evil. He sees it as a tool, something that can be useful when necessary. He doesn’t flinch at the idea of hurting others if it means keeping his people safe. To him, the real sin isn’t brutality—it’s weakness. Hesitating when it counts. Failing to defend what’s yours. That’s what he finds unforgivable. Because in their world, hesitation gets people killed. Softness makes you prey.
- But that doesn’t mean he’s some mindless beast who just revels in destruction. No, Freki’s calculated. He makes his choices carefully, always weighing what’s best for his pack. Sometimes that means making ruthless, morally gray decisions. Sometimes it means being the monster people fear so that the people he cares about never have to. And to him, that’s not a sacrifice. It’s just the way things are.
''Freki stepped forward. Laid a hand—gentle, almost paternal—on the boy’s shoulder. “This isn’t about cruelty,” he said softly. “It’s about clarity. The pack cannot survive if its weakest links break under pressure. You failed us. That is truth. And truth demands a price.”
Mundanger: What makes Freki truly dangerous isn’t just his strength, skills, or fighting experience—it’s how normal he can seem in a world where most threats are loud, supernatural, or in-your-face. Freki isn’t some towering god or chaotic monster (even if he can fight like one). What makes him terrifying is that he acts like a regular person. He’s a manipulator. A con artist. Someone who knows exactly how to play the game of trust and deception. He’ll come across as sincere, even charming. He might throw an arm around your shoulder, speak like a friend, and promise to protect you or help you succeed. He’ll make you feel safe—like as long as you’re with him, you’ve got nothing to fear. And for a while, it’ll even feel true. You’ll let your guard down. You’ll trust him. That’s how he gets you.
Impossibly Graceful Giant: There's not realistic way a 7ft tall man (or a 13ft tall wolf) should be as agile as Freki is in both his forms.
The Don: Freki runs the du Cronos Dynasty the way a veteran mafia boss would run an empire—tight control, smooth presentation, and ruthless efficiency. He speaks in a calm, polished tone that sounds polite on the surface, but underneath it, there’s always a quiet warning. You’ll rarely hear him yell or make overt threats; he doesn’t have to. His authority comes through in how he carries himself—calm, confident, always in control. Every move he makes feels intentional, like part of a larger strategy. It’s that mix of sophistication and savagery, imagine a man in a tailored black suit, cultured and refined, but with blood still fresh under his nails. That’s Freki—civilized on the outside, brutal underneath. He doesn’t dirty his hands unless he wants to make a point. More often than not, he has loyal subordinates to do the heavy lifting, and they do it gladly. If you step out of line, you probably won’t get a warning—just consequences. Either you vanish quietly or something awful happens to make an example out of you. And when you least expect it, he’ll either handle your downfall behind the scenes or send his goons to make sure you regret crossing him. His father, Anthony, wasn’t thrilled with the direction Freki took the Dynasty—turning it more into a power-based syndicate than a traditional monarchy. But Freki earned his trust by results. Under Freki’s leadership, the Dynasty didn’t just grow stronger—it expanded its influence across at least two other dragon realms and gained political leverage over several other civilizations. Cold-blooded or not, his reign is terrifyingly effective.
Freki lifted his glass again. “This is the new Dynasty. And in my house, everyone eats. But nobody takes without asking.”
Dumb Muscle: Freki can be strategic—he's got the brains, the instincts, the experience. He knows how to set a trap, how to manipulate a battlefield, how to play the long game, but his tendency to get petty and his short fuse usually throw that out the window.
- He’s quick to ditch the smart play for straight-up brute force.
- Another major flaw? He underestimates people all the time. He assumes they can’t touch him—and to be fair, he’s usually right.
- That said, taking advantage of these weaknesses isn’t exactly easy. Because Freki isn't just some hotheaded fighter who lets his emotions get the better of him. He knows he can bulldoze through most of his problems with sheer brute force—and most of the time, he's right. He’s built like a tank, fast enough to close the gap before you can react, strong enough to turn a miscalculation into a win purely because he can afford to. You might have the perfect counter, the perfect plan to take him down—but if you’re not fast enough? If you don’t execute flawlessly? You’re dead.
The Man Behind the Man: If the V7D is on a mission, chances are pretty high that any dragon or wolf they come across is either under Freki du Cronos' command or connected to him in some way. We're talking better than fifty-fifty odds here.
Insistent Terminology: Freki has a peculiar habit of consistently referring to Medea as "The Witch," hardly ever using her actual name. It has become almost customary for him to employ this title when addressing her. However, on the rare occasions when he does utter her name, it is often accompanied by an air of disdain.
It Runs in the Family: Much like his father uses knee strikes and his mother uses kicks, Freki likes to use his legs during battle, he likes to stomp his opponents when they're laying on the ground, to be precise.
Non-human Humanoid Hybrid: Freki was born from the union of a common she-wolf and a dragon. He can take a human form because royal-blooded dragons are born with the ability to do so.
Small Parent, Huge Child: Zig-zagged. When you see Freki and his father standing next to each other, the height difference is impossible to miss. In his human form, Freki absolutely dwarfs his dad—his father’s head barely makes it to his collarbone. But when they shift into their true forms, it’s a whole different story. Freki looks so tiny next to his father that he could easily walk across his dad’s back like it’s a road.
Bishounen: When he was a young adult, he had a handsome, boyish appearance. However, when they saw his unsettling eyes, most people chose to disregard this.
Pragmatic Villainy: Freki is quite efficient at avoiding fights that are unnecessary or needlessly dangerous. He’s also surprisingly supportive to his subordinates within the du Cronos Dynasty, offering help when they’re in trouble—as long as they haven’t betrayed him. But this isn’t out of genuine care; in fact, some of these very subordinates used to bully or fear him when he was younger—Instead, it's because he values loyalty and doesn't see the point in having his subordinates hate him.
- Interestingly, he doesn’t even act like a brute most of the time. Freki is more likely to talk his way through a situation, persuading or manipulating others to get what he wants. But if you betray his trust or disappoint him, he drops the act in an instant and becomes absolutely ruthless—striking with terrifying force and no restraint. That feral, violent side is always there, just beneath the surface, waiting to erupt when provoked.
“ I won't punish you because you’re useful,” Freki continued, walking around him now, his hand brushing the back of Vyrn’s chair. “You’ve been loyal, mostly. You’ve helped keep things running smoothly. But loyalty is a fragile thing, isn’t it? And people can be tempted when they think they’re untouchable.”
First Injury Reaction: One of the first times Freki felt true humiliation was during a match with Nicoletta. Instead of fighting him normally, she pulled out Whisper while he was urging her to call off the match—he had no intention of hurting her. The bullet struck his forehead, cutting him open for the first time since his ascension as Tribal Chief. Having been practically invincible for decades, Freki completely freaked out upon seeing his own blood. He couldn’t think clearly and charged Nicoletta with far more force than necessary, knocking her to the ground with a single punch.
- Even though Nicoletta couldn’t stand after the blow, the real impact was on Freki’s reputation. It was the first time his people had ever seen him bleed, shattering the aura of untouchable mystique he had carefully maintained.
Dramatic Deadpan: A lot. If he raises his voice, it means some serious shit has gone down.
The Big Guy: He towers over his fellow du Cronos dynasty members and boasts the most impressive physique among them, making him an imposing figure.
Badass Boast: After defeating Ma’at and Nick and cementing his absolute dominance as the head of the du Cronos Dynasty, Freki's first words as the High Chief were: “It was never my dream to be your Tribal Chief. Dreams are an exercise in futility.” With that one statement, he made it clear—his rise to power wasn’t about ambition or legacy. It wasn’t something he hoped for or had handed to him by his father. It simply happened because it had to. His victory wasn’t just earned—it felt inevitable, unstoppable, and completely his own.
Strong and Skilled: Freki’s got a sharp, polished fighting style and the raw power to back it up. But honestly? He rarely has to lean on those skills. He’s so naturally gifted with strength, stamina, and toughness that he can get away with fighting like a straight-up brawler. No finesse, no fancy moves—just brute force that’s more than enough to overpower most opponents.
Classic Villain: Unlike the flamboyant, scheming, and theatrical villains that make up much of the cast in Norrington’s Desire, Freki stands out by being everything that you expect from a traditional Final Boss, the kind you'd expect in a video game, anime, or grand epic. Freki doesn’t rely on deception; instead, he goes all out with raw, towering power and a near-obsessive drive to prove himself in and out of the arena.
- He’s ruled almost entirely by two dominant Deadly Sins—Pride and Wrath—and his appearance reflects this persona: typically clad with a fur cape and bare chested, he contrasts sharply with the flashier, more eccentric looks of his opponents, especially the members of the V7D.
- Freki’s life revolves around the pursuit of greatness. He hunts down challenges not for justice or conquest, but to stack up victories, break records, and cement his legacy through glorious combat.
- For many heroes, facing Freki is the climax of their journey—whether it ends in a hard-won victory that defines their legend, or in utter defeat that proves just how far they still have to go.
- Every time he steps into the ring to defend his position or face a challenger, it’s an event of massive significance—both within and beyond the du Cronos Dynasty. His matches are always unforgettable, historic, and earns a person lifelong bragging rights and solidifies their place in the world’s memory if they manage to survive him—win or lose.
Soft-Spoken Sadist: Freki contrasts with almost every du Cronos in the entire Dynasty because of how calm he acts. No matter how cruel he may treat you in a fight or how much he hates you, he'll never get louder than maybe somewhat of an outdoor voice because of the nature of the game.
Villain Respect: Freki stands out as the antagonist who holds the utmost respect for Medea, going to the extent of addressing her as "Witch."
Expy: Of the Norse God Thor, let's count the similarities, shall we?:
- Fiery red hair and beard? Check.
- Son of a top god and a non-god race (wolf/jotunn)? Check.
- Widely feared among his enemies? Check.
- The warrior son of a non-combatant god? Check.
- Fathered two children with similar names (James/Modi and Juni/Magni)? Check.
- Fought and survived an encounter with Death (Elli/Medea)? Check.
Time-Passage Beard: During flashbacks, Freki's facial hair consisted of a perpetual five o'clock shadow, but in the present day when he meets with the V7D, he sports an imposing and untamed beard of command.
Would Not Hit a Girl or a Kid: Freki, for the most part, avoids hitting women and children—but not out of some chivalric notion of fragility. It’s less 'women are weak' and more 'I don’t waste my time on people who can’t hit back.' His reluctance has more to do with avoiding unnecessary bloodshed—particularly from those he sees as civilians—than any kind of gallantry.
- His track record paints a clearer picture: he respects Akane with the same reverence and love he saves for Anthony, floored Miyuki without hesitation, knocked Nicoletta flat, and is locked in what can only be described as a violent, never-ending dick measuring contest with Medea. The conclusion? If he knows you can throw a proper punch, he’s more than happy to return the favour.
Mr. Fanservice: Creepy eyes aside, he is a long-haired, Tall, Dark, and Handsome Hunk. In his showdown with Quincey, when he shed his vest and suit, his raw masculine appeal was too much for some of the onlookers. Medea even pointed out the audible excitement from the onlookers, while Nicoletta couldn’t help but comment that his abs could probably grill a steak on their own.
Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Freki is the only wolf in the du Cronos Dynasty to be a direct offspring of a dragon, and as a result, he is the only one with distinctive red fur (though given his enormous size, it'd be difficult to overlook the fact that he's half-dragon).
Super Mob Boss: The Tribal Chief is the perfect example of a crime lord (or technically a ruler) who can stand toe-to-toe with our four heroes. He’s not just a tough opponent—he’s a relentless, looming threat. What really makes him stand out, though, is that he’s not some throwaway villain you can just get rid of. He’s too important, too essential to the bigger picture.
Baddie Flattery: Freki had no problem calling Quincey "a world-class athlete with a wrecking ball for a right hand," and he wasn’t shy about saying that Yuki’s speed actually got on his nerves during their fight. But he made it clear again—despite all their strengths, their combined efforts still weren't enough. He had both of them pinned down at the same time.
Afraid of Needles: Like your typical canine, Freki has a crippling fear of needles. But instead of whimpering and running away, they trigger an intense fury in him. The very idea of a shot is enough to set him off, which is totally out of character for him.
Parents as People: Freki might not be winning any "Father of the Year" awards, but he does care about his kids—just, you know, in his own way. At his core, he's still a wolf:
- He was pretty fatherly with his older sons, striking a good balance between being protective and trusting them to handle things on their own. He made sure they were well-trained, staying hands-on during their wolf training. But when it came to their human forms, he left that to Maisy and Rhona, letting them take the lead on that side of their development. He’s got their backs, but he knows they can take care of themselves too.
- With James, his son with Megan, things got... tricky. For one, James was born at a time when Freki was really hoping for a daughter to carry on the family legacy, and to make it worse, he was born human. Freki never mistreated the kid—he always made sure James had a seat at the family table. But, realistically, growing up with a father who'd drilled his disdain for humanity into him meant that Freki never really showed much interest in his human son. Once James was old enough, Freki sent him off under the excuse of him needing to "find his own path." But deep down, Freki just wanted him out of the picture.
- But sending James away wasn’t as simple as it might’ve seemed at first. Eventually, Freki came to realize how harsh his decision was, and he even apologized to Megan for how he'd treated their son. This is exactly why, with Juni—the daughter he'd always wanted—he was genuinely afraid he’d turn out to be a terrible father to her too, and the thought of unintentionally being abusive, even if just through neglect, was something he couldn’t live with. He couldn’t bear the idea of being the kind of father who let down the child that Mary had given her life for. So, instead of raising her himself, he decided to let her stay with Medea’s family most of the time. That way, she’d have a chance to grow up without his mistakes dragging her down, while he still made sure to visit frequently, keeping the bond strong and teaching her to hone her wolf instincts
Third-Person Person: He will occasionally address himself as "your Tribal Chief". Whether he's talking to a member of the du Cronos Dynasty or not.
Groin Attack: Freki had Quincey on the ropes, totally dominating the fight for a solid ten minutes. He was showing off his skills, landing blow after blow with precision and power. But just when it seemed like Freki had it all under control, Quincey found an opportunity. With Megan momentarily distracted, Quincey pulled a sneaky move and delivered a swift kick right to Freki's groin (Talk about a low blow). It was a desperate move, a last-ditch effort to turn the tables and gain the upper hand in the fight.
Crippling Overspecialization: This is part of why Freki ended up losing against Medea. Yeah, both fighters had insane endurance, and even Medea admitted that, in terms of pure strength and melee combat skill, fighting Freki is basically signing your own death warrant. But at the end of the day, Freki was working with just his raw power, while Medea, in the Underworld, had an entire arsenal of chthonic abilities at her disposal. That’s where the gap showed. Freki's biggest weakness wasn’t his strength, it was his lack of versatility. His go-to strategy was overwhelming his opponent with sheer brutality, but against Medea with homefield advantage, that just wasn’t enough. Her body switching and endurance gave her a level of survivability that Freki had no real counter for. Normally, if he couldn’t win by obliterating his opponent, he could outlast them. But against someone who can bounce back from anything—even being set on fire—that strategy went straight out the window.
Born Winner: It’s not just implied—it’s practically a given that Freki is something unnatural. The spawn of a wolf and a dragon was never going to be anything ordinary, but even among his kin, he stands out. His sheer strength and presence set him apart from the moment he was born.
- Take his older brother, for instance. At his prime, the guy was everything a wolf could hope to be—strong, healthy, a perfect specimen of his kind. And yet, even when Freki was still growing, still nowhere close to his full size, he was already matching his brother in stature. Fast forward to adulthood, and Freki doesn’t just surpass him—he dwarfs him. Hell, he dwarfs pretty much any living wolf in Norrington’s Desire.
- And the wolves of the du Cronos Dynasty? They could challenge him for dominance, sure. It’s their right. But they don’t. Not because Freki won’t give them a fair fight—he always does—but because everyone knows how it’s going to end. The size and strength gap is just too much. It’s not a contest; it’s a death sentence.
- Even when Freki does get challengers closer to his size—dragons, for example—he still comes out on top. Not because they lack power, but because they lack him. The experience, the skill, the sheer instinct that Freki has honed in both his human and wolf form—it’s something that can’t be matched by brute strength alone.
- There’s a very good reason Laurel lost her mind when she found out Akane had broken her sacred law. There are things in this world that were never meant to exist. And Freki? He’s one of them.
Fights Like a Normal: Freki fights like a bulldog with anger management issues, channelling his inner prison thug and backyard brawler. Forget about fancy footwork or fancy moves. Freki's style is all about brute force and pure brutality. He's not here to dance around the ring or show off his fancy techniques. No, he's all about getting up close and personal, engaging in bone-crushing grappling, unleashing savage punches, and going for those ruthless chokeholds. And when he finally goes full wolf mode, you better believe he's ready to unleash some serious woof-ass.
Faux Affably Evil: Freki plays the role of the unshakable badass—the kind of guy who gives credit where it’s due, tips his hat to a worthy opponent, and never lets his emotions get the best of him. And honestly? Most of the time, that’s actually true. But here’s the thing—this act only holds up when he’s in control. The second someone actually pushes him, makes him work for a win? That’s when the cracks start showing. Suddenly, he’s not the polite, gentlemanly mafia boss anymore. He gets erratic, vicious. He stops just winning and starts breaking people. Like Father, Like Son indeed.
The Neidermeyer: Surprisingly enough, that’s not the case. You’d think ruling an empire through sheer fear would be Freki’s whole deal, but Anthony understood that fear alone could only take a ruler so far. So, he made sure Freki became the kind of leader who wouldn’t just execute someone over minor inconveniences. Freki isn’t the type to mistreat his people for no reason. When someone points out a mistake he’s made—a real mistake, not just some imagined slight—he doesn’t double down or throw a tantrum. He’ll concede, acknowledge the valid point, maybe even adjust his approach.
- But there’s always a certain weight to his response, a tone that practically drips with ‘watch your next words carefully’. And if the person doesn’t take the hint? Well… what happens next isn’t really his fault, is it?
Proud Warrior Race Guy: At first, he was too proud of his true heritage to even consider taking his human form. But Reality Ensues and he eventually has to concede that this form is not only practical, but it's also life-saving. Well, Freki (and by extension, the wolves of the du Cronos Dynasty overall) is more like a Proud Hunter Race Guy. He holds a deep pride in hunting and sees it as an integral part of his identity. This pride extends to the point where he and his fellow wolves view rival dragons as a mere game to be hunted. As Freki's hunting skills improved, so did his desire for more dangerous prey. Even when it came to Medea, he initially saw her as nothing more than a simple deer to be taken down.
Fair-Play Villain: Given his two fights with The V7Ds Medea and Quincey, Freki has demonstrated that he possesses adequate combat standards.
- He made the decision to forgo using any of his superhuman wolf abilities during their battle after he learned that Quincey was simply a human.
- Likewise, when facing Medea, Freki insisted on fighting her in the Underworld itself — fully aware that doing so would grant her a significant home-field advantage, as her shadow powers draw directly from that realm. He considered this only fair. After all, Freki’s own body is effectively a permanent home-field advantage wherever he goes.
Older Than They Look: After the Post-War 10-year time skip, the 56-year-old Freki doesn't look a day older since the first time he met The V7D. Justified due to his dragon heritage.
Friendless Background: Making friends with other kids is a real challenge when your whole clan either despises you or is terrified of you.
Furry Reminder: There have been plenty of instances proving that, despite standing tall and boasting the smarts and pride of a true du Cronos, he's still a wolf, with all the typical quirks and traits.
- Whenever he's in danger or feeling tense or angry, his hair puffs up. It's similar to how actual dogs raise their hackles when they're experiencing strong emotions like fear, anxiety, or excitement.
- Even if he maintains his stoic demeanor, Freki's wolf ears are the ultimate truth-tellers about how he's really feeling. Whether they perk up, droop down, or stay halfway, you can discern Freki's state of mind by observing his ears. Freki seems to be wise to this, which is why he masks his ears to resemble more human-like pointy ones.
Signature Move: Freki’s stomps, whether targeting an opponent’s arm or leg, are easily the most brutal, bone-crunching, and wince-worthy in the history of the du Cronos Dynasty—maybe even in all of Norrington’s Desire. At 7 feet tall and built like a freight train, just imagine all that mass and power coming down in a single stomp. Some people compare it to getting hit with a sledgehammer, and honestly, they’re not far off. He’s dislocated more than a few limbs with those moves. The irony? Freki himself got a taste of his own medicine during his fight with Medea. The Nero Angelo made sure to break one of his legs with a stomp so devastating it kept him grounded, leaving him wide open for her to keep pummeling him to the ground.
Happily Married: Very happy with his girlfriends Mary and Megan, although they're not married.
Boring, but Practical: Freki doesn’t completely stick to it, of course, since he’s also shown the skill and finesse of a seasoned martial artist. But this seems to be the general approach of the High Chief, who deliberately avoids flashy moves or technical displays. Instead, Freki leans heavily into brawling and grappling—tactics that maximize his sheer physicality. He’s not just throwing punches; he’s breaking bones. He’s not dodging or dancing around; he’s closing the distance, getting his hands on you, and making sure you feel every second of it. And when the one using these moves is the Big Red Machine himself? Yeah, it works.
Parental Favoritism: Anthony bragged about Freki to the point where Matt despised him, culminating in their duel for the du Cronos Dynasty, in which Freki was forced to defeat and later disown his brother.
Laurel: ''Anthony takes immense pride in every member of his Dynasty, but there's something special about the way he looks at Freki. When his eyes meet Freki's, it's as if he sees a reflection of his own accomplishments and potential. Freki has a way of bringing out the best in Anthony and igniting a sense of self-pride that he never knew existed. It's not just about the pride he feels for Freki; it's the pride he feels for himself, knowing that he has played a significant role in shaping the remarkable leader that Freki has become. Something tells me he feels that the wolf Freki has become would've been exactly the kind of wolf his late wife would be proud of.''
- Freki forgoes using any of his wolf abilities against Quincey since he acknowledged it would be only fair if he fought him as a man.
- Freki still respects the rules of combat, believing that when two or more people agree to face off in the ring, that ring is sacred. He often calls out the V7D for relying on their numbers the moment one of their members starts losing. This aligns neatly with his old-school mafia-boss mentality. Freki values traditional rules of engagement because they provide a structure he understands intimately — one he knows exactly how to bend without ever overtly breaking. He treats these rules as a system to be worked, preserving an outward sense of honor while quietly exploiting every advantage they afford.
- During Anthony and Akane's time running the Dynasty, membership was pretty exclusive—basically just dragons and wolves. Sure, other species could drop by, pay their respects, maybe do business, but joining? Not a chance. Under Freki's leadership, the Dynasty is open to anyone, no matter their species. The only requirements? Prove you're worth the job and, of course, show proper respect to the Tribal Chief.
- For all his evil tendencies, even Freki can’t stomach Ayuuki’s greed and selfishness—especially her treatment of her own children. Forcing her son (and Freki’s half-brother) to hunt, torture, and try to kill Yuki for information she obviously didn’t have? That was a line too far. So, when Ayuuki is finally beaten to a pulp by the V7D, Freki makes a dramatic entrance that looks like he’s there as her backup, sending the V7D into a panic. But instead of helping her, he finishes her off himself, making it clear he’s only there to retrieve Misaki’s body and has no intention of picking a fight with the V7D.
- When Freki found out Megan had summoned a demon to possess a young boy—forcing Medea into a sadistic choice between killing the child to end his unimaginable suffering or risking her own life and letting the demon wreak havoc—he completely lost it. He wasn’t just furious because he believes Medea deserves respect and a fair fight, but also because, understandably, he has zero tolerance for using kids as pawns in anyone’s twisted games.
Final Boss: The Tribal Chief is this by default but under Freki's reign, he's definitely the final boss of his Dynasty. Unlike the traditional way—where the alpha’s position is challenged only if they falter or if you have royal blood—Freki has turned the game on its head. His time as Tribal Chief is marked by an open challenge to anyone, even outsiders, daring enough to face him. But let’s be real: those challenges rarely end in anything but a resounding reminder of his dominance. With every fight, Freki stamps his authority and legacy onto the title, proving time and again why he stands above all.
Simple, yet Awesome: On paper, Freki isn’t exactly the flashiest character in Norrington’s Desire. Unlike his father, and to a lesser extent his mother, he’s a man of few words and even fewer facial expressions. His moves don’t have the theatrical flair or magical edge that most of the other characters bring to the table. But what he lacks in showmanship, he more than makes up for in raw power. Freki operates on a brutal, no-nonsense philosophy: Less is more. Do what works. Hit first, hit hard, and make sure they don’t get back up. While others dress their violence up in spectacle, he keeps his simple and devastating. There’s something terrifying about that. No dramatic wind-ups, no glowing auras, no excessive battle cries—just raw, unfiltered power honed to absolute precision. He doesn’t overwhelm with flashiness; he does it through sheer efficiency, breaking his enemies down like he’s dismantling an old machine, piece by agonizing piece.
- His signature move? His father has a running bycicle knee and his mother employs a spinning hook kick, while his... It’s just him stomping on a downed opponent’s limb. But the way his opponents react—screaming like he just dropped a wrecking ball on them—makes it feel like he’s hurling cannonballs, not stomp.
Hellish Pupils: Freki’s vertical slit pupils are a dead giveaway of his unique bloodline, a trait most people would associate with dragons. They’re a constant reminder of his mixed heritage—being a wolf with a dragon for a biological father.
Affair? Blame the Bastard: The union of Akane and a dragon proved a source of great turmoil for Askari, the she-wolf's mate. Fueled by sheer fury, he kept coming after young Freki, seeking vengeance for what he viewed as a betrayal to their pack. Despite Askari's relentless anger, Akane and Anthony remained resolute in their protection of their cub, going to great lengths to keep him out of harm's way. Ultimately, it was the sheer might of the Big Red Machine that overcame the assailant, enabling Freki to thrive and fulfill his own rites of passage as he grew into a formidable young wolf.
Blood Knight: Surprinsigly subverted. While Freki holds the ring sacred and genuinely enjoys combat, he treats it as a discipline—something to be respected, not abused. For him, fighting is a craft, not a craving. And despite what many of Anthony and Akane’s allies assumed, Freki is far from a warmonger.
''Endless bloodshed with no purpose? A cycle of carnage that never ends, with foes that just keep coming back, no matter how many times they're killed? Is that what you think I want? I am the Tribal Chief of the du Cronos Dynasty — not merely its leader, but its guardian. I am a neoemperor of military might used for any righteous cause I have judged to be absolute for the sake of my Dynasty. I don’t fear crushing those who stand in our way, but I don't spill blood without purpose. I won’t wage a war that never ends. But you will see. You will endure it. And when the dust settles, you will acknowledge me.''
Jerkass: Freki's a total jerk in the battlefield, and he wears that badge proudly, even when he's having his rare moments of sympathy. That said, he's a lot nicer than he'd ever let on, especially outside of any competitive setting. His arrogance really kicks into overdrive when he’s dealing with other alphas, warlords, or leaders of rival groups. The moment the du Cronos Dynasty’s reputation is on the line, you can expect Freki to be at his most unbearable. He sees these encounters as a chance to remind the world exactly where the du Cronos Dynasty stands—in other words, at the very top. He isn’t just fighting to win. He’s fighting to establish dominance, to carve into his opponent’s bones the undeniable fact that his Dynasty is the most powerful force in both the Upper and Under Worlds. And if he can rub that in along the way? Even better.
- However, this is mostly when the opponent is a wolf or a dragon. When Freki faces off against opponents who aren't wolves or dragons, he sees it as a chance to really test himself. He treats these matches like a welcome opportunity to see what other kinds of creatures the world has to throw at him. And, naturally, he takes the opportunity to figure out how to take them down and counter whatever they bring to the table.
I Know What You Fear: Freki has the ability to reveal a person's darkest fears, similar to how Medea's supernatural eyes allow her to perceive the chthonic creatures. Because of this, he has a deep insight into what people are fearful of, which he uses to his advantage, planting seeds of doubt. It was revealed that, analogous to how Medea earned her eyes from Laurel, Freki acquired this talent from his dad.
Achilles' Heel: Being kicked in the dick. It's the only surefire way to bring the mighty du Cronos leader to his knees - quite literally. Despite his impressive record and skill in battle, Freki's been taken down more than once by a well-placed strike to his vulnerable nether region. It's a sore spot (pun intended) for the wolf, and one that his opponents are quick to exploit. Perhaps it's time for Freki to consider some protective gear before his next bout.
Child of Two Worlds: Half-wolf, half-dragon.
- The wolf side represents the primal ruler — instinct-driven, tribal, bound by strength, loyalty, and an unspoken code. That’s the part of him that resembles a “barbarian king”: he leads because he’s earned it, because his people recognize his dominance and trust his instincts. There’s honesty in that kind of rule. No politics, no lies, just raw merit and presence.
- The dragon side, by contrast, represents the civilized ruler — calculating, patient, strategic, and often manipulative. That’s the part of him that resembles a “mafia boss”: someone who doesn’t just win through strength but through control, influence, and reputation. He understands hierarchy and how to bend it in his favor.
- The wolf gives him the spine and savagery that keep him grounded and authentic. The dragon gives him the mind and authority that make him untouchable in a world that values power wrapped in civility.
Slasher Smile: His default smile is creepy, but this is subverted because it is his wolf instincts that cause him to smile like this, not his intent. Usually...
Tranquil Fury: Off the battlefield, Freki seems to exist in a near-constant state of calm fury. Gone is the boisterous bruiser of his youth—he's more stoic now, smiles are a rarity, and he carries himself with an air of weighty seriousness. His temper, while not explosive, has a sharp edge, and he’s quicker to slip into a brooding anger than he ever used to be.
Mangst: He rarely speaks about it, but he blames himself for what his parents went through. His mother's decision, having to be raised by Anthony, and then, just as he thought they'd be reunited, Akane died. He keeps the photograph of his parents' wedding and a picture of his birth in a secret spot in a cabinet in his room, wishing he could have had that family, and he works very hard to ensure that his children will never feel the same way.
Interspecies Romance: Since the guy is a giant wolf and his human form is merely a disguise, his relationship with his four wives kind of counts.
Tom the Darklord: The du Cronos Dynasty's Head, a red wolf the size of an African Elephant with blazing, angry-looking amber eyes, is named... Freki. Which is indeed a Meaningful Name (named after a wolf from Norse mythology) but is not exactly... intimidating.
Noble Wolf: His moral compass revolves around protecting, fortifying, and feeding his pack and territory. And, if at all possible, he will try to avoid conflict. However, after ascending as the Head of the du Cronos Dynasty...
Number Two: As the firstborn, he holds the second seat in the du Cronos dynasty, just under Anthony who presides as their patron deity. But in practice, Freki takes charge of day-to-day operations, strengthening and uniting the Dynasty, while Anthony offers external assistance, leading them into battle and representing their highest authority. If you had to put it into modern terms, Anthony is the king, the untouchable icon, the divine authority who leads them into battle and represents their highest power. But Freki? Freki is the Prime Minister—the one who keeps the entire machine running smoothly, ensuring that their influence remains unchallenged. He’s the one in the trenches, making sure every alliance is secured, every rival is kept in check, and every inch of the Dynasty’s dominion stays under their control.
It Can Think: Contrary to what would be expected, Freki does not sacrifice intelligence when getting into his true wolf form. Given this is the form he was born with, Freki actually is more attuned to his body, insticts and nature than in his humanoid form.
We Used to be Friends: You could argue that Freki was always destined to be ruthless. That it was in his blood, in the way he carried himself even as a child, in the way he understood power before most even understood loyalty. But if you had to pinpoint the moment he truly stepped over the threshold—the moment the boy who could’ve been something else was gone for good—it was the day he was forced to break his brothers. His older half-brother, Akane's first son, while reluctant, didn’t make much of a fuss when it came to acknowledging Freki as Tribal Chief. But the twins? They didn't. They had grown up together, side by side, training under the same teachers, laughing in the same halls, learning the ways of the Dynasty together. If anyone knew Freki best, it was them. And that’s exactly why their refusal cut the deepest. They didn’t just resist—they rejected him. In Freki's eyes, not just as their Chief, but as their brother. They made it clear: they would rather fight him to the bitter end than bow to him. And so, he had no choice.
- Freki fought them both, overwhelming them with sheer force, breaking them down piece by piece. He made sure it was decisive, undeniable. Crushing. Because anything less would leave room for doubt, and doubt was weakness. And weakness? It had no place in his Dynasty.
But when it was over, when they lay defeated, gasping for breath, looking up at him with hatred and heartbreak in equal measure—that’s when it really sank in. There was no going back. He had hunted plenty before. He had won battles, crushed enemies, ended lives without a second thought. But this? This wasn’t about victory. It was about severance.
No matter how much he steeled himself, no matter how much he told himself it had to be done, it still hurt. Because family bonds weren’t something you could just rebuild after they’d been shattered. The carefree version of himself—the one who still had brothers, not just subordinates or rivals—died that day. And the Tribal Chief that remained? He was stronger. Wiser. Harsher. But he was never quite the same.
Psychopathic Manchild: Believe it or not, beneath the formidable persona of the Tribal Chief, renowned for his uncompromising demeanor among villains, lurks a man burdened by entitlement and insecurity. He craves the admiration of dragons and wolves who have historically regarded him with fear and disdain since his early days. The psychopathic part lies in his response to feeling undervalued: if he doesn't receive the respect he believes he deserves, he swiftly directs his pent-up frustration and rage toward the nearest target, often with brutal consequences.
Reverse Arm-Fold: Freki purposefully strikes a pose with arms folded behind his back, creating an intimidating facade intended to assert dominance over his adversaries. When you're a 6'6 behemoth, though, it's hard not to look down on most people.
Barbarian King: Freki is basically a textbook barbarian archetype (setting aside the minor detail that he’s a thirteen-foot-tall wolf). He’s direct and forceful on the surface, but sharp and calculating underneath, born from an ancient and powerful lineage. He’s got the full heroic look too, the massive frame, the beard, the fur cape, whole mythic barbarian presence. He almost never uses weapons, preferring his own strength, but when he does pick one up, it’s usually something blunt and crude. That said, he wields it with an unexpected level of finesse, like a Japanese chef in terms of precision, paired with the raw, overwhelming brutality of a monster truck. And all of this is ultimately in service of defending the civilization he rules… even if his feelings toward that civilization are complicated and far from sentimental.
Equal-Opportunity Evil: The du Cronos Dynasty welcomes everyone, regardless of their gender, social status, race, or creed. As long as they initially acknowledge Freki as their Tribal Chief.
Always Someone Better: He is this to Quincey Harrigan. When he went up against Quincey, even with Yuuki (one of V7D’s heavy hitters—backing him up, and even after they nailed Freki with a nasty knee-and-kick combo, the guy still wouldn’t go down. Instead, he flipped the script, calling Yuuki in to make it a full-on 2-on-1 brawl—half of V7D versus the Tribal Chief. At first, Freki had a rough time dealing with Yuuki’s vampiric tricks, but it didn’t take him long to pick up on her style—or, honestly, her lack of one—and turn it against her. By the end of it, he had both Yuuki and Quincey pinned at the same time, barely breaking a sweat, all while locking eyes with Nicoletta and Medea, who were watching from ringside.
- On the other hand, Medea with full access to the chthonic core, is this to Freki. Despite Freki's expertise in technique, drawn from his deep understanding of wolf nature and extensive training as a warrior and hunter, he falls short in comparison to Medea in nearly every other aspect. Whether it's speed, where he barely keeps up, or magical power, where he's outmatched, Medea stands as the mightier contender. Freki's wolf form is able to temporarily bridge the gap in power, though.
- Strategically, Freki’s ability to use deception, gaslighting, emotional manipulation, and propaganda to suppress resistance and maintain control over his allies made him a far more effective leader than Anthony’s rule by fear. Under Anthony and Akane, most followers, were driven more by terror—especially of a repeat of the Southern Realm’s burning—than genuine loyalty. Freki, on the other hand, created a web of economic control and misplaced allegiance, making it nearly impossible for the V7D to recruit trustworthy allies against him. Not that Anthony minds this in the slightest. In fact, he’d be disappointed if Freki didn’t outperform him as the head of the Dynasty. To Anthony, anything less would feel like a failure in how he raised Freki.
Sophisticated as Hell: This dude, he's a real charmer, all fuckin' class in how he dresses and talks, but trust me, he's as goddamn foul-mouthed as Medea.
The Mafia: Once in control, Freki oversaw the du Cronos dynasty's slow transformation from a brutal monarchy into a mafia-like organization, with members of the du Cronos bloodline given prominent roles.
The Rival: He is one to Medea. His initial reaction to the unexpected arrival of The V7D is less than welcoming, and their ensuing encounter bears all the markings of a battle between two apex predators vying for dominance at the top of the food chain.
- Quincey also views him as his Arch-Enemy, but unfortunately for him, Freki hardly even considers him to be a concern. To Freki, there's only one person who can truly rival him - Medea. While Quincey may harbour a fierce animosity towards Freki, it's clear that the feeling isn't mutual.
Shout-Out: Almost everyone, but notably Anthony, refers to Freki by the Red Baron The Big Red Machine, which is also a moniker for the former wrestler Kane. Though Nicoletta didn't miss the opportunity to call him Clifford, the Big Red Dog.
Action Dad: He’s got two wolf sons with his bodyguards-turned-consorts, Maisy and Rhona. Then, by the time Underworld rolls around, he casually mentions having a new 3-year-old son with his wife Megan and drops the bomb that his other wife, Mary, is expecting too! That little bun in the oven? Yeah, they’ll eventually grow up to be none other than Juni from ND10.
Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Freki's transformation into the ferocious "Tribal Chief" was the result of years of verbal aggression and killing attempts from the dragons, fear from the wolves, trauma brought on by the loss of his mother, the heavy burden of providing for his large Dynasty, and being gradually rejected as a potential Eye throughout the course of the story despite his repeated contributions to Laurel. It's all adding fuel to his already intense desire to be "acknowledged," to the point that he'd be willing to control the criminal underworld and the four dragon realms to do it.
Death Glare: He's damn good at giving these, even if he's not even remotely annoyed, he looks like he wants to punch you. And it gets even more terrifying once he actually is furious.
Badass Normal: Freki has no elemental powers or breath weapons as expected from dragons, most of his dragon heritage being biological or mental in nature rather than powerset-wise. He's still considered the World's Strongest Man due to his sheer raw power and might.
Heir Club for Men: Zig-zagged. In the Dynasty, inheritance is handled in a different way. See, they hand down power and status from mothers to sons and fathers to daughters. Freki was appointed as the Tribal Chief of the du Cronos Dynasty since, even though Anthony took the role of Emperor, she took it while in female form, or also because the original alpha of the pack was his mother, Akane. So, by the time of ND10, he's clearly grooming his teenage daughter Juni to one day lead the du Cronos Dynasty.
Polyamory: Is in a happy, healthy, loving, and mutually supportive relationship with two pairs of twin sisters, Maisy and Rhona and Mary and Megan.
Defeat Means Friendship: Maybe the word ''friendship'' is too much, but after his defeat in the Underworld, their rivalry becomes even almost amicable in comparison.
Game-Breaking Injury: In the battle against Medea, Freki was able to keep up even after tanking Medea's Shadow Bloom... until the moment his opponent delivered a bone-shattering blow that fractured one of his legs. The once-powerful wolf was left unable to move with the speed and agility of a predator, relying instead on dragging himself away with his remaining functioning leg. It was in this moment of weakness that Medea capitalized.
Hidden Disdain Reveal: For his younger brothers Ma'at and Nick. Freki carried a serious chip on his shoulder when it came to the twins, never quite forgiving them for what he saw as a major betrayal that almost cost him his title as Tribal Chief. Despite putting on a façade of civility and cordiality for years, the truth was made clear during their brief reunion – Freki's grudge against them was still alive and kicking, and he had no plans to bury no hatchet.
- Despite the news of both twins' deaths, he remained eerily composed. In fact, there are whispers that he ordered Ma'at's hunt for Medea, knowing full well that he would meet his end at her hands. But even as he plotted his own brother's demise, he couldn't help but retrieve the twins' lifeless bodies, determined to give them a proper burial - a grim reminder of the depths of his twisted sense of loyalty.
Large and in Charge: He stands as a mighty leader among dragons, a towering wall of a figure, with a build as solid and unyielding as that of a human fortress.
Asskicking Leads to Leadership: The Unholy Matrimony's only son, and thus the successor to his father's authority in the dynasty. Not only does he bear the weight of leadership, but he also possesses the fearsome strength of a dragon, making him a truly perilous wolf. His size and power are unmatched, a force to be reckoned with by any who dare challenge him.
Meaningless Villain Victory: Downplayed, as it was not completely meaningless. In their epic two-out-of-three falls match, Freki scored the first victory while Medea was in her human form. Medea got her payback in the second round. But the third and final fight was something else — an inferno match. Freki managed to set Medea on fire, technically winning the match. The problem? Medea, now able to shred her body constantly, didn't seem to notice the flames. She just kept wailing on Freki until she broke one of his legs and left him battered and bruised.
- So why isn’t this victory a hollow one for Freki? For starters, it secured his role as the Tribal Chief because, by the rules, Medea being set on fire meant Freki won the match. But the real clincher came after the fight. Despite the brutal showdown, Medea didn’t go for a humiliating final blow. Instead, she extended a hand to help Freki up and, in front of the entire Dynasty, said something none of his two brothers ever dared to say to him:
Medea: ''I acknowledge you, Tribal Chief.''
Royal Harem: Subverted. Freki is married to his four wives Mary, Megan, Maisy and Rhona both in the eyes of the law and the gods. And in fact hates when someone remotely implies they're his harem, given they all hold equal power in different aspects of the Dynasty as his royal consorts.
Long-Lived: As a result of his dragon heritage, his lifespan is many times longer than that of wolves, as he doesn't look to have aged a day during the decade time skip after the Atlantic War. There's no indication of him being immortal; his aging process is just exceptionally slow.
Black Eyes of Evil: His irises are a fiery amber yellow, that practically blaze, set against pitch-black sclera, something he clearly inherited from Akane, since both his mother and brother share those dark, unsettling eyes. .
Evil Sounds Deep: His voice rumbles with a growl so deep and menacing, it'll send shivers down your spine. It's a vocalization that commands immediate attention and respect, serving as a stark reminder that this wolf is a force to be reckoned with. Through this voice, he exudes his power and indomitable might.
Dragon-in-Chief: Though the council of the Dynasty, especially Anthony himself, technically wield the ultimate authority in the family, anyone on the active Dynasty roster must acknowledge Freki du Cronos as the Tribal Chief. Freki made it clear that he was unequivocally the leader for those standing with him during combat, a statement to which the Dynasty acquiesced without hesitation.
Stronger Sibling: Even though he's younger than his maternal half-brother , he's already got some serious strength on his side thanks to his dragon lineage. That, coupled with his colossal size, makes him one formidable force.
- Quite zig-zagged with his paternal half-brothers Ma'at and Nick, who are quite stronger than him due to being not only full-blooded dragons but also sons of a dragon goddess, however, Freki's skill and experience had made him the victor anytime he had sparring contests with them.
Our Werewolves Are Different: He is not a werewolf. He is a gigantic Velkanian wolf who can turn into a human, and he has the ability to revert to that shape both partially and completely.
World's Strongest Man: The Tribal Chief is a name that carries weight—feared, respected, and acknowledged as one of the strongest beings out there. In terms of sheer, brute strength, only pureblood dragons are in the same league as him. And only five individuals—Seraphim, Sokar, Asura, Laurel, and Anthony—can actually put him at a clear disadvantage. And let’s be real, these aren’t just regular fighters. We’re talking an angel, a demon, the fusion of the V7D's captain and vicecaptain, and two full-blown gods. And most of them had these powers bestowed, awakened, or outright stolen. Freki? He fights with nothing but the body he was born with, sharpened through years of unforgiving discipline, relentless battles, and an iron will that refuses to break. No divine blessings. No supernatural hacks. Just pure, primal dominance. Some feats of his strength include:
He was shot in the side of the head at near point-blank range with one of Whisper’s Conqueror Bullets (which, by then, hit with the force of a military-grade shotgun). And even after that, he still had enough strength to knock Nicoletta off her feet and stay conscious for almost five minutes!
Freki was able to pierce Ayuuki’s back with his bare claws, burrow through her muscle and ribcage, and rips out her heart. Ayuuki is twice as strong and durable compared to Miyuki! It's the vampiric equivalent of grabbing a living suit of regenerating armor, punching through it barehanded, and ripping the core reactor out before it can explode or fix itself.
Using his real wolf form, he was able to resist Medea's Shadow Bloom and was barely moved. To put it in perspective: he was standing at ground zero of a gravitational detonation meant to annihilate darkness itself, an explosion spanning the radius of a small city. His body was shattered, skin torn, organs barely functioning... and yet, not a single paw budged.
During the Atlantic War, he used his real form to stomp on Quincey's body and destroyed his spinal cord. The kicker? Quincey was blessed by Asura and given a body with strength and resilience on dragon territory. Wanna compare? A trained elephant can apply ~9,000–10,000 lbs of force on a single foot. Freki was able to do that with purpose-built predator muscle, not just mass.
He wanted to one-up himself during the Atlantic War, so when Okeanus lowers his colossal head to crush Anthony. At that moment, Freki leaps, bites down on Okeanus’ jaw hinge, and twists violently, causing a chain reaction of dislocation in a small segment of Okeanus’ jaw.
And that’s all before Medea turns him into a fucking hellhound.
Dominant Species Genes: Despite the potential for dragons to crossbreed with a wide array of species, their distinctive features remain predominant. According to Anthony, if a human were to produce offspring with a dragon, that child would essentially grow up to closely resemble a pureblooded dragon upon reaching full adulthood. Cases similar to Freki's are exceptionally uncommon, where Anthony's dragon DNA was somehow tempered by Akane's wolf DNA, although Freki retains the size, eyes, fangs, and claws characteristic of a dragon.
- Another significant example is with Juni, Freki's daughter. Despite her lineage as the child of a wolf and a human, she possesses the ability to undergo a complete transformation into a she-wolf. Moreover, even in her human form, distinct wolf features remain.
