Hello! Thanks for your submission!
I enjoyed creating a dynamic between Kohmir and Honovi :) I hope you like it too!
—————

“ Wake up raven man, wake up with me and the bees that you eat, the flowers so sweet, wake up raven man and take my hand, in hand with you!”

Kohmir, hands tightening around the steering wheel, gritted his teeth. “ Another peep out of you and I’ll pop you.”

Honovi smirked at him through the rearview mirror, and leaned back in his seat. Cuffed hands resting between his legs.

“ Oh, mr raven man! Sleep with me tonight and bring me a bee for my aching hands! Leave flowers at my door and come in with your beak first!” Honovi sang terribly loud, his voice cracking with every high note he forced from his throat. Honovi tapped his feet along with the beat in his head and drummed a finger against his knee.

“ Wake up raven man, be my baby, mr raven man-“

Kohmir, sitting in fuming silence, unexpectedly slammed on the breaks. The bags and papers he kept in his passenger seat went flying onto the floorboards, but Kohmir paid no mind and hurriedly turned around in his seat to glare at the prisoner. “ Stop. Fucking. Singing! The words don’t even make sense!”

Honovi moaned in response. “ Bitch….You’ll pay for that…” Shakily, he pushed himself up and stared back at Kohmir with a bloody smirk.
“ I’m already thinking about the next verse.”

Kohmir’s eyes widened slightly. He made a pained hissing noise. “ Jesus Christ, your fucking nose.”

Honovi frowned, a panicked look growing his eyes. “ What…what happened to my nose?”

Having not been paying attention, the sudden jerk of the truck had sent Honovi tumbling out of his seat. The criminal landed nose first onto the ridged plastic flooring of the vehicle. His nose now bent at an awkward angle.

The criminal reaches up to the blood dripping over his lips, and nearly gags in pain as his knuckle brushes the tip of his nose.
“ Holy shit man! You broke my nose!” Honovi pointed an accusing bloody finger at Kohmir.

The soldier mocked a flabbergast look. “ What?? No I fucking didn’t!” He sputtered with a smirk. “ The floorboard did!”

Honovi, ignoring the visible shakiness of his body, stood up in the cramped space he was enclosed in and smeared a dirty finger against the glass separating them.
“ But if you hadn’t been driving like an absolute fucking bitch then I would have never fallen over!”

Kohmir, feeling his blood pressure rising, shook his head erratically. “ Well, if you hadn’t fucking tried to kill that guy in North End then you would of never been in this situation in the first place!”

Honovi rolled his eyes at Kohmir’s outburst. “ You weren’t there! He tried to kill me first!” As Honovi spit back a response, blood splattered against the glass. “ Why didn’t you arrest him? Huh?”

Kohmir felt a headache forming.
“ Because I was too busy trying to get your ass In the van!” Kohmir replied, turning back around to face the road. “ If you just had complied, then I would have been able to reunite you and your buddy back there but, no! You let him go!”

Honovi growled and spit at the glass. “ Fuck you!” A thud vibrated against Kohmir’s back, the sound of Honovi huffing to his seat following it.

The solidier sighed calmly and released his tight grip on the wheel to stretch out his fingers. “ You better not have chipped my glass.”

He received a long beat of silence in return.

Kohmir firmly nodded. He set his attention back to driving, but it wasn’t until a few more minutes into their journey that Honovi broke the silence.

“ That guy was my brother.”

Kohmir nearly slammed on the breaks again. He starred at Honovi’s crumpled figure in the mirror with a ludicrous look.
“ Your what? Brother??”

Honovi’s broken nose was beginning to throb. He cupped his hands around it and squinted his eyes.

“ Jesus-…yeah..that was my brother.”

Kohmir made a noise of confusion. “ And you tried to kill him, why?”

The prisoner tapped at his broken nose. “ He killed the people I loved.”

Kohmir slapped the steering wheel in amusement. “ What? Your brothers a murderer too? The fuck did your parents do to you kids when y’all were younger?”

Honovi didn’t even crack a smirk at Kohmir’s banter. “ They died in a fire…that my brother started.”

Kohmir choked on his laughter. “ How is that possible?” The sight of the compound was coming into view, and Kohmir blindly searched for his identification that had fallen during his unexpected stop. “ Wouldn’t he of been like…seven?”

“ How do you know that?”

Kohmir shrugged. “ I read your file.” He turned back to the man and smirked. “ I saw you had a knack for making flower crowns. Would love it if you made a few for my girl.”

Honovi threw a stray pair of cuffs at the glass with a growl. “ Shut the fuck up…But, it doesn’t matter what age he was! All I know is that his actions killed them! And that it’s my job to avenge them!”

Kohmir whistled jokingly. “ So you’ve got the whole ‘Batman’ theme going on, don’t you?” Kohmir shook his head as his fingers inched closer to the plastic ID. “ Y’know, you’re not the first guy to say he murders for vengeance, right? You’re not special.”

Honovi went quiet at that, his mind at a pause. He lowered his head between hunched shoulders and seemed to intensely study the bloody spot where he fell.

‘ That’s gonna be a bitch to clean.’ Kohmir thought.

Honovi’s hands curled into fists on his knees.

“ Look…I know it’s a lazy villain arch or whatever, but I loved my parents… I thought they were the moon and the sun of my life…” Honovi’s bottom lip trembled. “ And when they died…I lost everything…” His choked confession created an uncomfortable air around Kohmir, but he did not shy away. Just yet.

Honovi turned teary eyed towards Kohmir. “ And I loved my brother, too. He was my rock…my protector…but then I learned what he did.” With every word Honovi grew more hostile and kicked at the ground. “ And I fucking hate him for it! I hate him! I fucking want to rip his guts out and watch as the light leaves his eyes!”

Kohmir pulled himself away from Honovi and went back to watching the road.
“ I’m gonna have to ask you to calm down, Bruce boy.”

Honovi let his mouth slacken. He gave the soldier a lazy smile and dropped down to his knees.

“ You know what? I think I feel another verse coming on!”

Honovi’s cheerful voice forced Kohmir to grumble.

“Oh god, please, no-“

“ Oooh, raven man, pluck out my eyes with your bees, Raven man, deafen my ears with flowers and leave the room beak first!” Honovi sang this verse with a maniacal giggle. He inched closer to the glass until his broken nose was just slightly pressed up against it.

Kohmir’s neck turned warm. “ Back the fuck up man. You’re smudging the glass.”

The bloody man shrugged his shoulders. “ Don’t come again mr Raven man…Your feathers make me sneeze!”

Kohmir squinted, a passive frown on his face. “ You’re a fucking nut case…you know that?” He slowed the car as the gates came into view and rolled down his window. “ I hope that nose stays crooked.”

Another soldier came up to the open window. Kohmir put a friendly smile on his face and waved to the young man.

“ Just bringing in another one. Wonderful day we are having, huh?”

The soldier kept quiet, but acknowledged Kohmir’s conversation with a smile. He gave a quick scan of Kohmir’s ID and van before waving them on. The gates to the compound opening seconds after.

Honovi smiled widely when making eye contact with the unknown soldier and dragged his bloody finger down the glass.
“ Give me a Rose!”

The young soldier stood unfazed, but clutched the holster of his gun as the car drove by.

Kohmir shook his head. “ Sorry about him. He’s a little…y’know.” the soldier gave the hand motion of crazy and then slapped the side of his truck. “ But don’t worry! This baby ‘ill keep him nice and contained. So long solider! Have a good one!” He pulled of with a controlled speed, but when passing the gates took off in a hurry. Ready to get as fast away as he could from that awkward encounter.

Once the young soldiers eyes were out of view, Kohmir dropped his polite smile and rolled up the window.
“ Don’t do that again. He’s new and trigger happy.”

Honovi fluttered his eyes and slumped back in defeat at Kohmir’s lame reactions.” Uhuh, aye aye capin’” Honovi snarked, giving a fake salute.
“ I’ll behave like the good little boy I am!”

Without warning, Kohmir quickly slammed on and off the breaks. He held back a smile at the sound of Honovi hitting the floor.

“ Oh, fuck!”

“ Bro, the floor fixed my fucking nose!”

Kohmir shook his head. “ Nuhuh, I fixed your nose!”

“ No! The floor did! You pumping the breaks didn’t do shit!”

“ Well it sure did break it the first time didn’t it??”

Honovi flashed Kohmir the finger. “ Fuck you!”

Kohmir held back a laugh and slapped the dashboard.
“ You sure are a hoot! I just know the boys are gonna have a fun time with you.”

Honovi crossed his arms with a pout. “ I’ll give them a fucking field day if I have too…”

The soldier raised a brow and fixed the rear view mirror. His honey eyes watching Honovi pick at the blood on his face with a soft expression. “ Uhuh…I bet you will and..and don’t worry about your brother. I’m sure we’ll have him in winthin a few days.”

Honovi’s mouth twitched upwards. “ Golly, sarge! That’s just the best news I’ve gotten all day!.. Can’t wait to rot in my cell for half a century.”

Kohmir pursed his lips. “ How do you know you’ll be waiting that long? What if he gets caught tomorrow?” He questioned, confused by Honovi’s flat response.
“ You should put more faith in my force, y’know? We’re not all hopeless like that gate keeper back there.”

Honovi turned his back to him “ How long do you think I’ve been looking for him, my brother?” His tone was sharp. “ It took me nearly seven years to figure out which state he…fucked off to…and three months to track down his apartment.”

“ And now, since he knows I’ve found him, he’s gonna fuck off to some other state- possibly some other country- and I’ll never fucking get him!” Honovi’s anger was nothing but a pitiful sight of defeat.
He punched the metal wall of the truck with a bloody knuckle. “ So, yeah, I doubt you’d guys would ever find him again…he’s gone.”

Kohmir licked his lips at the harsh confession. Of course, their force was full of smart and strong individuals but…Kohmir had actually read Honovi’s file.
He was not some ‘every day’ criminal. He was a psychopathic genius…a dramatic idealist…a goddamn adrenaline junkie.

It had nearly taken Kohmir, by himself, hours until Honovi was finally apprehended…and he would never had gotten him in the first place hadn’t been for that crazy nuts brother.

Maybe they would never catch him…?

“ Damnit…” Kohmir swore, rubbing away the headache at his temple. “ Quite the pickle we’re in right now.”

Honovi hummed. “ Yeah…a disgusting trash ass pickle with brown spots.” Honovi’s shoulders moved while his hands fiddled out of Kohmir’s sight, but the soldier payed no mind.
(If Honovi were trying to escape the cuffs it would induce an electric shock anyway.)

Kohmir drove a ways down the path In silence before pulling the van to a stop and jumping out with a spring in his step. He groaned loudly while stretching out his cramped limbs and did a few back bends before snatching the car keys.
Slamming a fist against the side of the door, Kohmir let out a loud whoop. “ Let’s get up and get rolling, partner! You’ve got a date with a cell!”

Honovi’s squinted a growing face greeted Kohmir as the two truck doors swung open. His face was mostly clear of blood, but a thin trail of it still clung to the skin beneath his nose.

The taller man faked a yawn. “ Morning already , dear? Why didn’t you wake me when the birds started singing?” Honovi’s fake British accent rumbled a chuckle in Kohmir’s chest.
He watched as Honovi jumped down from the car without assistance and stood by his side. Admiring the surroundings with an exaggerated grin.

“ It is just simply a wonderful day to spend within the confines of a piss smelling cell.” Honovi took a deep breath of air. “ Oh, how I will miss the freshness of mother nature’s perfume!”

Kohmir rolled his eyes at Honovi’s dramatics. He gave the prisoner a harsh shove forward and gripped at Honovi’s elbow. Making sure he wasn’t going to run off.

“ You’ll get your outside time. Don’t you worry.” Kohmir said, soothing Honovi with a playful pat on the back. “ You just gotta be a good boy, right?” Using the joke Honovi had made from early, the smug man was retaliated with a elbow to the side.

“ Don’t ever call me that again. Only I am allowed to call myself that.” Honovi said sternly, his chin held high.

Kohmir, still rubbing at his side, pushed Honovi forward. “ Why’s that? Is it because you need to be validated like a dog to act accordingly?”

The horrified look on Honovi’s face at Kohmir’s words was enough to send the soldier into a fit of silent giggling. He covered his face with a rough hand and turned as Honovi pounded on his back.

“ A dog? You compare me to a fucking dog?! You’re really treading on some thin fucking ice!”

Kohmir laughed as he evaded Honovi’s last punch. “ I was just connecting the dots. It’s not my fault you act like a dog.”

Honovi gasped. “ I certainly do not act like a dog! I’m a fucking man bitch!”

“ Okay, you see that? No one who acts like a man would say that.” Kohmir pointed at Honovi nonchalantly as the guards made to take him away approached them.” Which just proves to me that you are, in fact, a goddamn dog.”

“ A goddamn dog?” Honovi questioned, scratching at his faces

Kohmir nodded. “ Goddamn dog.”

Honovi smirked as Kohmir stood back to watch the guards place another pair of cuffs on him.” You sure are a bitch…will I ever see you again?”

Kohmir picked at his nails. “ Probably. I am in charge of your case.”

Honovi smiled. “ Then I guess I’ll plenty of time to sing to you then?”

The guards standing before the two starred at Kohmir in question.

The soldier rubbed a hand down his face with a growl.” I hate you…” Kohmir slapped Honovi’s back and, while looking at the guards, he pointed to Honovi with a snarl.

“ If this kookoo starts singing, I give you full permission to slice his tongue off.”

Honovi snickered at the guards horrified expressions. “ You need to chill, bro. They look kind scared.”

Kohmir sniffed. “ Well, they should be. They’ll be guarding your cell tonight.” He took a step back as the guards began to cart Honovi off to his cell.

The prisoner perked up. “ Even better! I’ll have a true audience to witness my unnoticed talent! You tasteless bitch!”

Kohmir watched as Honovi hoped along with the guards and shook his head when they were out of sight.
“ He’s gonna be a pain in the ass…I just know it.”
