VOYAGERS

Description - How would you describe VOYAGERS?

Earth, year 2195. Our planet has been introduced to many great things in the last century and a half, including space travel. But it has taken a tentative detour from the efforts towards pollution, and world peace. The recently instituted Military Training Program (MTP) for Civilians has become a nationally mandated course in middle-class America. All children under the age of twenty-one without legal guardians or acceptable living conditions are forced into the program. In 2102 Life on neighboring planets was discovered, but none have responded to a peace treaty or a reassured safe-landing and so far none have shown any signs of aggression. Earth has reached desperate times, and drastically intense measures have been taken. The long-ago Nuclear World War IV has wiped out half the planet’s population and exhausted global funds to nearly nothing. After twelve years of war, a peace summit was finally held, and each country agreed to fifty years of solitary confinement from each other. Old Canada, Old South America, and most of Old Asia exist as barren wastelands -contaminated with nuclear residue and the bones of old buildings that tell the sad story of a once-thriving people. Most countries, including half of China and all smaller countries, have been taken over by larger global superpowers. There were once one hundred and ninety-five countries in the world, now there are only seven: The New Republic, (which dominates North America, China, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Cuba, Germany, and England (which pointed missiles in every direction and warned "stay back"). Some countries have even been demolished completely. The powerful international tension still remains.
