Magic is widely used (and legal) in the story's setting. However, illusion magic is strictly banned along with "single-pathway" magic. Classes at magic-based schools are limited. Typically (or perhaps always) 2 classes per magic type. The mastering of a particular magic is basically forbidden because many people would become far too powerful.

NOT modern. Use of carriages, oil lamps, swords & bows in battle. NO electricity/not electrical items!
