Originally, the land Solder was built upon was a luscious forest. An intense fire burned the entire forest to the ground, creating what is known today as the Ash Fields.
The commander of Solder works the populace and forces them to clear these fields, so that food may be grown there. The ground is extremely fertile, but must be cleared in order to grow more and more food. Some of this process is unnecessary, but rather a means for the commander to keep the citizens under an iron fist.
