Elf

Elves are a race of humanoids, looking different from humans only in the details; slightly more angular eyes, elongated ears, and overall sharper facial features.

Unlike humans, however, elves adapt physically to their environments. Wood Elves tend to be more slender, more adjusted to the nomadic hunting life their kind normally lives. Drow are affected by living underground, their grey skin and white hair a result of living in subterranean environments. The list goes on.

It is even known that elves can change if they move. For example, some Drow lack the sunlight sensitivity of their forebears if they were born or spent most of their lives above ground, or are born from such parents, and some Sea Elves can lose their innate ability to speak with marine life if they spend too much time away from the sea or if they were born inland.

This rapid process of adaptation can be both a blessing and a curse, however, and many elves settle where their adaptations allow and find it difficult to leave for long periods. As with any species there are always exceptions and some can find something in living a more nomadic lifestyle or otherwise going on their own, but they are the rare exception.
