Codex

Codex is a race of androids created for the sole purpose of gathering knowledge. Their origins are unknown, even to themselves.
Each unit is created unique, in appearance and specifications, as well as a question that unit must answer. These questions can range from how a specific place or species governs to how a religious belief system is applied. Some require the unit to learn about history, while others require the unit to learn about current events and how they are affecting the environment. The attributes of each unit are effected by what question they are intending to answer. They can be created to look like a particular species to learn about them, or even to learn about how they are treated among others. Some are created with emotions to try to empathize with certain cultures, and others created with no emotions to create an objective view of the knowledge. There can be multiple units answering the same question, to provide as much knowledge as possible from multiple sources.
