Astral Projection

While some high level spellcasters can use a spell of the same name, some people are naturally born with this ability.

Unfortunately many who can naturally project themselves into the Astral Plane do not survive into adulthood. They do not understand its dangers, and in turn do not properly protect themselves from being untethered from their bodies.

Many dangers lurk in the Astral, and many entities seek life. They will destroy tethers in order to consume the soul and possess the physical body, but such possessions do not last for long. A dead soul cannot be contained in a living body and will cause it to physically rot from the inside out until there is nothing left.

Those who are lucky enough to survive into adulthood often become guides and advisors to powerful individuals as their abilities are considered useful. But such jobs are often gilded cages, a life of luxury but also of bound servitude to those who 'own' them.
