Cursing

Cursing is a type of magic meant to bring misfortune upon others; this can range from simple bad luck all the way up to causing death.

Beyond that, no two curses are alike as every curse is shaped by the practitioner. Different cultures may use different ingredients, worship of different deities can result in different words being spoken to enact the curse, and even the intention of the curse itself.

Curses can be hard to break. If the original caster did not want it to be broken and was powerful enough it could even be impossible to break a curse, even if thousands of years have passed since it was put in place.

Thankfully, such curses are few and far between. Most can be broken by a more powerful spellcaster, by simply waiting until the curse has run its course, or by fulfilling whatever lesson the curse was attempting to teach, among other methods.

Each one must be approached as an individual, and finding out who placed the curse, why, and under what conditions are paramount to dispelling it safely.
