Semblance

The manifestation of a person's soul-or Aura. Semblances vary wildly from person to person, but generally reflect the welder's personality. An energetic Huntress might unlock super speed, while an emotionless logician might be able to excel as a human lie detector. That said, some Semblances are hereditary or are a derivative of one or more parents' Semblances.

The visual effects of Semblances vary from person to person, but a common manifestation is a glow the color of a person's Aura around the person or on a particular area of the body such as eyes, ears, or hands.

This varies depending of the Semblance type, but the possibilities range from increased mobility and other physical enhancements, compatibility with various Dust types, changing the properties of an object or area, or evoking various elements. Semblances give their users versatility and an extra edge in either combat or social encounters.

Every time a person uses their Semblance, it eats at their Aura. Meaning that even if a person were to take no physical blows during a combat encounter, use of their Semblance would still deplete their Aura. In addition, some Semblances can have negative effects on their users, especially if they're passive and unable to be fully 'turned off'.
