Aether

Aether is considered to be the residual energy left over from the creation of the universe. It can be harnessed and bent to the user's will with an elevated state of mind achieved by prolonged practice and guided meditation.

The variant of Aether a user can cast is determined by the contents of their spirit. All sentient beings are capable of Aether use, but without a honed spirit, they are barred from its true power.

Aether can vary in presentation and hue depending on the element called forth by its user.

Aether is pulled directly from a user's spiritual energy. Excessive use will leave the user physically and mentally exhausted and bar the user from any further command of this power until they've had a sufficient chance to rest.

To practice Aether, one must have a solid base understanding of how the power operates as well as a honed, focused mind.

Most users of Aether are limited by the extent of their body and spirit. They can vary in skill levels and power.

Those who have exceeded these limitations either by divine birth or elevation of their mortal spirit that are able to draw power directly from the universe itself or their own lifeforces to wield immensely powerful, world altering abilities. These beings are known simply as Empyreans.
