Spyglass
Artifact
The spyglass appears as a compact cylinder no more than four inches long, made of a softly burnished bronze always warm to the touch, as though it just left someone’s hand. It is solid; it has heft; it is comfortable to hold. When the clever catches are undone, it extends to a full length of just over a foot; three golden rings encircle the barrel, one for each telescoping segment. There is a fine crystal lens on either side, and on the smallest segment, only revealed when the spyglass is extended, is a golden inlay of a stylized sun above a compass rose.
The spyglass is an artifact which passed through many hands before it reached its current holder. It seeks out those who are restless, who desire knowledge and truth, or who would risk anything to see what lies beyond the horizon.
