Amphana

A magical blue flower

The amphana flower once grew the world over, but over harvesting for its magical properties led to its near extinction. Only the dwarves had the sense to try to preserve them, the vast fields surrounding their capitol city of Halberton now the only remaining live specimens of this flower.

This was done with good reason, however, as the plants are indeed quite special. For those with magical abilities the flowers seem to be able to restore this magical essence, allowing them greater spellcasting abilities in general as well as an increased rate of recovery.

Knowing this the dwarves guard the remaining population quite fiercely. Anyone attempting to harvest the flowers without permission is dealt with very harshly, and they have many measures in place to help protect what they have left. Some are harvested any, of course, as is necessary to keep a population healthy and a few people who study magic or alchemy or similar subjects are allowed to harvest samples under supervision. Most of what's harvested are made into potions exported to Tavnoin in exchange for great profit to the dwarves. What the city and its Sovereign use the potions for is a mystery, however.
