Secrets. The truths we keep from others for any number of reasons, but they always haunt us.

Secrets are the skeletons in our closets. The quiet resentment we refuse to speak out loud. Turning away and pretending not to notice something.

Secrets lurk in the shadows. Quiet, hunkered down until they can't be contained anymore and then they are too much. Overwhelming, destructive.

As they say, two people can keep a secret...if one is dead.
