Moose

Moose are large, four legged beasts with massive antlers that live in cold environments. They are untamable; wildly territorial and unafraid to attack with the aforementioned antlers at anything they think is a threat. Potential threats can include tree branches shaking too hard in the wind, other animals minding their own business that happen to wander too close, and a personal favorite of many nature observers - their own hoofprints.

Their sheer size and brute strength makes them quite dangerous, on top of the fact that they can outrun most predatory animals like wolves and bears. This is what makes them unfit candidates for domestication, and what few have tried have met with disaster as even the young are too strong and willful to be contained and don't seem to take well to being penned up in the way domestication requires for their safety.

Moose are also not often hunted, though if one can come across a body, or one that's been left behind to die and give it a swift end, there is much to be harvested from them; fat, meat, and pelts all have their use and the antlers make fantastic decorations and bone tools. Those lucky enough to find such a carcass often make good money selling what's usable, enough money to drive some to try active hunting only to meet their end doing so.
