Achela

In the ocean below sits the evidence that Achela once was a land mass like any other, yet now it and several smaller islands float high above the western part of the world. No one is quite sure what caused this, and the stories are as varied as the thousands of years that separate the event from the modern day.

All everyone knows is that it floats, and it's home to those who have been touched by the fey or other magical powers. Those who lack this requirement are not protected when they enter the general airspace around Achela and seem to crumple in on themselves before dying of the obviously unsurvivable injuries.

To those that call the place home this is a 'trial' to prove one's worthiness, so they see no reason to research what causes this or give anyone else permission to.
