James was born as the middle child in their home country of Su-Riteniai, with a elder sister with a gap of 9 years named Lilac, and a baby sister named Rose.

The Faizen family left their homecountry of Su-Riteniai due to worsening social/political issues. They settled in the city of Aysanne of Qereni, without much of anything. Lilac began to pursue college and had left home, and the other two kids remained with their parents.

When James was 10, he and his little sister and parents were caught in a fatal wreck on the highway. Their father, the driver, dead on impact, the sister and mother in critical condition, the sister, only a toddler, dead on arrival, and the mother on life support for a few days but with no recovery. James recovered, but was now alone with no older relatives. He was put into foster care for a month, and his older sister, only 19, fought for custody of him. She got it, and for the next 5 years they'd live together, moving to the small yet affordable town of Oaken Stream, Lilac just barely able to make ends meet. Despite this, she always took life on with a smile, never showing her hardships to her struggling brother. This created a gap between them, as they both mourned very differently. James believing his elder sister to be uncaring of their parents death and unsympathetic to his suffering, and Lilac too overwhelmed with surviving to let herself mourn. James eventually began to view hid sister as an unmoving figure, unable to be swayed by anything, more of a parental figure than a sibling anymore.

He began to self medicate, any means necessary, drugs, alcohol, self harm, finding community within the Oaken Stream youth. A gang in reformation known as Martyr, which provided a safe space for estranged and struggling teens, while additionally providing contraband substances.
