Celeste grew up loved, but not accompanied. With her parents constantly working, it wasn't unusual that she was alone. Many teachers worried she'd become a loner or a hermit, but she showed that she was very friendly and kind. Around the time most boys decide that girls have cooties, Celeste opted to avoid boys as well; if she were going to be excluded and judged for something that wasn't even real, she didn't want to waste her time. When she became a middle schooler, her family moved to a different city. The school closest to her house was an all boys school, so instead she went to the farther away public school.

There, she met Helen Otis. She befriended him after chasing off some bullies with a bundle of text books. While she was aware that there was a good chance that Helen only became friends with her because she was strong enough to defend him, she was still happy to call him her friend. During her last year of middle school, her parents transferred her to an art school after it was recommended by both the school staff and an art merchant who saw a piece she had done. It wasn't long after that Celeste heard about the death of 17 of her school mates, and how it was said that Helen was the culprit. Despite her efforts, Helen either couldn't or refused to get back to her about the topic.

After graduating high school, Celeste became a singer and model. While she preferred to be a digital artist, she knew that singing and modelling would keep food on the table. She dyed the underside of her hair black as a way to pay homage to the friendship she treasured with Helen, though never really explained it to others. It wouldn't be too long into her career that she would abruptly be thrust back into the life of her middle school best friend.
