Trained by a local Huntsman Guild in the ways of combat from the age of 10.
Raised on the very edges of town by a single mother, Nix tried her best to ignore the fact they were struggling. Not poor, but not rich, either. Just on the very edge of not having enough to eat.
An only child, Nix explored quite a bit in the nearby forest. She formed friendships with the local kids, playing hide-and-seek among the trees, practicing their ‘fighting’ with random sticks, alternating between being Grimm and Huntsman. It was all in good fun - no one was ever hurt, and they went home at sunset per their parents’ request.
Being on a fringe town, night brought fear of what lurked in the very same woods. Fear wrought despair, despair welcomed Grimm. Attacks weren’t very common, and when attacks occurred, they were swiftly dealt with. But one night, Nix’s 10th birthday, was different.
The Grimm attacked before they were ready, the only on-guard Huntsman drunk off his tits at the small family-run tavern. Houses were broken into by hungry Beowolves, trampled by angry Ursa seeking a meal.
It was over as quickly as it had started, her home a pile of broken rubble and bodies. Among the 17 victims...her mother. Nix, though, was unscathed. Seemingly ignored by monsters that were known to kill indiscriminately. So why had she been spared?
It was a question that would burn at her for a year, longer, as the Guild descended on the town in an effort to rebuild. Nix was taken in, as a kind gesture. She had no one, and she spent 9 years of her life acting as the Guild's mascot, of sorts. Her jobs were basic busy work - clean, cook, the like. What free time Nix had was spent in the tutelage of a skilled Huntress, learning the ways of combat, stealth, and Grimm. It was with her guidance did Nix awaken her Aura, and with it, her Semblance. That same Huntress encouraged Nix to seek an education with Beacon, not Haven Academy, for reasons that are still unclear.

The primary use is reach; Nix uses the weight of the knives to anchor foes, attack from a distance, and uses the chains to block off paths if used correctly. When in handgun form, Nix uses the shots to target weak spots - eyes, organs, and so on. If neither form is viable, she wraps the chains over her arms and opts to fight close-up, hand-to-hand. Her ideal form is savate and she’s familiar with a number of grappling techniques.

Flawlessly recreating the abilities and skills of Grimm she’s defeated, and using them effectively as the Grimm she's copying. Current abilities include Full Beowulf and Full Ursa cloak, though Nix rarely utilizes the full power. In order to learn new abilities, Nix needs to land the killing blow. Being near a Grimm as it's defeated does not "transmit" the monster's abilities.

The longer Nix stays cloaked, the harder it is for her to fight back for control. Additionally, the Semblance can stay active even if her Aura is depleted, but it instead feeds directly on her life force and permanently reduces her maximum Aura pool, provided she survives.
