Blackriver is a large, black Maine Coon. He has wispy fur and his pelt is the color of ravens according to his family. Blackriver has a slightly darker underbelly, muzzle, paws, tail tip, and ear tips. His nose is a pale purple and his inner ears also happen to be purple. Blackriver has bright, flashing amber eyes.

Being in the Wind Colony, Blackriver is recognizable since most Wind Colony cats aren't dark colors. He has bright, flashing amber eyes. Other than that, Blackriver appears to be the average cat and is slightly hard to identify in a crowd.
Blackriver formerly treated everyone as if they were his old, good friends. He was usually very friendly with strangers and relaxed. Blackriver went with the flow. Afterward, he became paranoid and nervous, trying to distance himself from suspicious-looking cats.
Blackriver believes the Wind Colony regrets taking him in and wishes to prove to them he's useful. He also wants to keep his sister Sagepaw safe since he feels he's responsible for her. Blackriver is being haunted by g h o s t s so he's trying to get rid of them. He has no idea why they're haunting him, but Blackriver sure doesn't appreciate them.
Before the incident, Blackriver was laid back, relaxed, and lax. He went with the flow and was very easy to get along with, given his calm aura. The Maine Coon was quick to forgive and took things lightly, sometimes creating a joke or two when he was in a good mood. After the incident, Blackriver became paranoid and anxious, often being suspicious of everyone. He tried to put a distance between himself and his colony members and kept a stick to keep track of his odd dreams. Blackriver gets upset easily and can get startled easily.
Blackriver has trouble sleeping, as well as being easily scared. He cuts off ties with other cats and gets nightmares about the incident. The cat is awful with fighting and lets his instincts take over whenever he starts to panic.
Blackriver greatly dislikes short-furred cats, healers, forest fires, and dogs.
Blackriver is a strong swimmer and can fight through currents. He is also considerably fast (how else would he be in the Wind Colony), given he managed to outrun some of the younger warriors. Blackriver is a skilled tracker and can track down almost all animals, as well as identify their tracks.
Blackriver sometimes sits by the shore silently watching the lake. Other times, he tracks down animals and scratch sticks.
Blackriver is lawful neutral. He's just trying to follow the rules but sadly failing, due to his misunderstanding of the Warrior Code. Some of the rules also don't sit well with him.
Blackriver may have PTSD.

Before he was accepted into the colonies, Blackriver picked up skills from his mother by watching her. Blackriver was mentored by Silverclaw, but he also learned details about the colonies from Furzewhisker.
Blackriver was born to a loner family. There, he was known as "Oriole." He never knew his father, as his father had left him and his mother. Oriole sometimes tagged along with his mother whenever she went out on a hunting mission. For mysterious reasons, Oriole never found out about his mother's name or history, as the subject made her uncomfortable.
Eventually, Starling was born and Oriole instantly felt jealous of her due to him believing she stole his mother's attention. When Oriole was about 5 moons old, a dog chased him and his family while they were traveling. The family eventually hid in a shed. However, lightning struck a little while after and the shed lit on fire. Oriole's mother managed to get her offspring out of the shed, but not before a piece of flaming wood fell on her.
Terrified, Oriole and Starling fled. The two stuck together, refusing to leave each other. Oriole began to have nightmares about the dog and the shed incident. They eventually stumbled into the Wind Colony's territory, in which they came face to face with a Wind Colony patrol. A light grey cat with a mask inquired Oriole's name and business. Scared as he was, Oriole suddenly rammed himself into the cat, yelling at Starling to run. Starling refused to leave Oriole and she slashed at the other patrol members.
It was a surprise the patrol didn't try to kill them... Oriole fled, along with Starling. Later, leaf-bare came and the two started to starve. Oriole determined the best solution was to find the Wind Colony. They did and joined their colony as Blackpaw and Sagekit. Blackpaw had a difficult time adjusting to his new life, along with his sister. Eventually, he became Blackriver. He was still struggling to recover when ghosts started to appear. It appears as if he could see ghosts... Blackriver didn't want to tell anyone and distrusted the healers since he thought the healers knew Blackriver could see the wailing ghosts.
Adding on to his problems, Fallowkit and Silkkit was born. Blackriver didn't care too much about the kits until Silkkit became sick and ended up with paralyzed hind legs. The leader, Guststar, was planning to let Silkkit either become a healer or an elder. Blackriver saw this as an unfair decision and stuck up for him, protesting they don't know if Silkkit really couldn't carry out the duties as a warrior and it was worth a try.
Sagepaw, Furzewhisker, and Moorrunner stepped in, agreeing with Blackriver. Silverclaw then proceeded to snap at Blackriver to train the kit if he were going to stick up for him. It was only meant as a rude comment but turns out the entire colony agreed. Guststar assigned Silkkit to Blackriver.
Blackriver doesn't have any pets.
"Starling! Run! I'll hold them off!"
"What do you want from me? I'm just trying to live a normal life! Go away!"
"That's completely unfair! We don't even know if Silkkit can't carry out the duties of a warrior. Why? We haven't tried! It's worth a shot anyway."

Blackriver can see ghosts. They usually appear as wailing cats.
He also doubts what his mother told him, as he has faint memories of a silvery male cat gently pushing him into the reeds.

Warrior of the Wind Colony, future mentor to Silkkit.
His mother - Oriole (AKA Blackriver) recalls his mother as "kind, caring, and the best mother." He often tagged along with his mother whenever she went out for hunting missions. Oriole looked up to his mother and asked her unanswerable questions, much to his mother's discomfort (such as her name). This didn't stop Oriole's mother from caring for him. Oriole was devastated when his mother died in a fire. He misses her terribly but he gets nightmares, in which her half-rotted corpse would rise from the fire, reaching for him while shouting "Why did you do anything?"
Sagepaw - At first, Oriole disliked Starling (AKA Sagepaw) due to her "annoyingness." He tried to ignore her and told her to go away whenever she asked to join him. Secretly, Oriole felt jealous of Starling because he felt as if she stole his mother's attention. After the fire, Oriole realized how much his sister needs his protection and became protective and caring of Starling. He was very careful and paranoid, trying to keep Starling safe. When Oriole stumbled into a Wind Colony patrol, he tried to take them by himself in an attempt to distract them while giving Starling time to escape. However, Starling insisted on fighting with him so he decided to run. They were beginning to starve during their first leaf-bare so Oriole decided to ask to join the Wind Colony. There, they were renamed Blackpaw and Sagekit. The two are close and often stick close, trying not to interact with anyone at first. However, Sagekit eventually became more adjusted. Sagepaw appears to understand Blackriver's fears and sticks up for him whenever one of their colony members teased Blackriver.
Silkkit - Blackriver didn't really consider thinking about the kit when he was born. In fact, Blackriver disliked playing with Silkkit and his friends. Blackriver thought of Silkkit as "the more tolerable one, but still really annoying." However, Blackriver decided to stick up for Silkkit when the kit became injured and Guststar planned to make him either into an elder or medicine cat. Blackriver felt shocked and a little overwhelmed when he was assigned the future mentor for Silkkit. The kit admires Blackriver after the incident.
