Both of the older heroes skidded to a stop and immediately started running to aid Weaver. "Shit! Weaver, are you okay?" Breaker asked. Then he saw something bony shoot out of the ground a few yards away from where Weaver fell. "Fucking hell… now is not the time!" he shouted, rushing over to the stal and making quick work of it. More were un-burying themselves nearby; it looked like there were four more preparing to attack the group.

"Both of you, start running," Cal ordered, retrieving his bow from where it rested on his back. He nocked an arrow and aimed it at one of the stal monsters' skulls. "I'll be right behind you." Breaker nodded and grabbed Weaver's hand. He pulled the younger hero up and started running.

"Is you face the only thing that's hurt?" he asked, keeping an eye on him to make sure he didn't trip again.

(Alright, he's gonna get chewed out afterwards haha)

Breaker didn't like the way Weaver looked like he was favoring one leg over the other, but they couldn't argue over that now. Weaver probably wouldn't admit that something was wrong until they got to where they were going someone took a look at his foot. "They're… some kind of stal monster, I think," he said, momentarily glancing back at Cal. The man had taken down two of the monsters already and let an arrow fly into the glowing eye socket of a third. Breaker was definitely glad for the cover that he was providing. "We're almost there, and.. I think I see a house!" Breaker exclaimed, pointing at a building. Light flickered in the windows. They had a wounded party member–a kid, too, as mad as Weaver would be to hear him say it–and were stuck out at night, surely whoever lived inside wouldn't turn them away.

(Ack, sorry! I got kinda busy yesterday dknlsv)

"I guess?" The answer sounded more like a question. "If you want to? Not sure why, but I won't stop you." He slashed at one of the monsters that got too close for comfort. Breaker felt a twinge of satisfaction as it turned to dust before him. An arrow met the skull of another stal, and Breaker turned to see Cal catching up with them. Most of the monsters were defeated by the time he actually caught up with them. "Thanks for that," Breaker said. Cal simply nodded in response. They'd reached where the road met the plateau, and it seemed like it had been cut into it and went up at a slope for access to the top. As they followed the road, it didn't seem like there were any monsters waiting to claw their way up through the earth to fight them.

When the group made it to the top, they were met with what looked like a ranch of some sort. Cal took the lead and headed straight toward the house. He knocked three times on the door, and a female voice called, "Just a second!". Footsteps sounded inside before the door opened. A woman with vibrant red hair looked out at the trio. "May I help you?"

"We're sorry to bother you this late, ma'am–" Cal was cut off by a gasp as the woman caught sight of Weaver.

"Oh, dear, you're injured! Come in, come in," she invited, waving the group inside. She grabbed a cloth off of the counter and soaked it in water. "Here, let's clean that wound before we get to anything else."

(Don't worry School messed up my update schedual)

Weaver held his cloak tighter around himself and shifted his weight so he was standing on his foot witht eh broken foot. He shook his head, entered the house, and tried to seem as small as possible.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

(Broken? I thought he just twisted his ankle?)

"Um, miss, we can take care of–" Breaker was cut off as well.

"Nonsense! Set your things down and make yourselves at home, you hear? Don't tell me you were thinking of traveling more at this hour, it's far too dangerous." The woman placed her free hand on her hip and gave Breaker a look, and he realized that he was being scolded by a complete stranger.

The hell?!

Cal nudged Breaker with a look that said, Be quiet. I'll handle it. "Ma'am, my brother doesn't like strangers touching him. I can tend to his injuries," he said.

"Oh!" The woman exclaimed, handing Cal the cloth with an apology. Cal said his thanks and accepted it.

"Can I see?" he asked Weaver, not wanting to just start touching his face without permission. It didn't matter that the kid didn't actually have much of an aversion to touch–at least, not that Breaker or Cal had noticed–it would still be rather uncomfortable for someone to just start scrubbing your face without warning.

@Consider-PB_and_the_Jellies

Weaver nodded his head, and moved the cloak a tiny bit out the way so Cal could get to it, but the lady couldn't see.

His skin was rubbed raw, and there were a few indent and bloody spots where the scales were originally, Weaver was thankfull that they always grew back. While he didn't like Cal calling himself his brother, but it did get the lady out of the way so It worked. And he was right - Weaver hated people touching him.

Cal made quick work of it, making sure to be as gentle as he could. He then gave Weaver a wad of bandages. "Use these to apply pressure there, it should stop bleeding soon." Cal glanced at Weaver's foot for a split second, but said nothing; if they removed the boot to check his injury, his webbed feet would be revealed. "You next," he said, turning to face Breaker. "Were you hurt at all?"

"Nothing serious. I got whacked pretty hard in the shoulder, but I don't think anything's broken. It'll probably bruise, that's all," Breaker replied, rolling his shoulder a bit to see how much he could move it. He winced a little. But really, there wasn't much of anything they could do about it besides be careful. "I'll be fine. What about you?"

"I was using my bow, none of them got close enough to land a hit." Cal turned to their host, who wore a curious expression. The hero extended his hand. "Apologies, ma'am, we never asked for your name. I'm–"

"Let me guess, Link?"

Breaker stiffened. Is she the reason we're…? He looked over at Cal, who had gone rigid with his hand still out for the woman to shake. His stoic expression had cracked a little, shock showing through. "Well? Am I right or am I right?" the woman asked, grinning a little.

Cal blinked and schooled his expression back to serious, letting his hand drop to his side. "…Yes. How did you know?"

The woman laughed. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again–you know one Link, you know 'em all. Plus, I've seen that device on your hip before."

"…Pardon?"

She extended her hand for Cal to shake. "My name's Malon, and my husband's name is Link. Though recently he's been going by his title, the Hero of Time. Maybe you've met him? He'd be traveling with a group of eight others, Heroes like y'all are."

Both heroes visibly relaxed upon hearing that, though Breaker was confused. Nine other heroes that they hadn't met yet? Cal shook Malon's hand. "It's an honor to meet you, though I'm afraid we haven't crossed paths with your husband or his party."

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

(By the way, I tend to get a little carried away with my responses when I get excited about something, if you couldn't tell. If that ever gets to be too much, please tell me and I'll try to shorten them jdksalv)

@Consider-PB_and_the_Jellies

So there was more? Weaver thought, pulling his cloak more around himself. He was good enough with just the two companions, but nine more? That would make 12. He was good thanks.

He turned his attention to Malon and Cal, waiting for more.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

"I'm sure y'all will run into each other at some point," Malon said. "So, are you going by titles as well, or something else?"

Cal nodded. "I'm known as the Hero Of The Great Calamity, but we shortened it to Calamity. Or 'Cal', as a nickname." He shuffled his feet at the mention of the shortest version of his title. Breaker wasn't particularly surprised, but he'd always felt bad about how Cal seemed to become even more stiff and awkward in situations where he informality was needed.

"I'm called the Hero Who Broke The Curse, but that's a little too stuffy and long for me, so I just go by Breaker," he introduced himself with a grin. "And he's not very talkative, especially at first, but that's Weaver." Breaker didn't tell Malon his title because, honestly, it was up to Weaver whether or not she should know. The kid was fond of his secrets, after all.

"It's a pleasure to meet you! I've got a spare room y'all can put your things in and share, why don't you go drop your bags in there? I can get started on supper while you do that," Malon offered.

"Oh, you don't have to–"

"Breaker, yeah? This is my house, and I'll do what I want in it. And I want to make y'all a nice meal and make sure you've got a comfortable place to stay, so don't go questioning my authority in my own home."

A beat of silence passed. Breaker and Cal exchanged wide-eyed looks. "…yes, ma'am," Breaker mumbled, hanging his head in mild embarrassment. Cal gave a short, tense bow and apologized before straightening and gathering his things.

@Consider-PB_and_the_Jellies

Weaver liked the idea of a room, and a meal (hopefully she had fish). He pulled his bag onto his shoulder, and followed breaker and cal into the room they were given. and sat down on a corner bed. "So?"

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

"First things first, we should take a look at your foot. Yeah, I noticed that," Breaker said, setting his own things down on the middle bed. Cal took the one closest to the door and retrieved the bandages from inside it.

"Whatever it is, hopefully it's not serious. If it's a sprain, wrapping it is all we can do for now," he said, handing the bandages to Breaker.

"Yeah. You headed somewhere?" he asked.

Cal nodded. "I'm going to see if I can at least help with cooking."

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

(You're good!)

"See you in a few, then," Breaker said with a nod as Cal walked out. He stuck an arm out in front of Weaver when he tried to leave. "Sorry, but I've gotta take a look at that. I think all of us have a habit of acting like our injuries aren't as bad as they actually are. Just let me see, alright?"
