Blake smirked as she passed and walked into the cafeteria, sitting at the usual round table him and his friends sat at, where he had a clear view of Bethany.
Bethany tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she read
He watched her for a moment, but redirected his attention to his friends that had now surrounded him at the table. they embarked in a conversation about the cheerleaders a few tables away, and how one of them invited him to a party that weekend.
Bethany shrugged off her jacket exposing her neck and shoulders
Blake hardly focused on the conversation, but more so on Bethany. When she shifted from her book it caught his eye. she knows i can see her he thought to himself. He focused back in on the conversation, and caught it just as his friend asked if he wanted to go the the party with them this weekend. “you can count me in. when have i ever missed a party?” he smiled at his friends, and leaned back in his chair.
Bethany smiled at her book with a giggle
He kept his focus on his friends for the rest of lunch, and didn't even think to look away from them.
When the bell rang Bethany got up and quickly walked out of the lunchroom into the Hall
The bell rang and most of Blake's friends got up. He and his best friend, Marcus stayed there, as they did everyday. Their next period was a free period, so they walked around the school for that period.
Bethany was outside frantically searching for her inhaler hyperventilating badly
Blake and Marcus left after the flood of kids, and when they walked out Bethany caught Blake's eye again. "Whoa there little lady, are you alright?" Blake asked, walking over to her, seeing her panicked state.
She ignored him her face loosing color
"Well that's no good. I can't help you if you don't tell me what you need?" he said, a hint of genuine concern in his voice.
She backed out of her car and looked at him her lips and skin losing color as she hyperventilating
"I-uh don't know what i can do. Marcus get the nurse, and be quick." Marcus took off running. "Do I need to call 911? If you can't speak, blink once for yes and twice for no."
"i-in-hal-er" she said
He nodded once, sharply and took her bag from her, carefully digging through it to find the inhaler. He found it and pulled it out, quickly handing it to her and putting a few spilt contents back onto her bag.
She pressed Down on her inhaler taking several breaths
He held the bag and rubbed her back gently. Marcus and the nurse came around the corner quickly. The nurse ran over to Bethany and started asking questions.
She was trying not to pass out as she took more brearhs
Blake continued to rub her back and the nurse continued to ask questions and then proceeded to say, "follow me to my office so i can give you a small exam. You're both welcome to come along if you'd like."
"Ill meet you in the library, Blake. I have some homework to catch up on." Marcus said, turning down the hallway.
Blake nodded to Marcus, "I'll come, make sure she's okay. Everyone needs a friend, right?" he said, and began following the nurse down the hallway.
Bethany tried to walk but stumbled back slamming her hand on her car hood. To steady herself
Blake heard the noise and turned back to see her leaning on her car. He jogged back and wrapped his arm around her waist and helped her stand. When she was steady he began to start walking, helping her along.
" thank you" she breathed out looking at him with apologetic smile
"Yea yea of course. Like I said, everyone needs a friend sometimes."
She nodded staying quiet for now"
They walked, side by side, his arm around her waist, to the nurses office. When they arrived, he helped her sit on the bed in the corner of the room.
She looked at him" don't leave Please"
"Okay." He sat her bag on a nearby chair and sat down on the bed next to her.
She layed her head on his shoulder without even thinking about it
