Walking back to Sabine, her mind split with concern for her new friend and her… love interest. “When are they letting you out of the hospital?”, she asked.
Walking back to Sabine, her mind split with concern for her new friend and her… love interest. “When are they letting you out of the hospital?”, she asked.
Cruz sat down in one of the chairs, a bit aways.
"I'm not sure. The doctors want me here for at least forty-eight more hours to watch me, y'know, make sure that I'm really going to be okay. But I will be in a wheelchair for a few weeks, at least. He fractured my spinal cord. Not enough to paralize me permanently, so, silver lining!" She gave the other three a smile and two thumbs up.
Cruz half laughed, seeming to feel a little better now. "You really did a number on my leather jacket," he joked softly.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Sabine smiled. "I can get you a new one if you'd like."
"No, it's alright." He dismissed, "It's not your fault at all,"
Sabine nodded. "Okay. I'm sorry for any discomforts that I caused you guys. That man……….he's not a good person. He hunts down people who are………..special like Macha, Fae, and I. Then he kills us of like we're pests, just insects that plague the earth." She frowned.
"Should… I be concerned he might return?" His voice became quiet.
"He might, but not for about two weeks. He has this…….pattern, I guess. He'll go to some other city to gloat about how awesome he is, kill other targets, then he circles back around. It's complicated." She explained.
Cruz looked at Fae, and Macha, and for a brief second terror flickered under the glaze of chocolate eyes. "Huh." He swallowed.
Macja’s breaths were laboured, and Fae struggled to come to terms with this. She gulped nervously, subconsciously reaching for Cruz’s hand to comfort her scattered feelings.
"You guys don't need to worry about him. It's really complicated, but I work for an organization that is hunting him and his friends, like the guy who crashed through your roof. They have already taken over." Sabine told them.
Cruz lightly squeezed Fae's hand. And despite his doubts, he feigned to accepte the information in order to reassure Fae. "Alright."
”Why doesn’t the government know about this?”, Fae asked shakily. A poor girl like Sabine should not have to be dealing with things like this. She should have the right to a normal life., she thought sadly, angry at the same time.
"It was my choice to do this." She reassured Fae. "And I WORK for the government."
Cruz shifted his jaw untrustingly. If a government worker could be easily stabbed by one of these men, who's to say it's not ten times easier to shank himself or Fae to death?
Sabine noticed Cruz's discomfort. "I'm a teenager Cruz. It happens. People get hurt sometimes. Not even a cat can land on it's feet all the time."
He tilted up his face in doubt, but he said nothing.
Fae and Macha shared a glance uncomfortably. “How do the people not know about this?”, she asked.
(Love how you brought the RAC in @Natasha! Smart thinking!)
(Thanks! Happy puppy smile)
"Because the government doesn't want to raise panic. Which is why I didn't want to tell you guys. You don't need something else to worry about."
Fae found herself gripping Cruz’s hand tighter. “Thanks, Sabine.”
(No sarcams I intended)
Sabine nodded. She sighed. "Man I hate making my sisters worried."
Cruz rubbed Fae's hand with his thumb, "How long do the doctors anticipate you'll be stuck here for?"

(This is what I said earlier, remember? Sorry if this sounds mean, I do not mean it that way.)
The feeling of Cruz’s thumb rubbing against her hand summoned all the butterflies in her stomach at once, making her wings flutter “Hey Sabine, what are your sisters called?”, she asked, changing the subject.
"Falon, Emma, and Ruby." Sabine said with a smile. "They're only ten."
Oi, my bad! XD )
Cruz leaned back in his seat.
“Aww, those are such cute names! All triplets?”
