Vincent, though expected that, was still surprised when she said it with such genuineness. He opened his mouth slightly, looking down and allowing his hair to cover his eyes.
”Thanks…” he spoke softly under his breath before looking back up at her.
He gave her a sincere and warm smile, tilting his head slightly.
Valerie nodded hearing his thanks. She didn't understand his movements of hiding his face, but at the very least he was sincere in his words. She closed her book with her hand and reattached it to her belt, "And I don't think I'll make my decision any time soon. I'm loyal to my lady, but you provided a decent argument for me to let you go. So I think I'll be sticking around you for sometime. Whether you want me to or not."
(I like how everyone is just staying with Vincent. This just goes to show how decent the kingdom rulers are lol)
Vincent was a bit skeptical with the request. Not that he did not trust this magician, but that he thought he might’ve had too many guests in his house. Whatever the case, he gave in.
”Sure, the living room’s a little crowded though—“ he mentioned, opening the door to find Wissian and Kreuger still inside while Varsha was gone.
”Make yourself home” he stated as he walked into the bedroom to find that Varsha had left. He did, though, notice the ring and the pendant that was left in the room. The pendant was his, he knew this, but the ring was not.
He picked it up, inspecting it for a bit before slipping it on. He began to hear something, as if the ring had granted him a link with someone…
”Hello?” he spoke softly.
(I need to give Atruxiavir people something to do…)
”Uhm… excuse me, your majesty—“ one particular volunteer spoke up with her hand raised.
”—even if I want to help with the battle, I do lack capabilities in the fighting realm… would there be training for that soon? Or…” her voice was a bit shaky, perhaps because she was in the presence of her kingdom’s queen.
”How’s the investigation going?” one of the scouts asked.
”Nowhere, there’s no actually proof that the assassin was the one who killed them” the other answered honestly.
They were near where the bard was and it helped that they seemed to have more information on the topic than anyone else.
Varsha was still on her way to Atruxiavir, for some reason she just couldn’t stop thinking about the assassin. She thought finally after all these years she could have a chance to create a romantic relationship, even before she got the offer from the late king of Atruxiavir to be the babysitter for the princess 26 years ago, she doesn’t have a single male friend. She had thought that, once the princess grew up, she would be freed and continue on her journey, but no. The princess has the ability to control blood and when she was young she often lost control of her power. There were lots of times when Varsha trained the princess to control her power and almost got herself killed. And now the cute little princess has become the queen and she appointed Varsha to be a royal guard. Even though she wanted to decline the favor, she just couldn’t said it, in her eyes the queen was still a little girl that she adored. But whatever, now she just has to protect her queen and continue watching her grow, while she was doing that maybe she would find a cute interesting boy to be with her. The queen wouldn't mind anyway she thought and if the queen does mind Varsha would just going beg her.
The ring that she wore started glowing the message popped into her head, it was Vincent’s angelic voice, when Varsha left the house she created a communication ring for Vincent. The ring allows the wearer to communicate from their mind to the destination that the ring has been assigned to, which in this case the ring that she gave to Vincent allows him to be in touch with her.
”Oh… you actually wore the ring umm… you see, now you can have a chat with me through the ring.”
”Oh, by the way how things going that way”
(Oof right let me read through this)
”Nothin’ much, just that the magician who was after me decided to stay for a while” he answered truthfully from his perspective. Seems like he was going to have to talk with a lot of people, a lot more than he would’ve liked. That said though, he doesn’t exactly dislike this. He’s been lonely for too long after all, company sure sounds good.
Maerda smiled to the volunteer and reached out to take her hand. “Do not worry.” She soothed, calming the woman’s racing heart. “I would never allow my people to go into a war without training. As soon as my guard returns, we shall be personally training you all. I myself will be handling the more magical side of things, while Varsha will be tackling physical training.”
The female nodded at her words before stepping back into the crowd. People looked at her a bit, most of which were smiling though.
”Any updates?” one of the guards asked a scout who had come back from patrol.
”Nothing, we couldn’t find him yet”
"Alright buddy, seems like you have many companions on your side. Stay safe, alright?" Kreuger stood up off the bean bag and pat his friend on the shoulder. He then departed for Cershestin, ready to go back to his work. With his motorbike, he traveled back to his lab.
Vincent nodded when Kreuger did comfort him. He was a bit more interested with the ring, though. However, it wasn’t like he was able to do anything else apart from treating the newest magician to something.
He walked out and turned to Valerie.
”You want something to drink?”
“Tea would be nice if you have some,” Valerie responded. She had stepped into the house and destroyed her truth sigil not needing it anymore. She spotted Wissian and kept herself tught lipped hoping the other magician didn’t think to attack her.
”What kind? I have green tea, lemon tea, black tea, milk tea, oolong tea, British tea…uh…” he said as he looked into his fridge, realizing that he, in fact, had too much tea in his refrigerator.
”Or any tea, actually. I think I might have almost every kind…”
Wissian’s head pounded but he tried his best to keep his eyes open. He could see Valerie in front of him, though he wasn’t in a position to even talk to her. His eyes glowed a little, though not enough for them to be terribly noticeable unless you were looking for it. Take deep breaths, you’re going to be okay. You’ve done this before.
"Any tea is fine," Valerie responded to Vincent. She wasn't removing her protection spell until she knew she was safe. She looked to Wissian and gave hima slight nod, "Hello Wissian."
Vincent nodded when Valerie stated her ‘choice’. He turned to the kettle that was on the counter and got out a cup. He poured some tea into the cup, the tea being earl grey. He set the cup down on the table in front of Valerie.
”Awake, time boy?” he turned to the other magician.
Wissian could only nod. He didn’t dare say a word for fear of unintentionally changing the time. I’m awake, however I don’t want to be… After a moment the pain within his body began to subdue and he noticed time was moving normally again.
Valerie picked the tea up from the table and sipped it. Earl grey, not an awful selection. She had one eye on Wissian since at the moment that was the biggest threat to her safety.
The assassin knew the tension between the two.
”Alright, alright—“ he sat down at the beanbag and set down his own cup, one with what looks like black tea ”—no fighting in here and no bringing up drama” he stated, sipping some of the tea.
”If you’re not completely against it, can you tell me more about Setriutan? I’m hunted by every kingdom so I don’t really have a side anymore”
Phoenix waited outside the door and bowed her head slightly at Mara when the princess exited. She gave her highness a smile and gestured her head, "Shall we gk now?"
(Man. Leave for a week and only miss a page!)
Mara walked straight and tall to the throne room, where she was to meet with her new assassin to plan his mission. She showed no sign that she had just been coughing up blood, or been in pain, or that anything out of the ordinary had happened, except for the slightest tremble in her hands, although she hid that by pressing her palms into her legs, through the thin fabric of her dress.
Phoenix followed and stayed by Mara's side. Now that she knew more, she could help her highness out more. She stood as tall as she could awaiting the arrival of the assassin.
Valerie wasn't telling him anything. She sat there tight lipped sipping her tea.
Soon, the new assassin, Joseph, came into room. He was now in a hood, one with a crimson shade and a black and silver interior.
”Greetings again, your royal highness” he bowed, showing the rifle that was strapped to his back. Attached to his belt was a sheathed blade.
”I am ready to serve you and the kingdom we love” he stated with a grin, a maniacal one.
”Alright, no answer. I won’t blame you”
Vincent stated, sipping his own tea as well.
”How about… a little bit about yourself? I don’t think I’ve asked your name when we met at the meeting room” he asked with an intrigued glare, almost as if stars were sparkling in his eyes.
(Who is Vincent talking to?)
(Valerie, I’ll get to Wissian soon)
“Valerie,” she responded willing to answer these types of questions from someone. She continued to sip the tea provided, “One of Setriutan’s magicians. Though I’m sure you knew that much already.”
"You sure you love it?" Mara looked amused, and a bit bored. "How far have you gotten in the Vincent case? Have you found him yet?"
Vincent nodded. He was expecting that kind of answer anyways.
”How about things like… what do you like to do? Something along those lines” he requested. It was in his best interest not to annoy anyone yet but he was interested nonetheless.
”Unfortunately no. He’s quite a hard man to catch. However, I told some of the scouts to look for him… hopefully, they will come with great news” he stated.
”Also, that ‘love’ part was a lie,” assured the assassin before he turned to the secretary once, meeting her eyes before giving his attention back to the princess.
”Anyways, I was interested, your royal highness. Would you like me to kill Vincent on sight or to bring him back alive and allow your grace to finish the job?” he asked casually.
"Read," Valerie responded bluntly. She really only enjoyed reading and spell casting, "And learn I suppose."
Phoenix kept a wary eye on the new assassin. She would stay silent and appear fine with him though she would keep on her guard.
